Hey man, I have a 97 Cummins and have had this same exact problem. It is most likely 3 problems. A brown wire coming out of your starter that sends power to the solenoid, the fusible link coming off your driver side battery, or the fuel shutoff relay located against the firewall on the drivers side. Mine was fixed with a $20 relay from amazon. Give it a shot man good luck 👍🏼
Those wheels will fit a chevy or CMC 8 lug up to year 2011 I believe
if you leave the key in the start position it will hold it up once you push it up

I have a '99 24valve and have had this issue before. 3 cranks before it would start and when it would start, it's fine Try loosening the fuel cap so that it's on there but not tight. Solved my issue

You should be able to just turn the key to the On position (which sends power to the solenoid) and pull the string without having to tie it, since there is power to it, it should stay open. is this not the case? It seems a bit annoying to have to tie then start then untie.

Hey man if you turn the key on first before pushing the cut off switch up it will hold itself because it works off vacuum have the same problem with my 97 dually

It doesn't run off vacuum. It's an electric magnet that pulls the solenoid up. Yes you can turn the key on and manually pull it up and it will stay but it's not vacuum. Also it's more then likely dirty and dry so its binding. Pull solenoid off, remove boot, clean, grease and reassemble. She will work again like new.
They should also have pin holding that part you pushing up to start it

your old wheels will fit duramaxs, from like 2009 and back, and the obs fords, figured id let you know so you have a better chance at selling them, and love the cummins keep up the good work, and don't let small issues hold you back lol

Look up Larry B's they hooked me up with a new shutoff and solenoid for my 96 dually decent price too compared to stock parts price. there is also an install video on youtube as well. literally is a 5-10 min job

that lever the you tied up is a manual fuel shut off not ur key shut off switch just so you know alls it is, is prolly a broken sping that holds it up if you got any questions hmu on my fb n im also intrested in thos wheels you got up for grabs

Thanks for watching! **CORRECTION** new Fuel shutoff solenoid won't cost me $250 for the part... like $50-$100... when they were saying that in forums they were meaning that'd be the cost installed at dealer!... I'll be fixing the solenoid VERY SOON! Week or so!

LOUD 'N' PROUD just run a cable to the manual fuel shut off lever on the pump to the inside of the cab and delete the electronic fuel shut, look up Tyler ovens video he does it to his first gen and he did a nice job, I'll probably do it to my first gen
There's lots of videos on UA-cam that show how to do it, it would be even cheaper than buying a solenoid and you wouldn't have that problem anymore

Own a 24v now but I've had this happen on my old 12v should it happen again you can usually turn the key on without starting it pop the hood lift the shutoff and it should stay with the key on and you can walk back around and start it

if you're going to do it like I have on my duramax. Miter cut, and the top of it sticks 2 inches above the bed, offset to the right. That's how they look good, in my opinion.

woolen ominvore not a Cummins they have alot of turbo lag and turbo failures are a problem. fond yourself a nice 6.0 05-07 that hasn't been chipped send it to bill hewit at powerstrome specialists have it bulletproofed and you'll be good for 500k miles the 6.4 powerstroke is a 150k throwaway engine and the 6.7 just costs too much still. not a fan of duramax they feel restricted. I personally love my Ford 6.0 but to each his own

I worked on many 6.0s I'd rather get a 7.3 if I get a ford a duramax my dad owns it's nice but they are so fucked to work on way to many stupid shit I like them but not to work on haha. I was kinda leaning to a 25v 02 Cummins I like 12v but I kinda wanna put a monitor in it like in the radio kinda thing have a touch screen radio as a monitor as well. or Bluetooth to my phone. it was mainly between 7.3 5.9 24v or a lbz 06.
LOUD 'N' PROUD 6.0 is a great engine if you buy an 05,06 or 07, got I million on my completely stock 05 and I pull 10k lbs almost daily. The reason 6.0s fail is they took away some head studs and didn't compensate making the existing stronger also the reason ppl give these a bad wrap is because they chip them from new drive them like shit and hot rod them around and have the engine go at 25kmiles show me a 12v that went 1 million without extreme oil consumption or turbo issues or having rings done at some point. my odo has read 999,999 for a little over a year only thing I have replaced was the h.p. oil pump as those were recalled for 05 don't knock the 6.0 because of jackwagons being dumb and wrecking their truck... also your Cummins will never match my torque or horsepower unless you put on 3 or 4 turbos.

Coach Burgener 12v are all mechanical. 24v are electronic therefore you can have a tuner. 12v tuner is a screwdriver and some sockets
