One of my favorite fish! I've had the same one for a few years now.
I wonder how long they live...I'm guessing 7 years or so. How old is yours, if you don't mind me asking?
@@DansFish I've had mine for close to 3 years now I think.
Just got 6 of these guys and they are a total blast! So playful and active. Very beautiful as well. Mine are maybe only 1.25" long but bursting with personality. They are in quarantine with 14 Kuhli Loach juveniles, 2" long, and they all play a lot together.
That quarantine tank sounds like a ton of fun!
@@DansFish They can eat a surprising amount at least I was surprised. They can eat a 3mm Northfin Veggie Pellet each. Of course Bloodworms are sucked down practically without tasting the worms.lol. But I don't want to overfeed either. Of course there are all those dozen+ Kuhli loaches and lots of shrimp too. And Bladder & Nerite Snails. 😳😳 It quite quickly became my happening tank. Wow.
I like the Geos? swimming with them. The Garra's reputation for being a great fish, precedes them! Thanks Dan.
Yes, Geophagus winemilleri youngsters.
I like that you give info on the fish ...Nice !
Glad you liked the vid...thanks for watching and commenting!
Such active and feisty little fish. Just something so satisfying about seeing a group of fish eating heartily.
👍💕👍
I like how they mob the food without being jerks about it.
@@DansFish my hillstream loach is such a douche. During feeding time, he would absolutely bully all my cories and hog all the food even when there's enough for everybody.
Underrated fish for sure!
Yes! I think their price make a lot of folks pass them up, but they are so worth it!
The beard game is real....👍
Real ITCHY :)
Does this mean you are keeping the beard. Lol. Love these guys!
It is still on. Every day, I mean to shave it off and just don't ever get to it!
I have two of these and love them. Initially got told that you either have to have a single fish, or a group, as they form a hierarchy , which then reduces the aggression. This is totally incorrect. They are non aggressive as far as I can see, but would like to increase their group because they are soo nice
Mine is a total beast and has to be housed alone. Doesn't bother other species of fish though
Wow, that's very surprising, but then I suppose they are all individuals
Crypto, are you sure you don't have a chinese algae eater or something that was mislabled as a panda garra? I've never seen them be aggressive. Of course, I've always kept them in large tanks in large groups, so maybe I'm just missing the aggression dynamic.
@@DansFish yup I'm 100% sure he's a panda garra! I keep him in a 125 with roseline, rainbowfish and empire Gudgeons and doesn't bother them a bit. But any time I add additional panda garra he chases them around non stop haha
These are on the list for final stocking for my 75! Thanks for the video!
I like how you think, Varanid!
I just picked up a Garra Rufa b/C Pandas were $25 each at LFS and had some spots. I should have gotten the other rufa they had but the other one seemed to be aggressive. Interesting that you say they are peaceful. Will keep looking for pandas to add.
Happy Panda Garra and Happy Dan.
LOL!!!
Very interesting garra panda. Wish you luck, my friend.
Brantov! Thanks, my friend!
Cool nice fish
I never seen them eat l group like that! cool!!
Like kids on pinata at a birthday party!
I dig panda garras
They are super cool fish. BTW, your comment reminds me that "Garra" means "sand-digger"
Like the underwater camera
Thanks, K P. I'm still figuring out which settings on it work best, but I like the change of pace watching fish underwater.
#noglare
2:37 like free flowing Rio Negro
Yeah. Last time I was at the Rio Negro I saw some habitat that I bet Garra would love.
Love those fish. I have a few
Big pile of Garra = Joy.
will they eat fish slime?
Hi do you know how long til their fully grown? Ours had a big growth sprout but seem to have slowed down growing, their about the same size as yours. PS great video thanx, subscribed & liked x
Thanks for the sub and like, NAR! There are so many factors that contribute to fish growth that it is hard to give a specific time. I've never actually tracked their growth rate, but I had some that grew from 2" to full grown in about 5 months (if memory serves).
Love mine!
Their energetic personalities never disappoint!
I LOVE PANDA GARRA! Nice footage! You mentioned the Hillstream loach... could they go in the same tank, together? Just curious! 😁
P.S. Is that still "busy beard", or are you celebrating no-shave, November? 😉
November is over, and the beard is still here, so, I guess it is busy beard :)
Yes. Panda Garra and hillsteam loaches would be just fine together, IMO.
Mine was eating the slime off goldfish so I had to transfer it to another tank.
How about the jumping? I read they sometimes find a small opening and...
Oh, yes. They will climb right out of a tank without a tight lid.
Would one eat my black devil spike snail ? I just bought one but didn't check too see if they eat snails also would the be OK to share a tank with ottos. 65g tank.
Will they eat chiclid eggs or fry ?
👍
🕶🎸
The other fish you mentioned in with the panda garras, could you type name as could find on websearch, thanx in advance x
Sure. They are young Geophagus winemilleri
Are those repashy soilent green you are feeding?
I tend to mix soilent green in with community blend for the garra. Most fish don't really like the soilent green much, so I cut it 50/50.
I love these videos! Sorry I haven’t been around. Got a new job at a start up making robot tractors. It’s super cool but long 12 hour days. 😞 I did put up a time laps on my channel if you wanna check it out.
I've seen a few VC pitches for autonomous farm equipment. Looks like a very exciting field. I hope you are having a great time building the future!
#Dans fish i need a few of these are they for sale yet?
I'm sold out of them at the moment. I do hope to get more in soon.
What type of Repashy is that?
I have Panda Garras in a few tanks .. one in a SA Puffer tank who goes bonkers for Earthworm pieces.. pushes / carries it from one side of the tank to the other! He knows when it hits the water as i only give them to the puffer 1 or 2x a month!
Community blend
@@justicecountryman4060 TY!
Poppa Rock, that is the standard Community Repashy. Sometimes, I cut it with some Soilent Green to get more veggies into those garras.
