@@caboose8110 nah go for it, yes, this one and World of Madness (as well as some darker eerie tracks I could care less) unfortunately are gone, but the game is just too good to be ignored.
Finishing the game, this music seemed like a bittersweet conclusion to an exhausting, unforgettable journey. I got the Leave ending my first time back in 2001. Just.. tears
The leave ending is kinda foolproof, no matter what you do, you always get it the first try. I wasn't even trying to get any of the other endings but the way I played, I should've gotten the In Water ending because I had James low on health for the whole game yet I still got the Leave ending first try. That's what makes this game so good, the second run-throughs are just better and so on and so forth. There won't be anything else like Silent Hill 2
For some odd reason, this tune fits on all the endings... The composer is such a genius. IMO, this track resonates with me on the "In Water" ending though.. when I listen to the music, I imagine James closing his eyes while he is submerged in water, slowly waiting to be with his beloved wife....
Akira Yamaoka is really a genious, and you're right this song makes you think if it describes the last moment of James on life, but we'll never know what happened to him after that
He is the best composer of all time, period. I don't care what all the euro-centrists say or think that an Asian man could not surpass western composers, there isn't a single western composer who can make songs like him.
@@iamsomebody6267 I would recommend giving some minimalist composers such as Steve Reich a listen. This Silent Hill track especially reminds me of some of Reich's pieces that hypnotically absorbs you into the pulse and beauty of the music!
@@SoaringTrumpet I've listened as you recommended. Yes, it seems it has some elements of Silent Hill's music, but it's far from it, and it will never be a substitute for SH's music. If he were to specifically compose for SH, it's gonna be a downgrade and will never be good as Akira's. Akira's music just fits perfectly for every situations in the game, it almost seems it was a predetermined fate that this video game was going to come into existence one day and Akira will meet this title as a composer. I'm pretty sure Akira got a lot of inspiration from western minimalists, but lot of western music just sounds unpolished, boring, random, and never a music created to resonate perfectly for a specific situation.

I remember my first time beating this game. I got the *spoiler* in-water ending, which I'm sure many of you are familiar with. Long story short, I ended up with this hollowed, empty feeling for the next few days. I couldn't believe what had happened, nor what I had done. It felt as if the guilt of a fictional character was cast unto me, their burdens weighing me down as I went about my life. It took me a bit to realize that it was kind of silly to be so guilty about a video game, but even now I find myself getting emotional when I listen to tracks from this game again. I've only played SH2 once, and I don't plan to revisit it any time soon. One experience was enough for me to get invested in this game and the story which it tells. This song makes me feel so emotionally and even physically tired. I don't know how to specifically explain it down to the emotion, but I suppose the closest I can would be like having a long, rough day and talking with a friend, and when you get home you just sit or lie in bed not doing anything and just catching your breath. It's a sad, but content feeling I guess.

This is what games that have ending should felt like, Finally finishing one of the hardest modes of all the time and hearing this theme is just feels refreshing..
I play games since I was like 5 or even younger. I think it's safe to say that if a game manages to make my jaw drop and leave me speechless at the end, it's a masterpiece. This one did, and it's a virtual piece of art, more than just a game with some code behind it, which left a genuine impact on me and I will never forget it
SH2 really had that special feeling about it, even among its own series. It's the feeling of conclusion that I get from James story that does it for me. More about the individual rather than the cult or the town itself. While in terms of gameplay the game may not be “fun” I personally would pick RE4 or SH2 any day based on gameplay. SH2 story is THE best when it comes to it's “execution” and the scares with random variables are just great. Hopefully the Remake will bring something new to the table!

This song sounds like how i'd imagine James feels if he actually found Mary at Rosewater park and they reunited
This is what games that have ending should felt like, Finally finishing one of the hardest modes of all the time and hearing this theme is just feels refreshing..
I have a save on Silent Hill 2 just before the ending fight, just to hear this song :] Oh and the fight with Maria is fun too.
Love SH2
Comment if you stayed on the rank screen just listening to this.
No está en el remake!!!! No te creoooooo Bloobeeeeerrrrrr!!!!!!!! 😡
LOL Like light and air rushing into a dark space. Lovely.
Whenever I'm time crunching on a paper or other school assignment, this always helps me power through. It has a really positive energy.
Listening to this while finally have a 10 stars run is so satisfying
I still love listening to this after all these years 🧡... I can't wait to see new trailer for the remake today 😍.
Still listening this in 2021 🧡, 20 years later. Not many games have such masterful and beautiful soundtracks, that makes me want to listen for every year. Silent Hill 2 is a timeless masterpiece and I had to start playing it again
Soundtrack to my life

I will admit, the person who controls this account, loves the Silent Hill series with all of their heart.
Still stucked in my brain after more than 20 years... Now I'm actually listening it again in here feels so nostalgic, bittersweet, and somewhat haunting but calming at the same time...
Feels weird, man... in a good way...
I started to become a silent hill fan around the time I started playing Dead by Daylight. I honestly think that the original resident evil trilogy on the ps1 has some of the best music in my opinion, but anytime I play silent hill I feel like I’m floating listening to this ost. But I am hyped to hear a remastered version of this when the SH2 remake releases.
This is a MOST beautiful song thou hast uploaded. Many thx for sharin n carin. Pe@ce
I'd love it if Silent Hill F's results screen was this with traditional Japanese instruments
this song is literally what i felt like when i played mermaids with my friends in the pool when i was little
Guys the remake is finally here 😢
and this song is not even in it 😪
I feel so empty, sad and emotional right now...
I hope happiness comes to your life, have a nice day
Getting In Water as my first ending really made this track seem so bittersweet on a first playthrough. I guess I just wonder if James is really going to a different place.
this soundtrack makes me feel relieved
It's back!!!
КТО РАСПИАРИАЛ ЭТОТ ТРЕК МММММ??????
Who is the one who is trapped? Who is real? love this
SH2 remake!!
EXACTLY!
I try to do homework with this song going, but I keep ending up dancing like a psychopath. And I can't stop.
