I have watched a lot of these chain saw mill concoctions and this is the best version I’ve seen. This is more costly I’m sure, however

Hi Andreas, I am doing well and had come in from doing yard work and saw that you had posted a video. It is hot and humid today on the coast, much hotter inland though. That is a very portable and easy to use mill apparently simple enough that one person can easily operate it.
Dennis St.Germaine Yea it is awesome, easy to run and easy to move. The only thing is that the saw it self weigh a lot. We are also having very hot weather here.

Logosol make some good products. I purchased one of these mills second hand back in 2000. It was only their second model with a serial number of 003. Used in in Australia to mill hard solid australian harwoods with a 395XP Husky. No problem.

Thanks Rebecca, I will do more detailed videos on the sawmill in the future. I love my 6 wheel, I use it all the time. Before I had a quad with a wagon but it got stolen. But the insurance company did well and I could buy the 6 wheel instead.
Greetings from off grid Oregon, I like your mill. I use an Alaskan mill if I have a log that is over 21' long as the WoodMizer will only cut 21' I put a boat winch on one years ago that worked well. I use an old 051 Sthil on our old chainsaw mill. Your mill is very well engineered Andreas. Have a blessed night!

Offgrid.se It was in the 50s and raining yesterday. I needed a fire this morning but it got to 70f today. It should get warm here in July and a week or so in August then we are back to rain and snow lol. That said we have a much warmer climate than you do I think.

How could you possibly say FREE, You have cost of chainsaw,the set up,gas,oil,time. these are just a few of the expense's. Common MAN!
I'm sorry, but the idea of a chainsaw mill is that you can easily take it to your tree, fell the tree, and make boards on the spot, no tractor needed to move the trees.
If you're going to make something this size I'd really suggest a Swing Blade mill. You will save in effort, time, blade cost, and material loss due to blade thickness.

It's nice to see someone actually cutting usable boards with one of these. It seems that all the rest just cut 2-4 inch slabs the width of the tree. What can you use that crap for anyway other than making some really large table. I've never seen anyone resaw the stuff to make it in usable sizes. Thank you!

I was able to get a new updated pacemaker for my heart which allows me to operate a chainsaw now. I cannot wait to purchase one and and Alaskan Chainsaw mill to mill my own lumber off my mountain for my tree house build. I will have to search to find where you built your chainsaw drive unit.

I have a Jonsered mill made in Sweden that uses an 89 cc Jonsered or Husqvarna (un modified saw) that runs on wheels on rails at ground level so the logs don't have to be lifted - much simpler and more economic system (but they don't make them anymore)

@@offgridsweden Its home built..My uncle built one fresh out of WW2 using the gearing and engine..Made a ton of money .I always thought it would neat to follow in his tracks.He was an inventor .Mine is just for kicks. Never had an erector kit as a kid.So its think,invent,build,rebuild ,invent,build again..Haven't struck an arc since high school.So its been a bunch of head ache in a way but very rewarding. Yup , I'm in an older rv park on the Oregon coast , I take care of all the handy man work for the trade of no rent or power bill , I stay in a nice 5th wheel trailer , that I'm rebuilding it while I stay in it ,
I watched the far side of the chain bar and it seemed to be moving somewhat up and down in sync with the turning of your feed crank. Are you seeing any wave in your cut or is it fairly straight? Looks like a nice unit and quite simple which is what one strives for. Thankyou for sharing!
It's fairly straight. I have adjusted sinse then and don't got any wobble anymore. The boards and beams that I'm cutting don't have to be perfect but it's always nice to try to produce quality lumber. Have an amazing weekend Shemon, and don't forget to subscribe for more videos 😉

It's Pinus sylvestris or Scots Pine in English. It might be good for some furniture. I use it to build buildings and repair our old house. The dimensions I need can't be bought in Sweden. Have a great weekend

If you place boards under the feet of the sawmill you’ll experience it more stable and won’t wobble as much, also, have a look at the rubber wheels under the sled. They seem to be stuck and probably worn. Replace them and you will have a much easier time moving the sled. And for safety, wear chainsaw pants as well instead of standing that wide. Your back will thank you later. Nice video and nice setup *thumbs up*

Its all bought from Logosol.all the current specs are available on the homepage. My saw is very old. Have an amazing day Adam.
How about hardwoods like cherry, maple, or oak? Pine is an easy cut. What about the power source? AC, DC? size wire? Does the motor get hot and shut off? Interesting mill. No gas
There is no problem with hardwood if you got a sharp chain. Its AC and I dont know the wire size. The motor never gets so hot that is shuts off. Have an amazing Thursday!
@@offgridsweden thanks. I ended up milling over 800 board feet with my 18 inch Stihl and the small Alaskan mill. It took a long time to get it done, but now I've got Cherry drying on the porch and properly stickered.
How many rpm does the chain mill turn ? Is this something you made or did you buy it ? It's lots easier than regular chain saw mill.

I would love to have a bandsaw mill, they are superior. But I got a really good price on my mill and I couldn't afford one at the time.

Love the set up , i have a gas powered band saw mill and it has it's good points but have one with an electric motor seems more friendly , and your blades seem to go through so easily ? are they designed for this type of cutting ?

