Hay quick question. on some score card it says men's handicap and women handicap and it shows some numbers next to it. Is that the handicap you are given and you have to divide that number by 18 ????????
I'm 41 years old and have been playing golf (only like 2 or 3 times a year) my entire life. I've had handicap explained to me a million times and this is the the only time it actually made sense to me! Thank you SO MUCH!!
My wife just started, I've been playing for 30+ years. I've learned one thing, do not give golf lessons to your wife! She has taken a few lessons and I help her out if she forgets anything the instructor taught her. She wanted to know what everything meant on a scorecard. You covered everything except what the numbers mean next to the men and women's handicap which was not in numerical order. I explained to her that those numbers tell you the most difficult holes and the easiest holes 1 being the most difficult and 18 being the easiest. I personally try not to look at those numbers, I get psyched out for some reason. I look at it after the round. Like your vids.
I just turned 40 last month and decided I wanted to start playing golf more regularly. This video is what I’ve been searching for in regard to understanding the basics. I really appreciate you for being so articulate and thorough in your teaching!
Have been getting into golf the last 3 years(2019-2022). Brief intro a few decades ago. Retired 3 years ago. Heard some terms before. Vague awareness of some of them. This tutorial really cleared up the fog in my mind. Thanks.
This is my first week for playing with my son, we are both new and we’re clueless on scorecard. I saved this lesson very useful and makes going to the course more meaningful now. Thank you.
Thank you for such a simple explanation of something that seems so complicated. I started golfing 4 years ago and while I'll never be great at it, I am getting better. The more I know, the better I'm getting to be at it!

Omg I've played for years but never seen this explained in so easy to understand detail . Thankyou! No how do I get you to come play with me every time so I don't forget lol 😂
Hi Coach. Great explanation! Very helpful and easy to understand. I have a quick question. If I have done the max strokes for a hole - lets say its a par 4 and i have the max handicap (54). The max strokes for a par 4 would be 9 for me. If I did 9 strokes and had to pick the ball up and move on to the next hole what would I enter in the score card? Would that be a score of 9? Or would I pick the ball up and estimate how many strokes it would take to complete the hole and add it to the 9. Thanks!!
Even my 8.5 year old daughter, who is just playing for few months, understands you clearly! Thanks Coach. Hope to see you at Vancouver during late 2021/early 2022 (basically once the pandemic is totally done!) just to inspire my daughter
@@CoachShayain Hey coach - All good. Yes, she is 11 now. Her handicap is around 20 and hoping to get to a single digit in a year or two... Lets see! :) Nope, we didn't visit CAN yet but planning during 2024. Will get in touch with u, if we do next summer. Thanks

Thank you so much for explaining this and sharing it to the world. A friend of mine told me to try it out. I did 9 holes and sucked at it, but this helps.
6:55 Why do you add 2? Not just 1 or even 3? Why was double bogey chosen? I know Oprah scored double bogey on the first hole in this example, so does that get established for the rest of the game? I understand where the 4 and 3 comes from, just not the 2. Thanks

Thank you for explaining the score card. So on a tournament, does each player need to write down all other three players’ score or only write own and partners. I watched on you say ask scores at the next tee box and not on green as FYI. Thanks Amy

How about explaining what Slope and Rating mean for the course and how those numbers are computed. I think even seasoned golfers don't quite understand those definitions as far as how difficult the course plays. I know the higher the slope the more difficult it is and how is the rating calculated in terms of the particular par for a certain tee box (blue, white, red, etc.)

I love your videos, thank you. I do have a quick question. Are 9 hole courses used in the handicap calculation. Do you just double the number of shots over par?
There is no requirement. You can play from any tee box as long as you keep up with the pace of play. My recommendation is that if you are new to the game or can not make the green in regulation play from the tee box that gives you the flexibly to reach the green in regulation more than 50% of the time so you can enjoy the game the way it is meant to be :). I hope that answers your question
great video question looking at your score card if your handicap is 18 you would only get a stroke every hole what if your handicap was say 27 how many strokes would you get on the easiest holes and the hardest holes thats 18 which holes do you get the other 9 strokes from thanks
Here in australia we have vertical scorecards too, as for slow play if you just walk alittle faster between shots and be ready to have your shot when it’s your turn, you won’t have a problem with slow play.
Did you explain the use of Handicap Index / Stroke Index on the Score Card? And what these numbers means and how you can adjust your score based on your own handicap. Maybe I missed it..

What is the men’s and women’s handicap score per whole listed under the par number on a score card for example it might say it’s a par 5 but men’s handicap is 7.
Hello, so if I “max out” on shots as a new golfer, how do I mark that on the card? On a par 4, I play my 8th shot. do I mark it as a 8? Or do I not score that hole so people know I picked up? I hope that makes sense.
You write the max out score that you got as a beginner. Once you keep playing and practicing and your take the average of your handicap, hopefully it gets lower than when you started. Thats the goal :)
How to keep score in a scorecard and Golf Handicap are explained in this video. Let me know if you have any questions.
hi they play me of 22 and how do I know which holes I get 2 shots on
is it the 4 hardest holes on the s.i and is it the 10 hardest holes of 28

Very well explained, can you also make a video on how many types/formats of games in golf do we have?
Just now learning to keep score, and registered my handicap.
I never understood the handicap stroke number on the scorecard. Now I can flex on my partner “pick your ball up, you just hit 9 strokes on a par 4, after 7 you are done”. Or at least I will hold myself more accountable over the group.
Happy that you can flex of you friends LOL
I love your videos, thank you. I do have a quick question. Are 9 hole courses used in the handicap calculation. Do you just double the number of shots over par?
Good explanation of handicap. Now what is the requirement to use the gold tee box?
There is no requirement. You can play from any tee box as long as you keep up with the pace of play. My recommendation is that if you are new to the game or can not make the green in regulation play from the tee box that gives you the flexibly to reach the green in regulation more than 50% of the time so you can enjoy the game the way it is meant to be :). I hope that answers your question

thank you , i enjoyed the video.
Thanks so much for watching.
So in your situation with an 18 HC because you have an extra stroke on each hole a par 4 for you would mean you pick up your ball after bogey?
Hello, so if I “max out” on shots as a new golfer, how do I mark that on the card? On a par 4, I play my 8th shot. do I mark it as a 8? Or do I not score that hole so people know I picked up? I hope that makes sense.
You write the max out score that you got as a beginner. Once you keep playing and practicing and your take the average of your handicap, hopefully it gets lower than when you started. Thats the goal :)
