Corruption is why I don't donate to ANY charity organization anymore. I raised my kids as a single mom and was always needing help (no child support.) You always HEAR about organizations that help, but they are nowhere to be found.
You hear donate..but never an office where you can actually go in to get help...another single mom.. And our church always saying need vs. donations. You might find a food bank though don't count on too much to get by on that.

You especially should be careful donating to churches, people that do the books at church steal more often than, not! I hear stories about this quite often on my local tri- state news! You also don’t know where church donations go to, many churches claim to take up for certain families and, don’t even see that money! It’s best to donate to The Human Resources Services Offices! I usually don’t even give them cash, I just donate a couple of Christmas gifts when, I can to the Angel Tree! It’s best you really know who your donating to! The only thing other than that, I will give cash donations to the Salvation Army and Veterans Organizations that are in my local area!

I don't usually comment, but I have gotten allot of good information from your videos since I retired on a small social security pension. Many of the tips and other things you have mentioned, including discounts or free museum entrance fees and farmers market ebt doubling on fruits and veggies has been invaluable. The museums helped with mental pick me ups and the other, making it affordable for good, organic fruits and vegetables I wouldn't normally be able to afford. So, please be aware that you make a difference and don't get too down on yourself because of this one organization that had corrupt leadership. Sometimes, doing all the homework on an organization isn't enough, and that isn't your fault. Thanks to you and the local senior center, I am managing on my limited budget, so I don't need your gift card, so please use it on others with more need. I just wanted to say, Atta girl!❤!❤!❤!

My then boyfriend (now husband) and his family used to donate to a local charity where I live until my parents pointed out to them how the board of that charity, the director, his wife and another person used the money to buy themselves all vehicles. (The cook at the charity had the truck they used to pick up donations break down and my boyfriend and his family were confused. They had specifically given money for the charity to get a new truck to pick up donations and a vehicle for the cook.) The other one that really ticked my now husband off, they would donate meat (he's a rancher). Found out the meat they donated was going home with board members and the director, not staying with the charity or being given to low income people.

Saint Vincent De Paul society from your local church is a good place to get help and if you're blessed enough to donate to. I have worked with them. I can truly say I have seen them help others in need.
Don't feel responsible for what happened with modest needs. It no different then when preachers use church funds for themselves and not the church. The person who decided to take the money for themselves is the one who's to blame, not the people that trusted them.
It's because of the Keith Taylors of the charity world that make me hesitate to donate to charities so much, I rarely ever do it. Instead, I hand out cash to individual people on the street who clearly need help. It's a horrible shame, because there is a place and need for institutional help.
