To live vicariously through your children is a dangerous place.
Very well said!
everyone lives though their kids.
No it’s not! Why not give your child something you never had or got to experience? You were once that age and know now how it is. I think she did a good job.
@@EricaEarth No they do not! Adults who had a healthy childhood FREE OF TRAUMA experience their children’s lives but don’t try to relive their lives through their children. You need to see a therapist to deal with your pathology!
@@jeriad7scott312 It’s extremely unhealthy and clearly the Mother needs to see a therapist to deal with her childhood trauma. Where does it stop? Forcing her to go to the college she WISH she had gone to? Married the type of man she wished she would have married? Live where she wished she would have lived? It’s the daughters life and her Mother cannot live it for her! Clearly you have childhood trauma as well! See a therapist please!
If you are not trying to brag, why post the prices?
Make it Make Sense
Some of her fans probably would have asked even if she hadn't so that's why she might have done it.
Beacaue it was a trend on tick tok to post your prom break down
Philly with all their weak women who likes attention and makes the news. Guess what? Your the attention to the next robbery
Exactly 💯, definitely agree, & go on a talk show
I would have invested that money. Prom is just one day, but it wasn’t my money.
What makes you believe she doesn't have money invested?
@@scribe712, she could have had $16K MORE invested.
It's silly, but it's her money.
Yup
What will she spend on college/uni graduation and her wedding day....sell/ mortgage her house? To me, it's not wisdom, just sentiment! However, it IS her perrogative!
Just dumb as hell
A wedding yes but a prom absolutely not.
Neither. Not for average earners.
@@Pleaseopenyoureyes What qualifies as average earners? Most of the people I know earn $75,000 - $100,000 per year.
Average in US is 48-52 thousand
My point exactly 🤷🏽♀️
I’m not spending $16k on a wedding either & I definitively can afford to do so. It just doesn’t make sense to me.
Social media is the mirror that shows us the good, the bad, and the crazy amongst us.
💯💯💯
ZOOMED IN BINGO 🎯❗ RIGHT HERE
I went to my prom in 1979. My mom made my prom dress and my homecoming dress. I felt beautiful and I have the wonderful memories. Thank you mom from heaven above for all the love you gave and the things you and daddy taught me.❤
.
How does someone "love" Celebrities, they don't even know? This is why they act the way they do !
I went to prom in 79 and also. Mom and I shopped for my dress at the mall. Something my mom could afford.
Times were different then.
I went to a prom in 1973. My dress was 12.99. My mom bought it. End of story.
They could’ve zoomed this discussion. Tamron could’ve asked: why mom didn’t go to prom, has mom gotten the opportunity to get glam and go out, is college paid for, does the daughter have a car, savings account, how are her grades…. Disclosing prices on social media brought the public into the conversation.
jealousy is ugly. Get your food stamps and be proud of it and stop putting rich people down.
Tamron started off by saying , this is a judge free zone. Therefore, she wasn't going to ask that. The one thing I love about Tamron is she seems to keep her word. She will probably never have any guest walked off the set upset by a discussion they decided on before filming.
Why should Tamron ask these racist questions? Would you suggest these questions had the mom been white? Many times people waddle into conversations and insert themselves into it. Clearly they can handle it financially and Tamron asked that question. Assuming that basic things like a car and a college fund are likely not taken care off is just you looking at it from whatever low expectations you have of these people. And don’t for one second think I assumed you are white. I didn’t.
@@kasmirsdaughter6211 right! People spend way more on bar mitzvahs and quinceañeras without being judged and questioned. We shouldn’t be so judgmental or invested in how people spend THEIR money.
Yes. It her money it just wasn’t a wise decision to spend that amount for a H.S. Prom.
Sound like she is out living her inner child to her own daughter
Parents do that all the time. Nothing new or unusual about that.
Yaaas
$16,000?! That’s insane
The mom is trying to be the daughter's best buddy, not being a parent 5eaching valuable lessons of working to earn things even why the mom didn't go to prom because no one asked her, others worked part time after school to 0ay for the dress, shoes, hair. Don't need a new car, limo. The m9m wants to live thru the daughter vicariously. She's doing the daughter a disfavor, .it's not teaching her a valuable lesson
@@veev2561 Nothing in that video suggests her mother is trying to be her best buddy. Sounds like her mother was trying to live vicariously through her. But never did either of them indicate they don't have a normal mother-daughter relationship. Or are you suggesting parents who pay for their kids to attend college, pay for weddings or help with down payments on homes, are trying to be their kids' buddies too?
