Great video again STL. I reckon I’m a bit old for that area and prefer the quiet more authentic side of Bali. Big thanks for the eye opening vlog , Canggu , the Digital Nomad's Heaven I always want to see how this famous beach and the neighbourhood look like , think this place a little bit crowded , not pricy , laid back , real good vibes and the must visit beach club is worth the hype , by the way..

wow Bali looks like its packed. i always thought Bali was like the movie Eat Pray Love. but it doesnt look anything like that. from what i see in your videos it looks like a very busy Thailand. I wonder if Thailand is even as busy as Bali is right now? is is visa on arrival?
Ditto, didn't like what I saw. Definitely not what I had in mind about Bali. I've been in Thailand, mainly Phuket, and in peak season it might be busy, but I wouldn't say as manic as it looked in this video.
Hi Kate. To be fair, so far I've just hit the 'main' beaches and usually at sunset when it's busier. So it's a bit like filming Pationg Beach in Phuket at sunset and thinking all of Phuket is like this when of course it's not. So, upcoming in this series I promise you'll see some truly amazing and even idyllic beaches, stay tuned... STL
Been in Bali for a couple months now and it really depends on the area for how busy it is. That said, tourism is absolutely back and people are flocking in. Even though it is now in rainy season things are pretty packed. Having spoken with a number of locals who run accommodations here, they have seen a huge influx of Russian and Ukrainian peoples fleeing the war and military service as well as the typical high numbers of Australians.
Has to be the most honest video of canggu! The place has been Americanized and has completely lost its uniqueness it was known for. That article about digital nomads was right on the money. Sad to see what the Westerners do when they travel. Just my opinion!
Reminds me very much of when i rode all round Goa on a Royal Enfield Bullet back in 2007. I went back there Ten Years later and the place was filthy and ruined imo.
Wow canggu has changed... it's been probably 5 years since I have been back there but wow- your comment of grubby sums it up now :( it use to be so nice and chill
Thanks Judy. To be fair the beach is really only crowded at sunset and even then only in a few stretches where the beach clubs etc are. Bali has many chill quiet beaches too as we'll see upcoming.
Thanks Andy. The clubs are indeed pretty amazing and some are actually very chill too, plus probably the top 'concentrated' cafe offerings in SE Asia as we'll see next time.
Haha, the grumpy bike guy reminds me of what I am seeing a lot where I am. All the "love and light" people don't seem as love and light as you might think!
3 problems I see: 1) The traffic alone would keep me from ever driving there, and perhaps not even going there. 2) Damn, that traffic is ridiculous--nobody seems happy at all. 3), nope, can't do that kind of traffic and constant frustration trying to get around. No thanks. Did I mention the traffic is a problem there?
lol! But to be fair, 'the cut' bit is only a short stretch which everyone uses (and literally a short-cut thru rice fields). Thus that stretch in particular can get jammed especially at peak times (ie: heading to the beach or dinner at sunset as I was). STL
That traffic was so chaotic it gave me an anxiety attack! I had to take a Valium and two martinis just to get over it! How do people live that way and how on earth is that anyones idea of paradise?!☹️😳😱
Balls of steel to drive that route! Seems worse than the traffic in Bangkok. Beautiful place though, I can see the attraction for many people. Great vid as usual!
it's a shortcut road not the main road...bangkok is even worse than bali..see in the lost leblanc youtuber video.. the motorbike can't move because of traffic jams so it has to go through pedestrian sidewalks.. so embarrassing in thailand
I think Canggu is horrible, with all those huge beach clubs driving away the warungs, Russian crypto boys putting the rent up so that the balinese have to move out of their old neighbourhoods...It's just a party town that could be anywhere in the tropics. Can't see much of the Balinese culture or atmosphere anymore. Guess I'm getting old ;-)
