open tunings are fantastic for pulling yourself out of a creative slump. Haven't tried open C looking forward to it. Thanks for sharing Ola.
Do it. I've been working in open C and its 7string variant for a couple years and... for me it was a one way ticket. If you won't like it you can just change back but if it clicks for you... man is it awesome.
Open G is a classic
I don t think Devin uses “tradicional” open c, I believe it is C-G-C-G-C-G. Anyways, i agree on experimenting with tunings a way of finding new places’

I play a bunch of different turnings between 6 to 8 strings but open C is definitely a favourite to break things up. The fact I love Deb probably helps though 😁

Devin Townsend music sounds like something from a different dimension, everything he done on studio albums is consistent and original and the live performances are mindblowingly awesome. Great human being, great musician, almost scary singer and here in Italy is more underrated than anything...we do not deserve Him

The "new" version of the import Stormbender comes with fishman signatures
There are different versions of the outsourced Stormbender. the one Ola tried is the 900€ model while the model with signature fishman Devin Townsend Humbuckers is 1300€

Congrats on you for having the balls to get out of your comfort zone and have fun around in open C, I feel like this is a concept many seasoned guitarists are afraid to explore (other tunings too obviously) but that's just another layer of fun to have !
Open C changed my playing and made me a better player. Got me out of a big creative slump and I still always have at least 1 guitar tuned to it.
Same…. I use standard D a lot, but I bet I go to open C almost as much these days.
It really gets you out of the box
I bought City by Strapping Young Lad, not really knowing what it was about. It was the most abrasive record I’d ever heard at that point and needed to know more about Devin Townsend. Thanks Ola!

I remember Devin saying I use these tunings so I can play normal licks and sound different. Also we shall now dub all Majesty guitars "Shovel". 🤣
Open C is a really fun tuning. It's easier to navigate than standard. CGCGCE and you're in business!
Ola never ceases to amaze me, everything sounds so great, so unbelievable good, the guitar, the amp, the playing, God damn man, it's incredible
Devin’s custom version is also an ”Import Model” as he lives in Canada and the guitar is made in Germany.🤔

Seeing Ola bring back some Furor-era Feared stuff makes me so happy, such a massive album. And this guitar looks really damn cool, and of course it's Devin so I'm happy.
I've got put the Devin Fishmans in my Kiesel Vanquish and they are easily my favorite active pickups I have ever had in a guitar. They literally work for any genre I wanna play. The real made in Germany Stormbender is a dream guitar of mine

I'll never grow tired of strapping young lad. I had 2 guitars tuned in open c for the longest time and that was the happiest I've been playing guitar.

you mean his old peavey V? they did make that a production model, but they're super uncommon.
The Ziltoid guitar? Believe he keeps it stored in Europe along with some other gear for when he tours there. Says it looks awesome but can't stand playing it because it weighs like 50 pounds lol.

I’ve used Open C for a decade and it’s by far one of my favorite tunings next to E Standard.

Interesting to hear a demo of the Framus pickups, I went with the D-series that offered the Fishman pickups since if i'm gonna get a Devin guitar why not have the version that at least has his signature pickups!

One of the things I love about my mark Holcomb signature is that prs didn’t cheap out on the pickups and included his Seymour Duncan alpha and omegas.

It is very usefull for Ola to use different tunings! This is a very rare review video where Ola is not playing usual riffs that I hear on almost every over review, and it sounded new and refreshing!
Young Ola the Swedish Man has the singing voice of an angel. Perhaps we can get a Louise and Ola duet with Delta beatboxing on the next album?
Really wish that had the evertune but this is rad. I played the regular Framus stormbender and it was insane
They do have an evertune version that also lights-up, but it's around £6K...
Hey! I just got the D-Series Artist Line Stormbender with Fishman Fluence signature pickups. Absolutely beautiful guitar, plays and sounds fantastic in the open C tuning. Gotta love that open tuning! It's literally all I play nowadays, except I take it a step further and eliminate the major 3rd interval on the top two strings, going with AEAEAE 😎
I must try this, just curious, what string set do you use for this? Some sort of skinny top heavy bottom type?

I have a set of the Fishman Devin Townsends I put in an Agile PRS copy. Sound outstanding, and that guitar is a phenomenal player.

I've had the version with the Devin Townsend Fishman pickups preordered/pre-payed since March of 2020...was a terrible time to preorder...with the release of this version with the Framus pickups IDK what's going on with the other version. I haven't gotten any kind of tangible answer from Framus DE, Framus USA, nor my dealer.
If it's a D-Series version, get your money back. Now.
Devin is coming to Stockholm February 27th. What about doing Coffee with Ola with him (yeah again 🙂)? And maybe a rig rundown at the gig 🤔. It would be very cool!

Townsend is great! I love his tone! This is so heavy and evil! The shape may be a little bit stranger, but if you are into more modern stuff it's probably ok!
It really isn't a weird shape at all, especially compared to other guitars that are coming out

Ola! Devin (while in Strapping) used a Mesa Triple Rectifier, boosted with a distortion pedal.. But, yes. He always used an EMG 81 and 81-7.

I have the Team Built model Stormbender (Germany). I’ve had it since they were offered. It’s a really really well made guitar. Plays like butter weighs a fuck ton though. Makes a Les Paul seem like a basswood in comparison.
"It's so good I drooled on the thing" is a pretty good endorsement of a guitar

I have been using the Framus Diablo Pro guitar for over 10 years. My guitar was made in Germany and it has passive seymour duncan pickups...
Is this the lower cost version? If so, it's about time that it's released. The damn thing was announced like 5 years ago.
Yeah, he said it’s made in China which Framus only does with their least expensive models like the D Series.
@@DevilsAdvocate92 I don't mind a Chinese made guitar these days. It isn't 1998 anymore and guitars really aren't all that complicated to build. A German made example of the Stormbender (the one that Devin uses) is like $7000 or something so it's really a no-brainer. People can't afford $7000 for was is mostly, by weight, just a piece of wood.

Devin Townsend is an evil genius of the highest magnitude. Even if I don't like everything he does, I hugely admire him for just doing whatever he feels like doing and making it work for himself above all. Lo, and behold that the field his cares are grown in is barren!