Vicarious living smh 🤦🏽♂️
A year of college tuition .
16k for prom is ridiculous. Thank goodness I've never felt the need to spend obscene amounts of money to keep up with others....nor do my children. My teen got a $50 thrifted dress and jazzed it up for prom, she did her own hair and makeup. I let her drive my benz & spent under $100 filling the tank. In total under $300
Now that’s what’s up!!!❤❤❤ I spent $40 on one of my girls prom dress from Poshmark and she looked absolutely gorgeous ❤❤
If you aren’t trying to brag then don’t post how much you spent! People who have real money don’t brag! Easy to spot those who want to appear super rich, and the real rich folks!
"Affording" it is not the only issue here. It's just Irresponsible and Immature! Period.
The mom is a real estate agent at Keller Realty, I'm sure she works hard for her commission, why encourage waste like this?
why are you jealous?
Funny, because when white folk do big money spending gestures for their kids. Ain't nobody saying anything negative to them. About not being able to afford it... Or them being able to pay for college nor calling them irresponsible and immature. Double standards as always with colonizer mentality. How about look at yourself and worry about you. M'kay.
$16,000 is absolutely 💯 ridiculous 🙄 & absurd. It's completely insane. What a terrible example. But it's her money 💰. College is coming. Part of the problem of issue with some of our children is that as parents we do things and raise our children based on what we had, or didn't have and sometimes that's not a good thing. We end up hurting more then helping and sometimes send the wrong message.
How is that a terrible example to her daughter? Example of what? Are you suggesting she teach her daughter than if she has money she shouldn't buy nice things for her own daughter in the future. Sounds more like most of the people posting are salty and bitter people who are envious of that mother because she has money. And NO, I wouldn't spend that much on prom either. But the reasons people are giving suggest THEY are jealous more than anything. And that's sad.
Why ?! Do yall say this when u see celebrities spending waayyyy more money on kids birthday parties?!! Probably not.
@beautifulgorgeouslovely4661 This goes for celebrities, too. Some of them are extreme.
@@scribe712 spending that much to rent a car and buy shoes is insane. Maybe the dress and hair and even the convenience of her friends all together at the hotel but at some point you're just throwing away money. The bad example is that you're buying things of no value. That money could be invested or, God forbid, given to someone in need. Teaching a kid that Jimmy Choos are a goid way to spend money is a terrible example.
@@Lodeenie, there will always be poor people or people in need. It’s really not her job to give anybody anything especially when most don’t even want to help themselves. The way I see it is it’s HER money to spend as she sees fit. It doesn’t hurt me or mine. So whatever.
Well, it made her famous. Mission accomplished 🤷🏾♀️
❤❤❤❤❤
Looks like she’s living her dreams through her daughter
Ridiculous even IF you can afford a real waste
How is it ridiculous if she can afford the expense? Seems like it would only be ridiculous if she couldn't afford it.
Broke energy!! It’s her money, Some spend $600 she spent 16,000 so what🤷🏾♂️..
@@scribe712, It’s ridiculous because $$16K invested may have grown to $60K over time. Instead, it’s money down the drain.
@@SajasLifeCanvas, I am far from broke. I made $150K last year on investment returns alone, and I think spending $16K on a prom is irresponsible.
Hot mess! People got to stop letting social media dictate their pockets. They can’t afford it!
How do you know they can’t afford it? Just wondering…
The cost to rent a car that she can’t even drive is ridiculous. The cost of the hotel for one night is ridiculous. The cost of photography and videography is ridiculous. The cost of those shoes is ridiculous. The whole cost is ridiculous. A better lesson could have been taught even while giving her daughter the prom she didn’t have.
Absolutely ridiculous. That money could have gone to a much better use. This young lady cannot even pronounce a simple word such as looked correctly.
This is how reality TV shows up in real people's lives. That money needed to be spent on grammar lessons and private school.
THIS!
EXACTLY!!!!!! I want to know what college she's going to and if she received any scholarships.🤔
@@twinsmom8 Why do you even care when she's not YOUR child? She could become a stripper and it still wouldn't change your life or increase your bank account.

