As a new player, I have been melting my brain watching guide videos for two days trying to figure out the perfect build that can run all content (mutations, raids, luck for farming, opr, open world pvp/duels) with minimal respec/regearing needed. These guides have been really helpful, but I’m also beginning to despair and realize I will just need multiple builds to be highly effective in such varied content
That's were a lot of the gametime comes from. Tons of time for first optimized gearset to make further gearsets easier to grind. Lots of different things to build for
Honestly I’ve put over 500 hours into this game (it was when the game first came out I played on pc. Stopped playing until it came out on console) now that it is out on console I’m playing again and I have no clue what I am doing. After over 500 hours of gameplay I’m still lost 🤦♂️
The commenter wasn't talking about using life taker as your damage dealing weapon. They were saying to equip it and use your fire staff because now your fire staff also applies disintegrate
I tried this kind of build long time ago with Blooddrinker and Magnetic gauntlet. I tried combining both together and separately, and in the end, i decided to use no one. I lose too much damage, and the critic passive heals you more when you do more damage. So losing damage means you heal for less, and you need to hit more often. The void gauntlet already has a lot of critical hits and is enough to get good heals. Also, in this game, a guy that outputs more damage is going to kill you even if you have lifesteal because in this game, finish your opponent in 2 seconds is better than try a sustain build. Lifesteal is good for group fights where you have an open window to move and hit your opponents. But in a 3v3 fight, your opponents will just kite you because you don't output enough damage and wait for cds and be full hp to burn you down, and your lifesteal is not gonna save you.
Better on the armour. I tried voracious blade in the weapon, and it is only effective when you're under 50% health just to heal a little bit more. Is a waste. I have in my weapon enchanted, keen and void attunement.
I already had BD on legacy. 10% Stamina or Jewel slot doesn't change anything. The upgrade is a few attribute points unless you commit to a damage perk which I'm not a fan of over Keen Awareness
Blooddrinker will heal you more than magnetic gauntlet. But the gauntlet will also benefit you in lowering your cds quickly. In other words you will do with magnetic gauntlet pro attack a critical hit that will do the same damage as a normal hit without magnetic gauntlet, but it will heal and refresh your cds quickly. Blooddrinker will give you sustain, but you need to be able to hit your opponents and probably run lifesteal in your weapon also to make it more effective. In my after testing both artifacts in combination and separately, I decided to use no one and go for elemental band, tumbler feet/ ironhearth/ void darkplate and put voracious blade and critical retribution in my armor pieces to have some sustain without really relying on it. My weapon has enchanted, keen and void attunement.
Getting mentioned a vid, litttt💪🏾. Also yeah lifetaker isn’t that good with fire staff due to perks. I’m using a pvp 699 void gauntlet with keen, viscous, and nullifying oblivion. Made a 725 blood drinker and added keen awareness just so I could get the maximum healing off my crits with that and my void gauntlet.
Jewelry Matrix and Chromatic seal investment this early is bold, but powerful. If I like the Electric hammer more I might go Electric Damage and all in on that forever

I think the dex passives doesn't help you too much in doing more damage as the int tree. Lifetaker is better to pair it with a ranger weapon since also the perks it has are not good for a void blade build.

