    Thank you!! Barely any videos of people actually removing the PVC to clean the pipes. All the other videos are dyi house wifes putting baking soda and vinegar down their drains. Need a practical solution, not a temporary one 💪

    I have a question if anyone can answer for me. Do the pipes under your sink affect your washing machine? I've had a problem with my clothes smelling musty which has been going on for about a year. I even bought a brand new washing machine and I'm still having this problem with my clothes smelling musty. I've tried everything to the point where I'm considering calling the water board to come out and test my water, which would cost me more money. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks 👍

      @DrewFixIt  Рік тому +1

      Hi Mate, is the drain of your washing machine by chance plumbed into the waste of your kitchen sink? Cheers Drew

      @@DrewFixIt I think so mate. The hose from the back of the washing machine connects to the pvc pipes under the sink. Forgive my daftness please mate I don't know the first thing about washing machines. Thanks for the reply 👍

    • @DrewFixIt
      @DrewFixIt  Рік тому +2

      @@holdyourcolour1987 Hi Mate, no daftness at all, if you never ask you will never know and won't learn. So, washing machines don't always have valves to stop water flowing back into the machine so it is possible that you are getting sink water flowing back into your washing machine which is not the best. You need to make sure that the drain hose from your washing machine loops up as high as possible in the cupboard where it enters the PVC drain with the hose being held up at the top of the cupboard with a bracket. This will minimise the chance of water from the sink flowing into your dishwasher. Does this make sense? If not, I can perhaps film a quick #shorts of a dishwasher installation I just did for a friend to show you what I mean? Cheers Drew

      @@DrewFixIt Thank you so much for the reply mate and sorry it took so long for me to write back. The hose from the washing machine is quite high up but it isn't held on by a bracket. Do you think I should get a bracket and fix the hose in place high up? Also if you have that video that would be awesome thanks! Another question as well, do you think I should remove the pvc pipes from under the sink and clean them like you have done and do you think this could also be the cause of smell on my clothes? The musty smell I'm getting from my clothes is doing my head in. I thought it was my old washing machine causing the problem as some mould had grown on the rubber seal in the door, but alas I am still having the same problem even with a brand new washing machine.

    It will really stink because all of the gasses escape from the sink hole. That's why a trap is needed.

    Our kitchen sink smells absolutely foul my husband took the pipes off and they were coated with a ripe foul smelling dark brown substance just gross and alot of it. He cleaned every pipe he could. We have a garbage disposal he thought seemed clean enough. All seemed ok but 2 weeks later the odor is even worse 😱

    • @DrewFixIt
      @DrewFixIt  Рік тому +1

      Hi, I suggest you have some more cleaning to do!! Note - those garbage disposal units were all the rage back in the 80s, however most people pull them out nowadays. Cheers Drew

    • @edyedith
      @edyedith Рік тому +1

      @@DrewFixIt I agree definitely needs some cleaning and garbage disposal removed or replaced. The odor is just embarrassing. I used to think garbage disposals we're necessary but with all the odor we've had I don't even want to use it. We don't have much to put in it anyway just as easy to toss it in the garbage. Thank you for the advice 😊
