Yeah, I trimmed the hair on my chin to 1mm yesterday (I shave the rest to 0) and it looks pretty good, it shows off my jawline, but it also adds a nice dark outline

The problem with the first photo, is that when you photoshopped the beared on the actor, you actually changed the shape of his face or jawline, which made him look less masculine. So that doesn't count.

Basically if you have a strong lower third, clean shaven or 5 o’clock shadow is the way to go. If you have an average lower third, a light to medium stubble and a weak lower third, rock a full stubble or full beard outright.

Beard don’t work for everybody , but it definitely works for the majority of people . Now when it comes to how big the beard is that’s a different question. But most guys would benefit from having some variation of a beard .

If there is so much makeup to the point where they are a totally different person than it is usually seen as bad. Not to mention a lot of guys in general care a lot less about makeup than people on social media make it seem .
2: a beard is much different from makeup. A beard is a natural part of the body. It’s basically hair but on your face. It isn’t hiding your face because it’s a part of it.

From my personal experience stubble shows your cheekbones and highlights the ogee curve which which is defined mostly in lgood lightings stubble makes it defined all most of the time

Also a jaw bone that is too short aka “jawline recession” resulting in a short side profile and an under developed face. Looks very unattractive. Many men grow thick beards to hide a receding jaw etc. men with stunning jaws are usually clean shaven…think Henry Cavil ….

My experience with letting my beard grow a few inches over the winter, bros loved it. Coworkers always complemented me for it. People i met on jobsites subconsciously submitted my beard, other beard growers approved of me. Some women liked it, most didn't. Shaved it, immediately got some girls call me handsome, and ones who didn't know me(cashiers) started smiling at me more. Bros disappointed at me shaving, random men met at job sites subconsciously want to treat me like a boy.

Depends on the face or the beard. I had a beard for 3 years in a row and women didn't give me a second glance. When I started clean shaving I got way more attention from women. Then again almost every guy in my city has a beard so I probably stand out from the norm now.
Faces without beards or moustaches tend to look more youthful. And also, more approachable and less threatening. I think of all those fully bearded men in Arabic and Middle Eastern countries and they look both much older and more scary.
Did the study include the length of the beard though? We know that women prefer a 10 day stubble for example. Many guys who grow out their beards don’t groom it properly and keep it trimmed which doesn’t look good.

I have stubble because i have a good jaw, but the dark stubble gives me more contrast with my light eyes.
As a shopkeeper in India, I notice that my full beard looks a bit intimidating to some customers. However, a clean shaven appearance works otherwise. Sales is good too. Perhaps beards are bad for businessmen. Moreover tending to wavy curly salt-pepper beards is frustrating as no matter what you do, the hairs have a tendency to point in every possible direction.

I wish these studies would try this one different beard styles. Not every man can grow a full beard. The only style I have is mustache and chin beard. Also, it would be nice to do this study among different colors of man. Like for black people, asians, hispanics, etc.

Depends too if you like beards on men. My mom went gaga over them, whereas I mostly prefer clean-shaven, or if there must be facial hair, tidy and close-cropped, so you can see the man’s features.

I think its also a personal preference thing I know some people prefer guys with beards and some people don't. This girl was seemingly really into me and I was rocking a goatee but i thought it looked stupid so i shaved and then she no longer seemed interested, next time i saw her she had a boyfriend with a goatee 😂 coula been a coincidence, she coulda just been being friendly and wasn't into me but I've definitely never regretted shaving more in my life 😂

It depends on each person separately.
The effect for large jaw size was in the opposite direction (albeit not significant) than you are suggesting (i.e., ratings were higher in the full beard condition).
My jaw's decently chiseled but my lips are very puffy; so I do goatee round the mouth with faded stubble on the sides.
Clean-shaven my face is too buttery, stubble gives it a bit of definition and makes the jawline _more_ noticeable.
The only thing I clean-shave is my neck. Beard has to stop somewhere; there's a limit

Its not just having a beard... its how you style it... for example. I have very nice facial features so unless my face is bloated i look tthe best without facial hair. But i also look good with facial hair AS LONG AS i shave my neck... if my neck has hair it blends it with my face and hides my jawline. If you want to look as good as you can you have to figure out what highlights your best features and hides the worst. This applies to everything when it comes to style

Well I mean… it’s almost a given (to me). Similarly, some women need more makeup to pull off a look while some women require very little makeup to accomplish the same effect. Same thing here with beards.
Normally if a man has a strong jawline he doesn’t really need a beard, but in this case his face just looks off. As others have said its probably due to photoshop or something but i think it’s also partly the hairstyle looking a bit odd with no facial hair to pair with it.
