Easiest subscribe ever! I'm still trying to wrap my head around oil washes, too heavy handed and rub off the paint underneath. Not giving up yet though.
@@WitnessMyMinis I subscribed straight away great work! Keen to see more. I've thought of starting a channel at least once but seems like more work than I care for, hard enough getting through painting all my models
Thanks !!! Not that long at all the more thinned the faster the drying time . That said when only a wash is used and you do a thorough cleaning where the highlights will go I never wait I go in with acrylics right away.
I love the gore effect, but how sturdy are the superglue strings? Will they easily get snapped if I were to do that with regular tabletop minatures for play?
Very cool! Love so many aspects of this, but seeing your techniques is particularly helpful. Can you tell me, what's the name of the glue you used to create the strands of gore on the back?
Thanks for the kind words Andrew! of course its regular UHU glue , I've understood that it goes under different names depending on the country : static.panduro.com/ArticleImages/1200x1200/652474_60.webp
It depends on what you mean with an enamel wash(oil washes is the same thing) , but if you mean like streak and grime there is some difference! First of all the premixed enamel washes on the market tends to be drab colors when you can make an oil was your self and mix it to get different results . Since you can mix it to different consistenciesI find that and oil was cover the speckles from the airbrush better , the pigments will color and smoothen everything out in a wonderful way . And lastly the big thing is that if you wanna keep working with oils for creamy blends the oil was works as a pre-glaze that ever subsequent color will blend wonderful with . I plan to show this of in a future video . Hope that was an okay answer ! Come and hang out in the discord and we can go even more in-depth !!
@@WitnessMyMinis Thank you; I am looking for a brush-on "wash" for miniature figures; I can make an "Oil Wash" or purchase an "Enamel Wash" from AMMO; Trying to understand the difference of those two; Your feedback above is helpful and appreciated;
How long do you wait to remove the oil wash? I tried removing mine with white spirits and it took off the acrylic too =/ and i wasnt rubbing hard at all.
At least overnight. I airbrushed some inks for contrast then the next day, i washed it with windsor and newton oil. Waited until the next day again and tried to remove it with the white spirits. No matter how softly I tried, the inks removed as well.@@WitnessMyMinis
Love the outcome! Was pretty sceptical before seeing the oil wash, but it truly added the necessary character to your diorama. Awesome!

Wow ! Thanks for the early sub and the kind words 🙏🏼👏🏼
If you don't already, try clear coating prior to the oils

Thank you ! Its not super rigid but sturdier than you might think, let’s just say I shipped it internationally and it got there in one piece 😅

What is the difference between a home made "Oil Wash" and a pre purchased "Enamel Wash" ?

In this case I think about 30min . I think that often hasn’t to do with the spirits .
How long had it been primed ?

@@sliven21 yeah inks can be harder i usually mix my ink with mat varnish, or just be sure to varnish before you use the oil wash 😊
@@WitnessMyMinis awesome, I’ll give that a try. Thank you!!
Does the varnish have to be gloss or can I use my matte spray? Thank you soooo much again!!@@WitnessMyMinis
