All of Miyako’s choices need no comment from me for obvious reasons lol but I did want to mention about Jennifer Batten as she did the guitar work during Michael Jackson’s live tour and why the riff from “Beat It” is so important for the LOVEBITES song Empty Daydream, even though the riff itself was used in other songs not just Michael J’s but Cory Hearts Sunglasses at Night and others it’s because of Jennifer Batten and the song Empty Daydream is a tribute to Jennifer by Miyako

I’ve often seen comments saying that Miyako was influenced by the Lord God Ritchie Blackmore, but other than perhaps her stage persona, I’ve never seen evidence of it. I’d love to know what interview it was that she actually said it. The outro to the 2019 “Daughters of the Dawn” DVD (The Everlasting…I think?) sounds as if it’s from “A Day at the Races”. Layered guitar, very VERY Brian May. I know also that Kirk likes a wah wah sound (although until this point started being raised in comments my untrained ears hadn’t really picked it up). Miyako uses the effect a lot, so Hammet as number one is no surprise. I also suspect that the show wanted them to concentrate on Metal Guitarists. I know she admires Gary Moore, but maybe not so much as an influence but as a fan.

      And for Midori:
Midori: “For me, it’s Kiko Loureiro, Nuno Bettencourt, and Yngwie Malmsteen. I think Kiko is very talented, and there are a lot of things I’ve learned from him, he has such as a wide variety of licks and knows how to add nuances. I am referring to the Brazilian flavor licks, and the cool way he incorporates fusion-like licks and ideas, inspired by players like Allan Holdsworth, into metal. There are some parts that I practice from his lecture videos. Kiko has studied Marty Friedman’s techniques since joining Megadeth, so he may have been indirectly influencing…”

      Guitar World, April 28, 2020
who have you been most influenced by?
Miyako: “There are many. My mom loves classic rock, so I’ve been listening to bands like Deep Purple and Rainbow since I was little. I ended up being very influenced by Ritchie Blackmore. But I’ve been influenced by a lot of other modern guitarists as well - out of the current ones, I’m very much inspired by Timothy Henson and Scott LePage from Polyphia.”
That was where i read it.
(i posted this for 2nd time, first one, disappear to me (i put the link..)

I actually watch these all the time (big fan of Friedman) and usually have no clue what's being said cause the captions don't work right. Its an actual better experience when you can follow the conversation lol. I love Miyako's playing and it's crazy she only started playing at 18. Obviously a quick study if you can say Master of Puppets was the first metal song I learned as if its no big deal. Kinda like learning Iron Man, ya know. Anyway great video and btw, another great Japanese female shredder is Yuki from the band D_Drive. Her YT channel is Yuki D_Drive if your not familiar. This is a mashup on her channel from a live show ua-cam.com/video/S-xlWdAnLsY/v-deo.html and she also has a cover of Vai's "For The Love Of God". "Be Yourself" is also fire!

I was surprised that Miyako left out Ritchie Blackmore.

Miyako wrote on twitter that she chose guitarists who made a great impact on her, and there are more guitarists who move her and she did covers a lot. Someday she gonna tell us.