Hi and thanks for watching. You havent followed me so you don't know the story behind. But in almost every video I talk about "the journy". So one day we will be there. One day we will be totaly off grid. For now I got a total of 43 solar panels with a production of about 120 kWh every sunny day and yes we have 3 face electricity from that. Have an amazing week man.

I have an Alaskan chainsaw mill and a mini mill to trim the edges and if you take your time setting it up right it does an awesome job. I run them with a big Husky. I liked the looks of your mill till I saw it run and I hope you keep working with it to get the slop out of it. It doesn't look like it would cut a very wide board and I was wondering what's the widest it will cut. It looks comfortable to run and may cut what you need and that's what counts anyway. Have fun and be safe young man and good luck on all your projects. I liked the guys idea of mounting the base on boards and anything you can do to stiffen the thing up is going to give you better cuts. I think the machine has good potential just needs some tweaks ! I liked the video because it was so different and I have not seen one like that before.

It’s a great mill if you can lift the log on to it. Most logs you can’t.

What’s the electrical source, 110-220? Amps motor pulls? Size ofa solar homestead array keep up with those requirement?
The electrical source is 400v and it pulls about 3,5 amp. The solar array I got has 46 solarpanels and produces about 14 kW. But that is on the other homestead. Have an amazing weekend.

Yea, not the first time I had that suggestion. I would like an automated system for it but it costs about $2000. A cordless drill don't work. You can't get it to move at the right speed and right preasure against the wood. But it would be much cheeper if it worked. Have an amazing weekend man!

How many kilowatts is the bandsaw motor? Also, how does the cutting speed compare to a conventional chainsaw, such as a Stihl MS660?
It's an old electric motor and I think it's about 3.5 kilowatts. I would think the cuttingspeed is a little bit better then a ms660 but I have never tried one so I really dont know for sure. Have an amazing week!

Kenneth Stensrud Thanks for the comment. The rail is about 6 meter long so that takes up that place. The other parts can be taken apart so it don't take any room at all. A bit late, but ain’t the “saw rail” separable at the middle making it only 2 Swedish meters as it’s longest part, and the wood “table” on which you place the log on that is shaped like a “ h “ are only about 1 Swedish meter wide and about 1,20 high? The crossmembers that hold the stability are also the longer parts but they’re thin. If you’re thinking about picking apart in between usage. I believe the website is www.logosol.com (or .no for you, Kenneth Stensrud). The new “cheap” sawmill is called Farmers sawmill F2 I believe. Good luck =)

I am in Maine, recently bought the F2+
When I went to buy the Schiller fuel injected saw they told me , and correctly, that science I have had shoulder surgery , I would not be able to pull start any saw over 50cc. I tried it. They were right.
I asked if I could start the Stihl fuel injected using both hands..they said no.
But it appears that the F2+. Is stable enough so that I could start the saw.. using both hands to pull the cord

Are you using a Logosol F2 mill? I have a full size M8 mill, which is an older model. I like your electric saw chainsaw, but it is way out of my price range, so I am using a Stihl MS660 chainsaw.
Some of mine is F2 parts. I bought an a old used one from a guy that didn't get any good results out of the mill. I kept the aluminum profile that the saw was running on and the saw that I fixed so it was running well. The legs and the risers and stock holders are F2. Wouldn't afford buying a new electric saw from Logosol either. Have a great Sunday

No, that's not possible. There are systems to automatically pull the saw but those cost around $1000. A cordless drill drives to hard, it don't adjust the speed depending on how much resistance there is in the log and how easy the chain cuts. Have an awesome Thursday!

Is it me or did the blade lift and drop every time you turned the handle causing these boards are not consistent?
The slides where worn and there was a small wobble. All the lumber was fine. There is not used for precision carpeting 😁 I have changed those slides an now it don't wobble any more. Have an amazing weekend Mr Zippy and thanks for watching!
Base of saw needs adjustment to the rail, too much play . But a very nice saw nonetheless, cheaper than a band mill !

Has anybody else noticed how much the chain bar floats up and down? I don't think setup would be good for large slabs.
I have adjusted the sliders on the saw and it's more exact now. I'm using a really thin chain and bar as well. For larger slabs you will use a thicker bar and chain. Have an amazing week man!
Whats the red sawmill frame in the background?
When I bought the electric saw it came with the homemade red stand. It was hard to work with that so I replaced it with the stand in the video. Have a great Monday man!

dont rev the chainsaw with the chainbrake on, not good for the clutch. also let the saw warm up for a minute before cutting. all parts are cold and will wear down much faster when you do that.
and i would have replaced that crank handle with a cordless drill. much easier.
Thanks for the tip about the chainsaw. To replace the crank handle with a cordless drill wouldn't be a good idea. The saw will cut uneven and you get small waves in the bords. There is an add on to have it cut automatic but it's to expensive. I get a good workout 😁 Have a great weekend.
great weekend to you to. altough i would like to share my opinion about crank handle/ cordless drill. when you are cranking it you are emitting a force in 2 ways every turn (by your own arm pulling the crank down and up), a drill would only force it one way since its a constant and equal motion from begin to finish. but ofcourse i could be wrong, im in the process of making something like that myself with a drill attachement, so hopefully ill find out soon :D