I heard that too. Unfortunately, lots of kids today speak like her. They spend more on what's on their head or body than on what's in their head.
Wow, thought I was the only one thinking this! Speaking in public on national television using the wrong pronunciation of the word look! But I have no comment about her money or how she spends it.
Exactly. Sounding dumb as heck. Should've been paying a tutor.

Not your money. Not my money. You have the right to your opinion. They have the right to make bad fiscal choices.
@@Galworld761 you are right… my opinion 🙄
My grandma used to ball out on Christmas for my mother and her brothers and sisters every year. My mom said that the next day after Christmas each year her and her siblings ate beans and hots dogs. Everybody that says they “have it” really don’t have it. Lots of single mothers do stuff like this for their kids. Doing stuff like this doesn’t teach kids anything, instead it teaches them to be entitled.
Why do everybody need know how much $ they spent. Everybody dying to be seen smh

Yep it's her money but honey instead of spending it on the prom, she should be spending it on a tutor because when she said lookeded....
I said the exact same thing😮
Yes! I cringed too! ! That Money should have been spent on an English tutor !
She would have had to have been a straight A student to a 1/3 of that!
I 💯 totally agree yes your money but please respond with proper English.
I had a co-worker who spent 4,000 a few years back and I thought that was too much, but 16,000 WOW!!!!! I'm going to assume that her household finances and college tuition is set.
That may be assuming too much.
I wished Tamron would have asked some pertinent questions; are you going to college, why mom didn't go on prom, what type of career does she have, etc. I'm GUESSING, but mom probably didn't go to her prom because she was pregnant with daughter.
I wish I had $16k
she told on herself: she's projecting. she should have spent that money on therapy
So she is vicariously living through her daughter. Case closed. Also, treating your kids like this makes them so much harder to deal with in relationships in general.
This is the funny thing. Rich people don't spend that kind of money on prom. My daughter attends a private high school where the tuition was 55k this school year. I'm a teacher and could never afford to pay that but she goes there on scholarship. She went to her Junior Prom this year and all the kids in the group that she went with chipped in to pay for a limo. She had the fanciest dress out of all the girls but all I paid was about $300 for her dress and shoes. None of her wealthy friends parents would have wasted that kind of money on a prom. Priorities people, priorities.
She lost me at “lookded cute” 🫤
Me too! “Lookted” smh! Where was the young man?
Should have spent that money on tutor and enhancement of her mind versus her looks.
Wonder if she’s on honor roll, or gets good grades; just curious.
Priorities…
I hope her mom has that money to pay her tuition!
Shamefully indulgent! Ridiculous and wasteful! This mother lacks emotional intelligence...so immature to spend that kind of money for something so frivolous just to live vicariously through her daughter. And what is this teaching her daughter?
This child couldn't get a JOB to earn part of the cost of the prom? What happened to teaching children the value of a dollar and what it takes to earn the things that they want? She'll never know the satisfaction of working hard to achieve a goal! And $16,000 for a PROM? That's CRAZY!!!
Moreover, it occurs to me, after hearing this child speak, that investing that money in a tutor to help improve and enhance her language skills would've been a much wiser use of those funds.
(Investing in our children's education is an investment in their future that pays dividends throughout their lives.)
A case of wasted money and wasted opportunities to teach her daughter invaluable life lessons!
PRIORITIES anyone?VALUES...? SMH🤦♀️
I spent 1500.00 on my kid in 2013. My youngest private school tuition is 16k a year. They are not rich, if they were, they wouldn't have rented a luxury vehicle or it wouldn't have cost so much to rent. Rich people get alot for free. Im sure the dealer would have loaned it to them as a favor for a high profile customer.
This had no substance, meaning. Mom didn't have a prom experience she threw 16k at her daughter's prom. Daughter can't even tell you how it was worth it. This wasn't even story worthy. Parents are doing this these days and it's their choice. If they got it or beg, borrow, or steal, it is their choice.
During 60's Black folks had Debutante Balls but never this much money.😊
Jack and Jill is still going strong.
Debutantes and Cotillions are still going strong today….even then $16k is not spent.
