For those too young to know the story behind this magic.....They have a very long history of deep friendship.... Davis had listened to demo work of Kate's when she was 16 years old. He visited her at her family's home, and decided to get someone to listen to her stuff and see if he could help get her signed to start getting her magical, different style out there. He got three of her demos recorded in full, and asked people from EMI to listen to her demos while EMI were at Abbey Road studios during the making of " Wish You Were Here". She was given a contract, and David produced her debut album. They have collaborated many times since. The result of this fateful finding gave us one of the most powerful and emotional artists in history. Could you imagine never hearing this? These two together is pure magic.
Are you sure it was Wish You Were Here rather than Animals? WYWH was recorded during ‘74 (several years before her ‘78 debut album)? Animals was released in ‘77, so it seems more in the right timeframe.
@@CliffinAZ I understand the story is that after seeing what a wall flower she was, the studio signed her up for performance lessons, including mime and dance to build up her stage presence. So it was a few years between being signed and releasing her first music.

I liked this song when it first came out in the 80’s, and I like it just as much now in 2022!! It still has the same powerfull effect!! Timeless perfection!!!!!!!!’
It could be him. From Kajagoogoo band bass player was Nick Beggs and Kates's band was Del Palmer. He looks more like the first one but i believe every second bass player in that period has a hairstyle like this.
I certainly isn't Nick Beggs. My guess it is Tony Franklin judging upon the quite unique fretless bass sound he has. BTW, this isn't a live performance per se, I am pretty sure the vocals aren't live. Gilmour at times misses his cues and he isn't near a mike and you still hear his voice :-)
WeKnowTheTruth2012 don’t know about angel. They are beautiful and full of intensity and that look she gives up to the gods or a higher power when she briefly leaves her body at 1:03 is captivating to me for some reason.
Artists tends to decrease the tune of the songs they play live as they grow up, usually because also their voice change with their age. In this case they raised the pitch by one tone despite being live. Incredible

Tell me, we both matter, don't we? You, you and me. It's you and me won't be unhappy. If I only could, I'd make a deal with God, And I'd get him to swap our places, Be running up that road, Be running up that hill, Be running up that building, If I only could, oh C'mon, baby, c'mon darling, Let me steal this moment from you now. C'mon, angel, c'mon, c'mon, darling, Let's exchange the experience, oh And if I only could, I'd make a deal with God, And I'd get him to swap our places, Be running up that road, Be running up that hill, With no problems. Kate David and Tony make this song come alive live. Her vocals are as good live as in the studio. I loved it in the 80s The song Still sends shivers up my spine today. Guitar and synth versions are as good as each other. Has to be one of the best songs of all time.
Wish Kate would release a complete collection of all her videos, on dvd and a complete singles collection on cd. The bass player is Tony Franklin and the drummer is Stuart Elliot of Cockney Rebel fame.

