The best rod in the Physis line for big topwater baits is the PHXC72HM. It is a carbon/glass hybrid that can easily handle heavy topwater baits when casting and the moderate action keeps them hooked up.
Save your money guys. You don’t need an expensive rod to fish top water. Many manufacturers make light well balanced top water rods with great actions for 100 bucks
Yes he did, but its worth repeating with the price of fishing gear these days. Bass rods for $1200. it's got to stop. Every time a company slaps a crazy price tag on a rod there is a wave of other manufacturers that think there rod is worth more. Jacob Wheeler use to fish with a $150. rod. Are $600 rods really putting more fish in the boat. I beat people all the time with outrageously expensive rods, reels, boats and even lures and I'm not Jacob Wheeler. All my rods are between $100-$200 and there's alot of under valued rods in that range.
I bought the Evergreen 6’8 and I absolutely hate it. There ratings seem to be way off on this line of rods. Any suggestions what I can use this rod for? I did some cranking with it and it was ok.
I have that rod and I haven’t used it much at all. I think I got it on sale. 75 size whopper ploppers and even small buzz baits and spinner baits would be ok on it. Maybe lighter swim jigs/dark sleepers. It’s kinda of a loaner rod for me or if I’m kayaking some more sketchy stretches, I wouldn’t cry if something happened to it.
What Evergreens are these ? I have the Orion Black Rose , Stargazer, and The Kaleido Great Dire Wolf ( 0.5 oz to 9 oz )are you kidding me ? They're superior to all the rest lmao
As a hardcore NRX fan, I would never use an NRX+ for any sort of reaction/moving style bait. The NRX+ was not needed in this category. But, a solid rod for topwater that wasn't mentioned and is what I personally use is a Megabass Destroyer P5 Cyclone. 6'6" and a regular taper to handle the twitches and allow give with trebel hooks.
NRX+ MBR843? Who made the decision to include that rod in this topic? Sure, it could work, just like a driver could be used to putt a golf ball on the green. My only constructive suggestion to the channel would be to maybe have a paused section showing the rod flex under load. Bouncing it on screen doesn’t do anything for me, but, as a rod builder, seeing the complete flex under load reveals a lot of helpful information. Side by side comparisons on the same grid would also reveal helpful information. Ideally, the rod placed parallel to the horizontal lines and the flex shown with a set weight pulling the tip down is a better way to compare different rods. People could load their own rods at home with the exact same weights and be able to compare their current ones to your suggestions. When you guys bounce that rod on screen, you can feel the differences, but we can’t, here at home.
@@giand5719 Sorry, I don't agree. Inaccurate information is bad, free or paid. Anyone not open to suggestions, well... that's their choice ultimately and I'll just leave it at that.
Thanx. Really NRX/Megabass for top water. Come on guys that money tree growing in my back yard is almost out of leaves.
Wish the new Diawa Kage would of been on this test

Combat Sticks. What line of rods are you taking about. I never heard of the rods you speak of?
@@jeremyduncan9165 Evergreen Orion and Inspirare , JDM from Japan . They drop for 700-1200$
The 6'8" Medium is a little soft for bigger topwaters, but we love it for a jerkbait!

Congrats Brett!
Pretty sure th EG rod is specially made for the big SB, it was popular waaay before the smaller ones got popular.
Get a Megabass Madbull. You don’t need an NRX for topwater…just saying
You don’t need a megabass destroyer P5 either…. Just saying.
