- A custom project that began eleven years ago, splicing the internals of an airsoft Maruzen M1100 to the externals of a Tokyo Marui SPAS-12, with a few donor parts from other manufacturers. HPA-powered, shell-ejecting, 9-BBs-per-shot, one of a kind.

Amazing work mate. Its remarkable that no manufacturer has made a modern SPAS. Its right up there with a decent mk2 Browning and a 6mm GBB Bren 10 on my wish list. Hopefully TM will eventually get round to inserting there modern mechanism and construction methods to give us the ultimate metal airsoft shotgun.
Always glorious to see old builds see some new life. Glad to see this one has been revived from the days of Hazardous Containment 4 at Penn Yan.

I had a Maruzen 870. And collecting the shells is absolutely as bad as people say! 😅
I found it extremely tiresome to sweep the site for shells after a single game.
Never again.
Performance was gash too, so that likely added to my aggravation.

I too have a Marui spas12 with a Maruzen m1100 internal, but my maruzen is the rare mag fed one without using shells though.
Back when I had a CAM870, I was one of those nerds who really worried about losing shells, especially when SMART shells are over $10 a pop. Shell catchers did the job though, and I still feel that retention outweighs the loss in aesthetics of having a bag hang off your gun.

As always it's a joy to see your work, really great bit of engineering. I've been playing with the idea of using a TM Spas as a body kit for a Jag Arms Scattergun since I only play in woodland and collecting spent shells after a match would be.... problematic.

So this is a pretty old reference, but honestly you remind me of RapidNadion, but for airsoft, you talk just like him, including talking about your group, you have the same cadence and almost the same voice. Its honestly really cool. You guys also modify and make cool stuff, just like Rapidnadion did. Overall its just a fun quirk I noticed and its really cool.
That's a nice build. I'm just surprised that no firm has made a good model of one that works. It's probably the most used in films etc. Keep up the great work.

I you were going to go for a true select fire system, easiest way might be to just integrate some form of gas cutoff when moving the pump from the semi auto position to the pump position

I literally did HECU larp with the m40 gas mask, luckily the outserts didn’t break, it held a lot of shots in airsoft

Reminds me of my M1014 conversion, which eventually just ended up in a trash can once the shell lifter snapped into 2.
For the swapping of fire modes i think the easiest option is to have two interlocking hooks on the action arms and the corresponding arms of the pump, and pressing the button pushes the pump arms upwards unlatching them. although i don't think it'd be a good idea to fire in "manual"
Just a heads up, that filter you have on that mask is a C2 filter, which is known to contain chromium in the filtering medium, now it isn't a huge concern, definitely overblown by a lot of people, but I'd recommend you get a C2A1 filter, the green bodied version of what you currently have.
Also, I'm not certain on the ballistic capacity of those tinted M40 outserts, I believe they're alright, but stay safe.
We sincerely appreciate the concern, but to be clear, the filter is a hollowed-out dummy fitted with a powered intake fan. The tinted M40 outserts are /not/ ballistic, though the lenses have been replaced with polycarbonate- regardless, we do not use or recommend the use of gas masks for airsoft. It's just a fun costume.
@@ExplosiveEnterprises Gotcha, that's good to hear, although I will disagree, airsofting in a gas mask is loads of fun with the right mask, the MCU is perfectly safe and I use it quite a bit, holding up pretty damn well.

As an owner of a Sheriff SPAS i can correct you to say its a PV or push valve system and affirm your build choices because the Sheriff is a very expensive flimsy turd
Incredible work as always. I've been dreaming of someone creating a (presumably HPA) RareArms SR25 based Gen12 that uses APS shells, alas that thing is entirely discontinued and very low production to begin with.

Im thinking about making the aps cam870 to semi auto. Not shooting semi auto you have to pull the charging handle back every shot but it would be cool, mill the frame with probably 7-8mm endmill and making a spring that pushed the pumps forward, ill post it on my yt channel if i ever do it

I was always thinking of doing something like this to my tm spas, but with cam 870 Internals.. But they are very expensive over here and I would be sad to destroy 2 perfectly good guns for it to maybe not even work right..

I wonder if you could take an APS CAM-87 and fit it with the Marui SPAS furniture for a good shell-ejecting pump-action SPAS-12, it's really a crime that there aren't any good options on the market