Hi there, pvp VG main here. BLOODDRINKER IS TRASH, change my mind: The simplified math is as follows: base weapon * skill modifier * base dmg modifiers * empower. The value that the blooddrinker affects is base dmg modifiers. Since you can have different modifiers, the blooddrinker 25% not always represent a "real" 25%. Lets say you have a damage value of 1000 and base dmg modifiers up to +100% (ultimate chill 25%, deep freeze 15%, windchill perk on weapon 40%.. etc). That would mean that you have 1000 * (1+1) = 2000 damage. With blooddrinker you would have 25% less, so 1000 * (1+0.75) = 1750. As you can see, you are loosing a 25% base damage, which translates in a 12'5% of final damage lost. Every weapon is balanced between having empower and base damage. Most have a bit of both, but some have only one source to increase the damage. The two classical examples are, precisely, IG and VG. The ice gauntlet has a total amount of 0% empower, with peaks of about +150% weapon base damage mod. The VG has a total amount of 0% weapon base damage mod, while having way over the 50% empower cap in its kit. In short: bloddrinker only has real value for weapons that have a great amount of weapon base damage modifiers. Since empower can be capped from a lot of sources (perks, gems on weapon, runeglasses, skills, other weapons, honning stones...) while base damage is VERY restricted for a specific weapon (you have what you have, plus the attribute perks plus most weapon gems), you are really not interested in going under +50% base damage modifier. IMO it's only worth when the 25% effect is halved, which is, at +100% modifiers. And this is imposible for the VG. You are loosing a 20% constant damage in anything you do to get a 25% lifesteal. BUT WAIT, THAT IS NOT EVEN A REAL 25% LIFESTEAL EITHER. Why? easy: you are dealing 20% less damage, so you are healing 20% less from all other sources. Voracious blade? 20% less healing. You crit? 20% less healing. Essence rupture same. Even for the lifesteal perks on ring and weapon. If you deal 100 damage with leeching and lifestealing, you would heal about 15. If you equip blooddrinker, you will be dealing 80 damage, from which you'll be healing (15%+25%)*1.05 (from blooddrinker passive, +5% to all lifesteal), which is 33,6. I know it sounds good, but it is not. Blooddrinker it's just the worst version of running leeching and lifestealing for any weapon without a high base damage modifier. For solo content is great, for any other content has an overall negative impact. You don't need always that lifesteal, you'll be capped at max health, you'll have healers, and you'll be making less useful your voracious blade perk, since you're making harder to be under 50% health. VG already has more lifesteal than it needs, what you need is damage. The healing is only important when needed, not always. And when needed, better run endless thirst, essence rupture (if pve of vg as support weapon) or literally anything else than blooddrinker. What you are feeling, what you are seeing when healing from 0 to 100% it's just the uptime value making a big entrance, but it's not the value itself.
@Verlisify Magnetic gauntlets are also a bad item for VG except for VG support on wars (and only due to cdr while hitting 5 targets). Void damage on ring and retaliate gem it's also a terrible decision, since you should be already capped at 50% empower (+30% from empowering proximity, +10% while above 50% mana and +7% from honning stone). You can go a bit over that, to prevent being weakened, but gem+damage perk on ring is +31%. Endless thirst is the best option as for jewelry, azoth conductors for armor. You can go with ironheart if you want that kind of "leeching inmortal" thing. To improve your leeching potential you need only need to be under 50% health more time. That is easy to get without losing a crap ton of damage: more health and more defenses on armor perks.
@@pepezumos Blooddrinker is the best item in the game and a 100% run on any build where you aren't being babysat by a full focus healer. Without it you are almost half as sustainable I have tested with many different weapons and perks and nothing comes close to matching the difference in sustain.. Damage in this game is way too inconsistent to actually lay out on paper. More void damage or empowerment stacks keep causing damage and efficiency to go up. The actual damage effect stacking in game is held together by chewed gum and rubber bands
@@Verlisify I agree with you that blooddrinker is convenient for not competitive scenarios and I also agree with you that the math is not completely consistent ingame, but the damage formula is not made of dreams and willpower either. I've been damage testing this game since release, for three years. Although it's not accurate, damage increases or decreases are predicatable within a margin of error. Yes, without it you have half the sustain, as stated in my previous comment where you can check the math. You will get aproximately 30% lifesteal vs 15% lifestal. that's precisely my point. It's just not worth losing 20% of damage because of that. You would be better of running void blade on weapon instead of enchanted and lose a 5% damage to get a net +20% lifesteal when under 50% health (when needed). About stacking over 70% empower, is just pointless. The comunity have been damage testing this game since release, if that was the case (you can stack infinite empower), I think that me and everybody else would know. Especially the more math-oriented players, like the youtubers Mecrow or DukeSloth. I'm not saying all of this out of spite or to prove that I'm right and have and ego trip, I'm just passionate about math and optimization. And I think that if a person like you with a big subscriptor base and therefore, a big impact on the comunity, give somewhat not accurate advice, that would be a pitty for anybody following advice blindly.
Ah, btw, is it possible that the empower cap thing is related to how damage increases are labeled ingame? There is a lot of misslabeling, like empowering leaping strike does NOT give empower, it gives base damage. There are lists online about what is what, independently of the ingame labeling.
@@pepezumos On paper isn't the only way to be math-oriented. You still need to test in the real world which is how I concluded BD is better lifesteal through dozens and dozens of the same pulls in different loadouts. When you swing the VG while getting hit the speed you heal back up in game is quicker than expected from the math. You also really don't want to be below 50% in high level content since you just get one shot or if you get staggered you get comboed out. You also dont want to lose 5% perma damage for a sometimes healing perk that doesnt change much when you have blooddrinker. Its not spite when I have put dozens of hours of math and testing into Blooddrinker which is more than my empower testing. I did some more testing to find out how empower cap applies to the build. Its only 10% over which isn't bad if you get pulled out of oblivion. Keen awareness is the better Blooddrinker perk overall but I wanted to try the specialization and perma damage uptime

Keen awareness is the better Blooddrinker perk overall but I wanted to try the specialization and perma damage uptime
illegal dmg perks on that spear man like ser gs O-o but that is an artfact have you comfimed they stack?. So damn tierd we can´t upgrade the old 700 named gear feals like thye did trow out the rule book when crafting alowing perks togather in some builds are just damn op i have a perfect solo roaming hatchet but it´s locked behind that wall we cant make old named 700 gs should be upgraded to 725 it´s not liek every one is running hive ore even enjoy it.
