  • USGA Handicap App for your phone - Where to find it and how to use it. World Handicap System - 2020 Handicap Changes will change the way golf handicaps are done around the world. The World Handicap System changes the way your handicap is calculated and will make your 2020 Handicap go down. Creating a World Handicap System unifies the six golf handicap systems into one system used by everyone. This was done with the cooperation of all the major world golf organizations including the USGA and The R&A and allows for a fair way to handicap players on any course, anywhere in the world. In the United States, the USGA will be switching over the handicap system to the World Handicap System in January 2020, but the the rest of the world adopting it throughout 2020.

    As a member of a golf club in England I would have my handicap looked after by my club. When I play away I will be able to enter my card on the computer of the club I play at. We usually have a touchscreen in each clubhouse for this purpose. All I need is my player number.
    It's going to be interesting.

    I guess I missed the part about how to get a ghin number. Is this system just for club golfers? I am a member of a traveling golf club, we use hdcp and we are looking for a better software.we do not have a home course per se. Thanks

      Riccardo Rasberry what country are you located? In the USA almost all public courses can get you set up with a GHIN number. Let me know where you are and I can let you know what you need to do.

    Does 9 hole round count as a round? Or would I need to play 9 holes 40 times to reach the 20 round threshold?

    • @agolferswalk
      @agolferswalk  3 роки тому +1

      Hello Jordan 👊🏼 Thanks for checking out the video. In order to establish a handicap you need to play a total of 54 holes. This can be made up of 9 hole rounds, 18 hole rounds or a combination of 9 & 18 rounds. If you want to understand the system better I have a separate video that reviews the system in more detail. It is titled World Handicap System. It is easy to find on my home page as it is the most viewed video on the channel.

    Ok, I am confused about one thing though. You mentioned how to contact the local association about getting a handicap index established, but then you said you need your GHIN number and last name. How do you get a GHIN number in the first place?

    • @agolferswalk
      @agolferswalk  3 роки тому +1

      You need to sign up for a handicap at a local course. You will then use your GHIN number and name to set up you account in the app. It is possible to get a handicap online now too. Check with your local pro first though.

      @@agolferswalk I finally figured out how to get my GHIN number established online and now have my digital USGA card waiting to have scores added to it, if I ever get a chance to get on a course to play. Not being able to wear a mask or being able to take a shot is making things difficult.

      I understand. I won’t do either but thankfully in Pennsylvania most golf courses allow people to make their own choices. I hope you get out soon.

    Is it free to establish my handicap at my local course? Or is there a fee

    • @agolferswalk
      @agolferswalk  2 роки тому +1

      Typically there is a small fee. In the USA it is typically $25-40/ year. Many places do it for free so check around.

    Hey great video man, one thing I’m still not clear on, so when your posting those score to the app, and it’s says enter adjusted gross score, so you apply the handicap manually on the card and post that or just post the total round and the app does it for you?

    • @agolferswalk
      @agolferswalk  4 роки тому +1

      So when they say adjusted gross score, the adjustment would be to not take more than a net double bogey on a hole. So, if you are a 10 handicap, and make a 9 on a par 5 that was the 10th handicap hole(or harder), you would post an 8 for the hole. An 8 would be a net double after you take a stroke off. Once you made any necessary adjustments, then post your score. There is no other application of the handicap before posting. This probably is still not clear. Let me know. I can throw together another private video to review it better.

      A Golfers Walk okay I think I’m getting it a little better now, I’m a 12 handicap and very new to posting scores and having a handicap, so only adjust higher than double bogey scores, on holes that would be harder than my handicap? And thank you very much for the response and help!

    • @agolferswalk
      @agolferswalk  4 роки тому

      @@deansylvester3171 Each hole on a course should have a difficulty rating. 1-18. 1 being the hardest hole and 18 being the easiest hole. (These have nothing to do with the actual hole numbers.) Since you are a 12 handicap, you can post no higher than a triple bogey on handicap holes 1-12.(Triple bogey on those holes would be a net double given the difficulty rating and your handicap). You can post no higher than double bogeys on the handicap holes that are rated 13-18.
      Did this help?

      You can see a group of people if you are trying to calculate the course handicap. If you open the course you are playing you can find the course handicap for a group and enter their names if you wish.
