I mounted mine over my guest bathroom toilet.It's wired into a wall wart power brick so it's live all the time ready to go.You know those creepy rubber snakes and rubber tarantulas you buy in the discount kid's toy bin? Yeah.

I guess mine's defective, the remote doesn't work
maybe the battery is dead in the remote and needs replacing

Do not buy it. I bought one, not reliable at all.
Why wasn't it reliable? I have used mine a few times and it worked everytime
