Unconventional Cameras - The PSP

  • As a kid I spent many an hour on my PSP, mainly playing the Tony Hawk games, and the Medal of Honour Heroes games. One Christmas, Santa gave me a copy of Invizimals, with a little PSP camera needed to play it. So I played it, and it was pretty cool at the time. But I don't remember using the camera for the augmented reality games anywhere near ass much as I remember using it to snap photos and record videos. I had a memory card filled with them, lots of old memories, but it vanished. I still have no clue where to.
In this video, I borrow a friends PSP and PSP camera, and revisit photography on the little handheld console, 20 years after its launch, 10 years since it was discontinued, and I don't even know how many since I last used mine.
My aim? To find out if the PSP can take good photos in 2024. To see what art I can make with this unconventional system. And, most importantly, to have a bit of fun.

I had a similar idea to use unconventional cameras! I'm so glad it paid off and the images turned out so cool, grungy and nostalgic.

Might as well try it. I think the restrictions (in quality, functionality, usability etc...) they come with force creativity, so no doubt you'll end up with something fun/interesting.
      Thank you!