And before you blab about how you are an artist yourself, please my dear, don't bother. I saw your clip, once was enough. If i were to compare you to food also, you would be the grease in which a McDonalds refused to cook their food in as it was "not good enough" You are neither mediocre, nor good and far worse than bad. No originality, No style your own, nothing worth noting other than - quite simply. crap.
You want to prove your worth? Make a video on you making this song - in your extremely high quality music - (LOLOL) "better" than what it is already.
Then come back and have an opinion worth talking about other than attempting to troll someone who is clearly far better than you will ever amount to.
Kate Bush has more talent in her toenail than you do in your entire lifetime.
+virgorouge the point on this song is that it's repetitive, precisely. It's kind of minimalism applied to pop songwriting
+virgorouge Wow... what you just typed is incredible. It took you four full lines to describe your knowledge of music and the value, merit and meaning of this piece... I could have saved you three and a half lines:-
You know fuck all about this subject matter...
See how easy I did that... as McDonalds would say "i'm lovin it"
virgorouge McDonolds xd
The smiles at 3.50 make me watch this over and over again. Absolutely smashed it and they know it.
The drummer !! 😯
She always seems so shy in interviews, but when she performs, she never falters nor loses her equanimity. Like "no problem!" She could stand on one foot and still be incredible!
God Almighty!
Still as flawlessly pitch-perfect as the day the single was released.
This woman is the one, single, only artist who defines the term, ARTIST!
A complete original who can't be touched.
kate bush was and IS and WILL BE FOR EVER my first favorite singer....i was eleven...thank you kate ! i love you... you're the one for so much people ...big kisses and respect from Paris
Thanks
dexter she is my third cousin
Finally a LIVE AUDIO!!!!! DEFINITELY LIVE.
This is a treat! Back in the 80's it was not easy to find a white Steinberger guitar with a tremolo arm, unless you are David Gilmore. RUTH is a beautiful song and pretty happy to see that 80's music, is alive and still sounds great!
I liked this song when it first came out in the 80’s, and I like it just as much now in 2022!!
It still has the same powerfull effect!!
Timeless perfection!!!!!!!!’
Great Kate, great David!
This ladies , is how you give a live performance . Thankyou . Sorry I wasn't there .
the bass player is soooooooooooooooooooo 80's :)
ChrisEchoes im not saying your wrong, but i don't see Kate Lip Syncing
Almost 100% sure it's Tony Franklin
Yep that’s me. No lip sync. I think the mix favors my vocal hence you don’t always see David on the mic when there’s singing :-)
The beauty of the song lies in how timeless it is.
she has eyes of an angel..
WeKnowTheTruth2012
Or a witch... I am ready to give up my soul...
Such a lovely face...
WeKnowTheTruth2012
don’t know about angel. They are beautiful and full of intensity and that look she gives up to the gods or a higher power when she briefly leaves her body at 1:03 is captivating to me for some reason.
I just want to go in my backyard and fall in the grass and dream about when I was young, when I hear Kate run up that hill.
Thank You, Netflix & Stranger Things, for bringing this song into my life. ✌🏾🤟🏾
I don't why, but I'm getting goosebumps! Am I the only one? 💝
Artists tends to decrease the tune of the songs they play live as they grow up, usually because also their voice change with their age. In this case they raised the pitch by one tone despite being live. Incredible
Kate is in every decade great
Love the look between David and Kate and then the Drummer and Kate it was pure happiness.
Pink Bush. :-) Love it.
compazine yes👍👍😍😍
lmao
Hahaha.
Hahahaha
🤣
People that watch Stranger Things will finally find out about this live performance! ❤️
Exactly what I'm thinking 👌
the best of the 80's
Fuck off! She nails it, what a legend!
It doesn't hurt me.
Do you want to feel how it feels?
Do you want to know that it doesn't hurt me?
Do you want to hear about the deal that I'm making?
You, it's you and me.
If I only could,
I'd make a deal with God,
And I'd get him to swap our places,
Be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,
Be running up that building.
If I only could, oh
You don't want to hurt me,
But see how deep the bullet lies.
Unaware I'm tearing you asunder.
Ooh, there is thunder in our hearts.
Is there so much hate for the ones we love?
Tell me, we both matter, don't we?
You, you and me.
It's you and me won't be unhappy.
If I only could,
I'd make a deal with God,
And I'd get him to swap our places,
Be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,
Be running up that building,
If I only could, oh
C'mon, baby, c'mon darling,
Let me steal this moment from you now.
C'mon, angel, c'mon, c'mon, darling,
Let's exchange the experience, oh
And if I only could,
I'd make a deal with God,
And I'd get him to swap our places,
Be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,
With no problems.
If I only could,
I'd make a deal with God,
And I'd get him to swap our places,
Be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,
With no problems.
If I only could,
Be running up that hill
If I only could,
Be running up that hill
If I only could,
Be running up that hill
If I only could,
Be running up that hill
If I only could,
Be running up that hill
If I only could,
Be running up that hill
If I only could,
Be running up that hill
What a beauty and what a talent, completely original , love you Kate x
It's good people are waking up to old classics like this,
Mi querido David, nunca serás Roger, pero eres el puto amo con tu guitarra y tu voz.
One of my all time favorite songs with the greatest performers. And man the bass and the drums and their synchronization. Wow!!!
2020 - Kate remains sublime. Singing live. No assistance. Perfection
Kate David and Tony make this song come alive live. Her vocals are as good live as in the studio. I loved it in the 80s The song Still sends shivers up my spine today. Guitar and synth versions are as good as each other. Has to be one of the best songs of all time.
OmG...complete masterpiece
Wish Kate would release a complete collection of all her videos, on dvd and a complete singles collection on cd.
The bass player is Tony Franklin and the drummer is Stuart Elliot of Cockney Rebel fame.
She will be releasing a live cd of her 2014 tour next month.
Gracias por dar el nombre del baterista, Stuart Elliot (The Alan Parsons Project !!)
The voice. Voice never changes.
Blown away, thank you!!!
whoever disliked it seriously need their head shaking !!! . its the best recording / live performance of this tune about today . david guitar gives it a whole new sound and wish i had the oppertunity to av been at the concert bk in 87 sadly i was just 1yr old. so glad for moden technology as i would never of found the video. born 20yrs too late :( love the 80's
