- Please join us for the second of our 'Historical Walkthrough' videos. This time we venture deep into the Great Dividing Range of New South Wales and visit a tiny Pioneer Bush Cemetery which served a gold and silver mining community. The town was wiped out in the tragic bushfires of 1939 and was never rebuilt. It remains a poignant reminder of the harsh conditions faced by our hardy pioneers in the late 19th Century. I have great admiration for those who go and keep the cemeteries in such great condition, and of course you are so right that these are those who worked to make the country what it is today. I think until recently the health and other emergency services were rather taken for granted which is something that is very sad. I loved the site you visited, a perfect spot in which to bury a loved one, it's so beautiful there. The trees, the birdsong and the wonderful views are so relaxing and I think that knowing your loved ones are safe and the area well cared for makes grieving a little easier, I know I feel that about where my parents are. I think I have seen this before.
However still watched it through and enjoyed again.
There is a cemetery that I go and show people on occasions at Dalmorton.
Check it out some day when you are in northern NSW.
