- Hot Club of Cowtown perform at 'Watermelon Wednesdays', a summer concert series held at the West Whately Chapel in Whately, MA, produced by Paul Newlin, and recorded by Frontier Community Access Television.
Elana, Whit, Jake you are all brilliant musicians. Love everything you do.
That audience certainly got there money's worth. That was an amazing performance.
Right in my virtual backyard. I should have been there.
Elana James is simply incredible!! Phenomenal talent.
They're all very talented; I'm no usually a follower of this musical genre but I liked it a lot!
Wonderful. Thank you
I'm a guitarist and Whit Smith's improvisations blow me away...wonderful!
he has a very neat web site and facebook page where he presents the basic music theory behind how he works applied to tunes. google him and you can learn cool stuff
Great fiddle phrasing. Happy times music.
WOW !! I could listen to this concert all day long
They are truly amazing
Western Swing was a blend of jazz and western music with largely (but not always) traditional western instruments actually invented and popularized by Bob Wills.
I like these guys.
I have followed them for about 20 years, is that right??? They did break up for a while and Elena worked as a side person for Bob Dylan but got back together What is amazing is how they get a full band sound with just 3 instruments, While Elena and Whit stand out, the bassist is fantastic and Whit's Rhythm work is astoundingly good.
Outstanding
j'en ai le cœur coupé ! merci
How are those people not rocking back and forth in those chairs. I can't sit still
Allen Pape saw them live in 2012...I found it hard to sit in my seat!
Had the pleasure of meeting/hearing them here in Portland, Or just a few weeks ago. DAMN! Three very talented and friendly people.
Loved having you do your show here in Rapid City. Awesome and we hope to have you back some day in the near future.
I know I hopelessly biased. I was an original member of Hurshul Clothier's Western Swing Band The Oklahoma Travelers in the early 1950s. Beats me how anyone can listen to that nasally-whiny stuff that passes for country music today when they might hear this.
Can you provide a link that show someone doing this 'better'. I'm serious.
Heard HotClub of Cowtown first time at Lowell (MA) Folk Festival - about 20 years ago? Simply the best! Especially love their own compositions - the multi-layered lyrics match the awesome instrumentals.
I hate commercials interrupting in the middle of songs as I'm sure you do.
If reincarnation is a thing please don't let me return as one of the two people that disliked this music vid. What the hell is wrong with you two?
Ima lisn' 'n ah said to ma roomy, dese, be f'n gud musicns. An' he sayed ye, de eis.
They're great, but terribly equalized! I can barely hear their voices.
I agree wasabihansen, the instrumental mix is ok but the vocals are too subdued...never-the-less it's still a great set.
Agree. Most of their other videos are much better in that regard.
I have to agree the voices are just a bit to light in my opinion
it gets a little better around the 30 minute mark, but yeah its disappointing
