Can't get enough of this channel you guys. It's the closest I've found to a community that really discusses metal similar to how religious folks discuss their holy books and saints. I feel like watching yall is as close to creating an official "canon" or like a divinely inspired assessment of all metal music and how it ranks in value and how the newly converted shall be navigated into the "thralls of metal".

The 2024 MDF line up looks sick
After I got back from winter break, I finally got back on my college radio show. A week later, after I played my 60s/70s garage rock/power pop special, my parents and I went out to Olive Garden, and she discussed how she loved my show! She loves my 60s music that I play! She told me that I should consider playing Depeche Mode and Duran Duran. I thought about and I was said that I was going to play them! I've been playing them a lot and I think that they are definitely one of the best 80s bands without a doubt! You're right about Depeche Mode! They are really talented musicians, and they are definitely not a guilty pleasure! I love them to death! 80s pop at its best! Violator, Black Celebration, and Music to the Masses are my top 3 albums from them!
Necrotic Nick- That 80's pop sound is still so infectious to me. We had amazing musicians playing pop rather than just bland, souless pop that I think is unfortunately the standard now.
Based on what I read in your comment, Takoda you should check out the band Deadsy. Their two albums: Commencement and Phantasmagore.
Duran Duran heavy inspiration on tracks "Mansion World" and moreso on "She Likes Big Words".

My stereo system in my music room which I really love and have been using it for 16 years now. My amp is 1000 watt. Harmon kardon with 2 - 3 way tower speakers with 12 inch. Woofers. They are CERWIN VEGA which are fuckin awesome! Speakers.
And 2 - 3 way Sony with 6inch. Woofers book shelf speakers. That's my setup and it sounds amazing! and can really crank the Metal out. Verygood video guys love you all's channel here.🤘🍺

Jon, I had a cat named Gizmo, too. And my oldest cat was named Ninja. My heart is with doggies too. I have an old little girl who has been with me my entire adult life and we'll always have dogs.
Necrotic Nick- Oddly enough my ma had a dog named Mogwai lol. He was an awesome Shi Tzu. I tend to connect with cats more. I like their independence but I do love dogs as well.
In my opinion, I'd love if you guys ranked the discography of Sodom, especially considering it is a lengthy (and divisive) one. Also maybe with Death, not as lengthy but still a great discography too. In any case, I love the channel, keep it up, I hope you rank some albums or bands soon! And maybe another iteration of album v album or band v band, cheers!

I have a question. What is you guys' favorite metal mascot besides Eddie (Iron Maiden) Vic Rattlehead (Megadeth) and the Snaggletooth (Motorhead)? Aside from the above three, my favorite would probably be the Kreator Demon (Kreator).
Necrotic Nick- Man, that's a hard call honestly.I'd say Exhumed's "Dr. Filthy" has got to be up there for me. He's a killer part of the live show for sure lol.
John Longstreth is one of the most amazing extreme drummers out there. He makes everything look effortless.
And there’s definitely room for Mortiferum and Hall & Oates. Love the non-guilty pleasures.

Necrotic Nick- Dude, not a problem at all. This was a lot fun to do honestly. I love the first Sleepaway Camp but the sequels became a bit too self aware and kinda ruined but In the Mouth of Madness is killer. I'm only really familiar with Lizzy Borden out of that batch so I definitely have some to check out in the future. I didn't see a release date for Post Mortem Superstar so I don't know about that one but I may check it out. Thanks again, man!

Necrotic Nick- I think that one is one of John Carpenter's most underrated flicks. I'm a sucker for well done Lovecraftian horror and he nailed it with that one. I loved how ridiculous Thankskilling is. It reminds me so much of a Troma production and I love stuff like that.

So what I got from the pop discussion, Necrotic Nick probably has a copy of Wang Chung's album To Live and Die in L.A. in his collection.
There's a ton of album rankings I've been waiting for for a long time, but my top 5 album rankings you should do are Deicide, Dream Theater, Motorhead, Megadeth, and Sodom. Motorhead are my favorite metal band of all time. Deicide is up in my top 3 for death metal bands of all time, behind Death and Cannibal Corpse. And I know that Shedlord loves Dream Theater a lot. Megadeth is definitely my second favorite thrash band of all time, only behind Metallica. And Sodom is up in my top 5 for thrash metal as well. And my favorite from Germany.
Necrotic Nick- There's definitely a lot of discographies we want to touch on. We'll probably never be able to keep up with all the requests from everyone but there's definitely a few you've mentioned that I want to do.
Hearing Deicide's first album caught my interest in death metal but seeing Morbid Angel God of Emptiness on Bevis and Butthead we like hell yea I'm hooked lol

Nick I think its this video you mentioned Suffocations Terrence Hobbs and dude I was wondering does he play the guitar solos too? I'm sure you've seen them live.
Necrotic Nick- Both he and Charlie Errigo trade off on leads but I believe Terrance has always played leads in Suffocation. I've seen them at least 4 times and I know he was ripping some killer leads at all of those shows.

Underrated guitarist for me: Criss Oliva of Savatage. Dude was a beast at the time, RIP to an amazing player.

I grew up with rock on the radio. Started listening to Metallica and gnr. (Master of puppets was my first bought album) from there i found Pantera, Sepultura, and white zombie and I've been finding harder and harder music since
I saw suffocation and fear factory in 2006 as well. I saw them in the Phoenix area though.

Necrotic Nick- I do prefer Sepultura overall but Pantera was also a big reason I became a metalhead too.
I still think pantera is the most aggressive band in history. Maybe early meshugga and mid era decapitated are close. Not the heaviest but the most aggressive and cutting.
I like pantera but sepultura clears easily
I've probably posted this before, if you think about quality and quantity, Overkill is the king of thrash mountain. Fun episode.

Dude I saw morbid angel on that tour with pantera. That tour kicked ass and I've seen morbid angel a total of four times and got treys autograph and are you going to review the new clutch when it comes out ?

Necrotic Nick- That tour was pretty sick. That was my first time ever seeing Morbid Angel and it made a huge impression on us. Honestly, I've been a Clutch fan since I was in high school so there's a good chance we will review that one.

This raised a great question should people separate art from the artist ?
I listened to a lot of heavy metal and progressive metal growing up, so things like Black Sabbath, Rush, Megadeth, Dream Theater, Queensryche, Savatage, and Metallica (there's way more). I got into Pantera and Sepultura later on. But, my intro to death metal Morbid Angel and Death. Before Illud, I have always thought David Vincent had the best death metal voice. It was always brutal but I could completely understand what he said. Pete Sandoval is still among my favorite drummers, and Trey Azagthoth is a great guitar player. Chuck Schuldiner also had a fantastic growl voice and was an excellent guitar player, and Death never wrote a bad album. Wish I can say that about Morbid Angel, but Illud was not great. Modern death metal I got into are Opeth and Nile.
But I have such an eclectic taste in music, it's ridiculous. I like so many different styles of music from 80s pop and jazz fusion all the way to some of the most extreme bands.
Necrotic Nick- That's pretty close to my path. Actually, I still think David Vincent has one of the best death metal growls out there and Sandoval is still impressive as hell. He was on another level back in the 90's though. Trey and Chuck were probably the most influential guitarists in death metal in general when you break it down. I still hear their signature sound in a ton of bands now. It's always good to have a wide pallet that way you don't get burnt out on one thing. I need breaks from the brutality sometimes lol