Thats crazy. That could pay for 4 college semesters here in Canada. I hope she lives a long happy healthy life
Is this an African American cultural thing rooted in slavery and trying to prove to the world we are equal and can be luxurious? I notice on thr West Coast lots of wealthy kids are not spending money like this on prom. But on the east coast and down south black kids are spending like crazy.
Where's her college fund???!!!!
Foolishness at its worst
Her college fund is in that dress and those shoes. LOL!
What was the purpose of this segment? Lol you wanted attention and you got it.
What an irresponsible story...Tamron challenged them NOT AT ALL!!! 🤦♀️ SMH
But why do ppl need to be challenged regarding how they spend their money?
That's what the prom is for. They decorate the prom venue. You don't need all that at the house.
We had a small prom getaway party for my granddaughter. Probably spent a couple hundred on decorations and food for a few guests. It was fun and we created some great memories, but we kept it within reason and didn’t go overboard.
Thats just stupid! WHy you going broke for prom
I hope her daughter doesn’t expect her to pay for college or her wedding
Yes it’s her money , but what a waste ..what is her expectations for a wedding or college ? , a prom , nah ..😬😬😬
She looked so beautiful and mom I’m sorry you didn’t get to attend your prom! ❤️🥰🤗
What I find funny is people complain that people have something to say about what they do. They wouldn't know unless you told it.. So you wanted people to know , you were bragging lets keep it real
and $4000 for a rental car they took your money sweetheart they saw you coming.. No car cost that much to rent luxury or not
Mum probably could have just bought her daughter some followers to blow up her page for less money
It sends a really bad message,it's why how gen z act so entitled, spoiled brats, kids of famous, wealthy families, parents expecting everything to thumb their noses at those who are not wealthy.being in 5he middle, helps produce morals, character, integrity
To say that you weren't trying to flex on the cost is hard to believe. If you weren't trying to rub it in others face, why mention the cost? This was all about showing others up and I truly believe that the mother's intent was to do just that a sign that they are wealthy (not sure if they are or not). However, it is her money and she can do with it what she pleases. I just think it sends the wrong message of over indulgence.
I have one question: does this Mom have 16,000 in her daughter’s bank account?? Does she have her a bank account?? If she does then great , if not she needs to learn priorities!!!
If she doesn't, how does that affect you? Serious question!
If you have to ask the question it’s apparent that you don’t have 16,000 in your bank account either and evidence that you don’t understand the concept here. Have an amazing day!!!
@@user-gy3vg6ne7r , oh, I will have an amazing day. Thanks. I hope you do too. What I have in my account doesn't have your name on it, so it has no effect on your life. Neither does that mother/daughter duo.

Nah. We keep our money in the family as much as possible. We already have nice cars (no need to rent), different style clothes for different occasions. Shoes nah. To be a fool will make life much much more difficult. They didn’t mention what dad thought..
It's their money; they can do whatever they want with it. However, seeing how they put it out there, I've formed an opinion. $16,000 on a prom? That's ridiculous. Heck, $6,000 on a prom is ridiculous. It's a prom!!! It would've been wiser to invest that money into a down payment for a home or towards an education. I hope they don't look back on that decision one day and regret it.
Exactly 💯, But i honestly think mom will, she is sending that child the wrong message, IF she gets married I doubt her husband will be spending 💰 like that..🤔🤷🏽♀️
Dumb!!!!!
Ridiculous. And we will all bail her out when she declares bankruptcy
At the end of the day , it is her money , people have a right to make their choices. Life is short if that makes her happy then let her be. I see people gamble more than that .
I hope there is more than $16000 for her daughter's college fund
As a mom, I understand the thought process!
We love our children and many of us work and live to see the smiles on their face(s). When we can financially afford it, we don’t look at price tags.
Crazy mama. $16k. Is RIDICULOUS
I barely spent that much on my beachfront resort wedding. I hope she invests that much in her future!! Lookted? 😑
Well maybe invest in some English classes "looked cute"..That price is just a waste of money even when you are wealthy. Mom trying to live through the kid.
It’s sad when parents say; I didn’t get to do this or that, therefore they live through their kids.
16K is a college semester!!
There are different versions of "I got it". Hopefully for them it's the version that includes the paid off home, cars, and credit cards. None the less, it was a great experience for her in her world and time that she will always remember 💕 😊
Good, bad, or indifferent. It's called CHOICE! Let that Simmer!😀
