Im a fan. However the only thing i care about it battery life on the headset. I know its a year out but very exciting. Also thank you for actually demoing the build on Android studio
I'm coming from a place of GearVR bias, but man I'm so glad to see Samsung get back into HMDs. While I enjoy my Quest 3, it's not in the Samsung ecosystem like my GearVR was. That said... I'm just as skeptical as I am excited. I already see them going the soap-on-a-rope battery method (which I absolutely loathe)... blocky strap on the back of my head means I probably won't just be laying down in bed watching a movie like I do on my Quest. ...and while we may eventually see some of Quest's greats trickle in... they're already on my Quest alongside the ability to easily sideload most of the flat apps I'd get from Google Play Store. I actually want Samsung+AndroidXR to steal me from Quest but uhh... I just don't know if it's gonna be what I need. I guess only time will tell.
The advantage of Android XR is not only 2D flat Android apps but we have to remember that Android 16 supports Linux apps! So, we will also have Desktop apps here.
the potential for android to be in a pc like setting is pretty big, i'm looking foward to getting full android on chromebook, finally chrome books won't be a joke anymore
This is literally a copy paste of AVP with android. And both are a copy paste of Meta quest. So as google isn’t allowing apple to use there apps apple wont allow google to use their apps and neither allow Facebook to use their apps. All will fail because no customer wants to be stuck in any of there walled gardens.
i doubt if meta is going to hand google its software ( games etc ) on a platter .... do you ? . I think what we are actually "looking at " is not what you showed ,, we are looking at interactive Gemini seen through XR glasses,, Google GLASS Mk 2,, if you like,, this might replace android, chromeOS etc
The OS seems pretty coarse. They took one year from the launch of the Vision Pro to refine their hardware and software, where are the results? They will be launching this thing with an XR2+ that god knows how will be able to run 4k screens at 90hz while simultaneously processing passthrough, cameras, and the eye-tracking embedded into the OS. How exactly will this work? We have the R1 plus a M2 running the VP, and this will be a headset more than one year older with INCOMPARABLE processing to this. This simply makes no sense. Shouldn't the headset that is older be a lot better? What have we seen so far that is even remotely impressive? The mobile-like OS?

I wonder if you can open the bootloader on a Quest 3 😅
I just want some Glasses, like the Google Glass. Notifications, navigation and not look like having a mask on my face!
TCL is keeping the spirit alive with the RayNeo X2.

Holding off on Meta Quest and hoping Samsung creates something cool.
$299.99 for Quest 3S is a great way to start. But, I can't say I blame you. THIS is something we've been waiting for!
That looks like something TCL has been doing with the RayNeo X2 AR glass, and it doesn't look like an Apple Vision Pro or Meta Quest 3/3S clone.
Since Google is stepping into this space, would you be interested in reviewing AR glasses like Xreal?

I would like to have one that is used for gaming and some personal use. Something similar to meta quest but with more customization.
I wonder if there's a way to run this emulator though openxr or steamvr and view it through current headsets like a quest, to test it in actual xr

Meta doesn't own the games.
Don't see many games being compatible

I don't know that the company that can't even make tablets work needs to be tackling a project that even Apple already had to admit defeat on 😂
