    Fun fact, Mike uses that pig that he gives to Kaylee to kill one of his former coworkers in season 5 of Breaking Bad.

    Better Call Saul is the only case I know where a story actually benefits from being a prequel. Because they decided to make it a tragedy, based on the principles of ancient Greek drama.
    Saul is a good man (npi) who wants to do the right thing, but he has a flaw and can't help himself from just making things worse. And from the very start, the whole audience already knows how it will end for him badly.
    To some extend that also goes for Mike. At this point, he really did not have to become a guy who would work with someone like Walter White.

      Breaking Bad was a textbook Shakespearean tragedy, with Walter being someone who on the surface seemed to be a "good man", but with a core weakness or flaw that drove him bit by bit to not only his own destruction but that of everyone he loves, until by the end he turns into such a monster that he actually becomes the villain of the story just like Macbeth. It's not entirely surprising that for BCS they might adopt an even more old-school take on the formula.

    That little piggie toy is the same one Mike used to distract the assassin (Mike's ex colleague hired by Lydia) at the house peering through the door peep hole trying to figure out what that thumping noise was all about.

    Jimmy knew Davis & Main wouldn't approve the commercial, he saw the old one, it was boring and there was no room for being creative so he decided to take a chance. I agree it wasn't the right thing to do, but I can understand why he chose to do it that way

      @@xxdavecz3811 Sure, I agree, but he also could've just wait two days to see what happens. I'm just saying I understand why they would get mad at him at work, after all there's a reason why he decided to lie to Kim about the commercial

    • @artistfloor9

      @@xxdavecz3811 No. He was selfish and reckless. Jimmy was not in a position to waltz in and do whatever he wanted. He could've presented his case, used his powers of persuasion, and come up with a compromise. They were willing to give him a chance, but he didn't even try. He disrespected them and burned a bridge for no reason. He didn't consider how it would affect Kim. If he didn't want to follow any rules, then he shouldn't have accepted the job. He could sit in the back of the nail salon and take on the case all by himself.

    One of the very few shows that drains you emotionally without lots of action. Pay attention to Nacho storyline. He's not a minor character as you may think. In fact he's the axle of the wheel.

    16:00 - "You can't take the shortcuts you have to go through it the right way." -Imon
    Season 1, episode 9: "I worked my ass off to get where I am, and you take these shortcuts..." - Chuck
    I also love how they blame Chuck for what Jimmy does at another law firm in another city lol...

      It's not that black and white, it's more nuanced. And it's a different situation.

    • @tenroku8751
      @tenroku8751 4 роки тому +5

      Well, I personally disagree with Chuck about Jimmy having taken a shortcut to become a lawyer. Unlike in this episode where he solicited old people and tried to do things behind Cliff's back, as far as I know, he didn't break any rules and passed the bar exam like anyone would. It might not have been the same way as Chuck did, but Jimmy obviously worked his ass off too. Now that he's starting to climb to reach Chuck's level (because he admires him), Chuck is forced to make up a lazy excuse like "you didn't work as hard as I did to get here" to avoid having to face his own inferiority complex towards Jimmy (which we see an example of in S2E5 with Rebecca I believe). Of course it's nuanced, and Chuck has some justifiable reasons to believe that someone like Jimmy becoming a lawyer is dangerous (especially after he learned about the billboard stunt and the lengths Jimmy went to hide it from him), but at least regarding the "you didn't work as hard as me" argument, I think it's bullshit. And just in case, I realize you might not be defending that argument, I'm just using your comment as a platform to express my thoughts ^^

      @@tenroku8751 i think the same way as you. the inferiority complex makes chuck see jimmy as the villain o the story when in reality he was somewhat pushed towards that path. We don't see jimmy act in a more gray/black area after he has this idea of accepting/resigning himself to the idea he cannot change and clashes with chuck after all not even his brother can see anything credible in himself so why should he act as such?. He could have gone in a different path, after all he put effort and he worked as he should(in the beginning) besides he had this quality of establishing an horizontal relationship with the clients and empathizing with them but the betrayal he felt did damage him and left an impact on him

    I can understand why you guys were mad at chuck back at the end of season 1 when he was outed for being the guy that kept HHM from hiring Jimmy. But I just keep thinking of stuff like the commercial here watching you guys react.
    Not that you could know all the stuff Jimmy would do at that point, but it's why even though I feel bad for Jimmy in that scene I can't say that Chuck doesn't have a point.

    • @ImonSnow
      @ImonSnow  4 роки тому +6

      We always say Chuck has a point, but he is no better than Jimmy and thats what we see in the comments. People excusing Chuck all the time. But also is it a sin to enjoy and like the main character of a show?lol

    • @Kellds47
      @Kellds47 4 роки тому +2

      @@ImonSnow I apologize if I came as across as accusatory. I didn't mean it like that. I may have been in a similar position to you when I watched it the first time. Part of the reason the writing is so good is that Chuck is right about Jimmy but Jimmy is right about chuck.
      My favorite acting in the series may be Rhea Seahorn as Kim and Michael McKean as Chuck.
      I appreciate your guys reactions. I'm glad you started watching bizarre adventures of Jojo too. Sorry again if I offended.

    I never quite understood why Jimmy did that shit with the commercial. I get that he's more of the it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission type but that was horribly reckless. I guess it's just not Jimmy's nature to be a team player.
