- Hey guys! Today I am going to share a tutorial on how to use the basic tools in the cricut design space - slice, weld, attach, flatten, contour, group, and ungroup. I hope this tutorial is helpful! Let me know if you have any questions in the comment box below! Subscribe if you are new! :)
ETSY: ETSY SHOP: www.etsy.com/shop/Kaylascricu...
Slice: Split two overlapping layers into separate parts.
Weld: Join multiple layers together to create one shape, removing any overlapping cut lines.
Attach/Detach - Hold your cuts in position so that images on the cutting mat will appear exactly as they show up on design space. Detach separates the attached layers so they are no longer connected and will cut or draw independently from all other layers.
Flatten/Unflatten: Turn any image into a PRINTABLE image, merging all selected layers into a single layer. Unglatten separates the layers from a single printable image into individual PRINTABLE layers.
Contour - Hide or unhide contour lines or cut paths on a layer. The image, if it has multiple layers, must first be ungrouped.
Group - Group multiple layers, images, or text together so that they move and size together while working with them on the design screen ( will not affect how the images are placed on the mats).

Hi Kayla, and thank you for sharing so much of your knowledge! I have a question, is there a way to ungroup say layered leather earrings so you can move them closer on the mat to save product? I have downloaded several earrings from Access, but when I try to make them, they are spread out on the mat wasting product. Thank you in advance for your time!
I have a question
For the wine quote..what if I wanted the cricut to cut around it like a stamped image instead of a square?
I need to cut out a bunch of triangles - can I use one of these features to have images touching and maximize the paper ussage?
Kayla how do use Varsity font with slicing the word by having top and bottom portion like when you do monogram split. I hope I explained this right.
Hello!
I will be purchasing a cricut explorer air 2 in a few days. I’ve been binge watching your videos and I’m so excited to get started. Is design space a free software with purchase or is this an additional cost?
Love you’re videos. Thank you!
Yay! That's so exciting!! Thank you so much! I'm really glad they've been helpful. Design space is a free software :)
Hi Kayla- do u have a tip for issues with welding script ? I have a last name in script. When I go to weld the one letter “o” disappears. I have tried to space them out but it keeps disappearing... help : ). So I kept playing until the “O” stayed but it took sizing it very small. Doesn’t make sense. Now I am on the next name and oddly enough now the letter T disappears. Not the entire letter on the cross in the T. I’m lost lol
I have a question: I have put text up on design space and I want to cut it out of HTV. When I click 'make it' It sets up like a print and cut. How do I get it to just cut? I have never had this issue before.
I just found your channel! I noticed that my Cricut Space doesn't look like yours. For starters, I cannot open it on a tab on my browser, I have a separate app. And on my space, I cannot choose colors and browse for images like you do with the extra filters and such. Am I missing something?
I’m having so much trouble knowing what to weed. For example, I have a state of Mississippi shape that has the word home written in it. On the file, the word home is white and the shape of the state is black.. so I assume that means I am going to weed out the word home… When I cut it, if I pull off the word home that is written in script within the shape of the state, the word is attached to the side of the state so I am basically pulling off everything. It’s like the state needs an extra outline around it so I can weed the word home out and then also weed the excess material around the shape of the state. Hope that makes sense.
Can you please tell me why my slice, weld, etc will not highlight to use. I cannot open to use
why I Can't do anything? if y go over the triangle or square I can't change anything no colors, no cut or print
Is there a way to alter the geometry of the triangle? I.e.- I need an isosceles triangle with a base that is 10 inches wide, and peak angle of 30 degrees.
Stiguhler when you select the triangle you can click the lock button and unlock it and it’ll let you change the size of the triangle. Hopefully that would work?
@@KaylasCricutCreations Does it allow you to alter the angles of the triangle? Or just the length of the sides?
I cannot get the colors to come up, I dont have the scissors
Once you weld something how do you unweld it? I want to go back and edit one of the letters but I can't figure out how. Thanks in advance.
Unfortunately if you weld something in Cricut design space and save it then go back into it you can't undo it. :( if you weld something and your still working in design space you can undo it but if you save it and go back into it you can't unweld it.
OK. Thank you!
Where is the description box under your video?
What software is that?
Ronte Lashawn hi! This is Cricut design space a software used for Cricut machines.
My machine does not slice you know you can click on yours I can't even click on mine help
Hi! You can only slice 2 layers at a time. If you have 3 or more layers selected the slice button will be grayed out. You can weld layers together and that will help you slice. In this video at 3:00 mins I show how to do this. I hope that helps! :) ua-cam.com/video/O4OJbHJnAZA/v-deo.html
