      I remember the Acura Legend. Those cars were so solid and bullet proof the Acura Service Centers at their dealerships complained about not having any business for the first few years. Yeah Acura was hitting it out of the park with the NSX, the Integra, and the Type R. Then they lost their appeal. The MDX is their biggest seller now.

    This was a very professional video. I agree with the owner completely. I think the first generation Acura Legend coupes, especially an LS model with a 5 speed manual, is one of the best looking and most durable Japanese car. Even the Japanese don't build them like that anymore. Those coupes are getting harder and harder to find. Nice to see the owner loves it stock and is working hard to hunt down all the necessary parts to keep it original!

Of course it is not easy to demonstrate his art (and high standards) in mass production. That is why he designed/built the Legend and the NSX. Thank you Scotty Kilmer, Thank you Alex

      Issues, not breakdowns. I had the master brake cylinder go at around 150k on each, ball joints going around the same mileage and simple interior bits break around the same time. Never had any engine problems short of the EGR on my latest which I hear is a consistent problem with these.

    I worked as a service adviser at a Acura dealer from 1987 -1995 when Acura bought back some franchises due to lack of sales. Acura eliminated the Integra and in 91 came out with a new version of the Legend which was very poor. Sales fell off immediately and never recovered. They also came out with the Vigor (it was later changed to the TL) which had an inline 5 cylinder engine. POS .
    I agree the 90 model LS was the best Legend ever made.. BTW great video. I had forgotten some of the features of that car..

    My first car purchase was a 91 Acura Legend back in 05. I LOVED that car. The combination of what seemed like lower gearing and a 200hp v6, that car seemed to just fly. Acceleration was awesome and I had the speedometer reading 130+ one time with the engine willing to give more...that was with 200,000+ miles on it. I'd love to by the last model year ('95 I believe) when they had 230hp. Just a fantastic car

    Good vid, these cars were sweet back in the day, everything still works 28 years later. I'm not sure how many parts may or may not have been replaced, but that's impressive. Regarding the airbag and horn buttons that was pre-floating horn button over the airbag. Most cars only had 2 buttons that you had to hunt for if trying to beep the horn, it was especially a pain when trying to beep while turning. This car was ahead of its time with 4 horn buttons. Best of luck with her!

    I had a Prelude 88' model with 4WS fantastic car with loads of handling and grip. I also drove a Legend but in auto only, I felt it was a little under powered. I miss the late 80's -90 era of Hondas.

    This was the best winner yet, very well put together and the guy really knows his car. A lot of those nice little features would have completely gone over most people's heads as it's an older car, and people don't expect them to have convenient features such as the windshield wiper prop. Thanks for sharing, I almost want to go out and find myself a Legend now.

    • @MrGrentch
      @MrGrentch 6 років тому +4

      Seems to be alright. 😀 Pretty much every American chap or chapesse reviewing a car inevitably mentions cup holders, in number and quality. Personal theory? America is a bloody massive country and Americans often drive big mileage, so having somewhere to keep a drink or two is more in play? Australian reviewers sometimes mention them too. Canadians are likely a) too tough to care, they think freezing point is bikini time and b) too polite to ask for cupholders. 😀 In Europe our journeys are usually much shorter and Europe is more built up with more petrol stations and other places to stop for food and drink. My theory anyway. The other answer could be that Americans are just a bit odd. I personally have always found them to be a lovely people, but yeah, can be a bit quirky. 😀

    • @t0nito
      @t0nito 6 років тому

      Nobody is stereotyping, I'm just pointing out that cup holders are a big thing in America whilst in Europe it's rare to see a car with any.

      Depends... Every manufacturer has good models and bad models. Japanese makes just usually have more good ones. One make I can think of that is a nightmare is Subaru, while I would never pass on a WRX Sti, I would never buy a Forester or Outback. Too many have been branded lemons. Like hundreds... 😱

I bought it with 95,000 miles on it, in 2002 and it hit 257,000 the other day! I have to admit it's not in the great condition yours is in but the champagne body color still turns heads. Take care.
