    4. The "So Emotional" Video wig (featured better in the "Didn't We Almost..." live Video)
    3. The "I'm Your Baby Tonight" (circa 1992) wig (..it was shorter & closer to her face...)
    2. The "Loverman / My Man / All The Man.." wig (loose curl)
...and of COURSE, #1. ....the "It's Not Right, but It's OK" wig! (the bob) (5:01)
    *...AND, the WORST....*

    4. The " I Wanna Dance With Somebody" wig (...obvious...)
    3. The "Step By Step" wig (...too, TOO much peach!)

So between the companies that own these people, and yes mostly woman..they can control more in the look by clothing, makeup, and man MOST important the hair. I do it or use to when younger with my own hair perms (didn't like short neat afros) and loved wigs, though couldn't stand to wear them that long. I remember Ce Ce Peniston looked 50 because of the bob wig she wore in the Finally music video.
Whitney really looked the Business in the short black bob. 5:36
I personally liked the little bump-it honey coloured bob,
    but Whitney always looked stunning.
I pray that Whitney is in Heaven with Jesus.

This video was such a Kiii! The bob is truly the most iconic, but didn't she also have a brief French roll period too?

This is excellent. Well researched and hilarious. I’ve long enjoyed your essays but the humor you added to the subject of our beloved Whitney Houston launched me into the stratosphere😭
And if I have to choose…Honey Blonde Bump It!!🤪😂
    Thank you for this

Ok, I am HOLLERING. Not the Vicki Winans or bumpit wigs. I CANNOT😂😂
However, if you gonna dedicate a wig breakdown of Whitney, you better do a wig breakdown of the 2 BEASTS of wigology: TINA TURNER & PATTI LABELLE. Bah-bee...those ladies showed us how it's done!! Them wigs stayed on until THEY took em off & had us thinking they grew them out they SCALP. Tina MADE her wigs & got the human hair from Africa, ok. Do not mess with these ladies

Let's get real here....Whitney's VOICE was iconic. There is not ONE wig that wasn't like some dowdy frumpy 60's Florence Henderson sitcom house wife look. I cringe when I see most of these...especially the one in the white gown....and that's unfortunate....because "above all this" Whitney's true beauty always showed through. One wig that I did love though, was the huge afro in "I Learned From The Best" video.........

I'm hollering 😅😂😂 listen the honey bump-it and "The Bob" were my favorites ❤ Heartbreak Hotel is the Top Wigs but "If 6 of yall went out, huh.... Then 4 of you were really cheeeeap, yeah, 'cause only 2 of you had dinner, I found your credit card receipt-eipttttt"😅 The Bob gave those lyrics power🎉😂

I don’t get the whole sell out thing. So according to black folks, black artists are just supposed to cater to blacks people? 13% of the population? Instead of catering to all and making more money??? I can’t! Anyway, I love her ladies who lunch wig!

Listen! This was important, and enlightening! You should do this discussion with a few other important artists. How about talking about Prince's and MJ's hair choice journeys? It's easy to speak about women - how about male artists?

As a white boy who grew up in the era of Donna Summer, and Charlie's Angels, I find the whole wig thing perplexing. I thought it was Donna's real hair (Ma'am, it that your hair? Yes, I have the receipt right here!) It must be a bother feeling that you need a wig, and that your own hair is somehow not enough. All I know is that Susan on Sesame Street had an afro, as did a lot of women from the early 70's... but not Diana Ross... hmmm....

    • @BlackMusicArchive
      @BlackMusicArchive  Рік тому +3

It's not that their hair is not enough. Many black female singers such as Diana Ross, Tina Turner, Patti LaBelle and Whitney herself have talked about how the constant dying, processing, frying of their hair cause irreparable damage, so many of them have very little hair due to the demands of the business, some wear the wigs to prevent damage to their hair.

That Bob wig was the Cheapest looking on her. She could've bought that cheap wig on Central Ave, it was so through.
All her wigs were tired except the: "I Run to you and the 1 of those Days" wigs
