Hey guys, what is the current best value drone for about 80 to 100 bucks? I've been away from this channel for some time now. A good drone with 2k recording capabilities? This one seems to have a crappy image.
SG906 Pro or Pro 2. Well it's a little over 100 dollar but not much. I really can't think of any other drone that has as good video for the same price.
hey man, just popped in to say hello and thanks for all the reviews and advice, i've moved on to more racey quads now but while making my end of year vid i stumbled across a syma x5c clip, made me think of your vids and antenna mods etc. i might include the syma clip, this year was my first mountain dive. thanks again. the hobby wouldnt exist without you and andy and bruce and seby.
Oh yeah I forgot to mention. The controller on mine can run through about 5 or 6 full batteries in the quad. Even though it's is small on mAh it lasts really decent amount of fly time
Hello sir , this review is where first heart of the L900 pro. I bought 2 of them . The first one arrived with the app manual that you have in the video. And I also use the h fun fly app although it doesn't connect on my phone so I use my roommates phone. Even though I do have the right wifi configuration. I will be getting a new phone this week either way. The second one arrived today and some things are different with this one. The controller is thicker and the fold out handles only open to 90 degrees of the controller. Also the app manual says to download drone rx . Do you know any thing about the different app. Actually I really like the way the drone RX app works with the drone better than h fun fly. It work also but not as good in my opinion. The controller is no big deal it works great and so do both drones. I have pushed the distance out to 1,100 meters and it returned flawlessly and super fast. The first time I couldn't see it come back and I thought ."oh no another fly away" lol but I thought I could hear it. I happened to look straight up and it was just beginning to descend. I got gray so it was harder to see. With the color and speed combination. Anyway if you have any idea why they recommend 2 different apps please let me know. Also I only got one battery. I ordered 2 spare batteries on eBay and got the 2 batteries for $15.99 plus tax with free shipping. I wanted to pass that along to others who only got one battery. One is not enough for sure. And I have never gotten 28 minutes but I usually fly at full speed. Which gives me about 16 minutes. Not bad at full speed and lots of manuevering. Thank you
Hey sir. Thanks for this video. I am really interested in purchasing this drone. However, you mentioned that one need to have a cellphone with 802.11ac capabilities. I have a Samsung J5 Prime that came out around September 2016. But the specs says that it has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n( Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot). So I really am not sure if my phone will be able to work with this drone? I don't want to buy the drone then have to upgrade my phone as well. Also can one fly the drone with only the remote only without a cellphone? Also another question. Does one have to every time calibrate the drone upon a fresh start-up? Or between changing batteries? I hope you will answer me. Thanks in advance.
Unfortunately your phone will not work with most WiFi drones these days. And you should redo the compass calibration each time that you fly in a new area, or notice instability of the drone in hover. I like to do it every time I change the battery to be safe.
@@Quadcopter101 ...thanks for your reply. Someone else that has the same drone says my phone will work with this drone. So it leaves me a bit confused with two different answers to this. Anyway, thanks for your response.
I own the black model, and for beginners i have a few notes; To fly the drone forward, the right stick must be turned forward if the drone goes sideways, land it and try agian and turn it in the direction its going sideways in then you can kinda turn and stuff.
this video was very helpful, i bought this drone as i discovered this video just as I was about to try using it ..very useful thank you sir you are a genius ..
Thank you for your answer I have another question please How far can i Go with the dron? How far can I see the images of the camera? Kindly regards from Austria
Hi. Can you please help me with the calibration? I've bought this L900 drone, but when I try to start calibrating it by pushing the left joystick button up and down, the green lights don't stop flashing! And as far as I know, they should stop flashing to do the following steps. Do you know what it could be? Thanks!
@@Quadcopter101 Thanks Quadcopter 101 I knew that however I was looking for a visual like you have in your vehicle/motorcycle showing the gear you are in. Thanks for the reply and subbed...OK
Thank you for your video about the L900 Pro. I bought it after watching your review. It is a fun drone to fly. Very stable for a small budget drone. I was wondering if I can set height and distance limitations with an app. HFUN Pro app doesn't have that feature. Can I use a different app that does incorporate those features when flying this drone?
Very nice video I have a problem with that drone..it doesn't find any satellite.. when GPS on, motors doesn't start up. When GPS off motors start up. But the drone is without GPS
You need to be outdoors in an open area, away from trees and building. Also make sure to conduct the compass calibration as shown in this video. Finally, you will need to wait until you are receiving at least 9 satellites before attempting to take off.
Yes. It first needs to discover that it is no longer in China. But future flights should acquire satellites much more quicker now that it knows where in the world it is at.
Hey quad 101. Another great video. I was wondering if you still used VSDC to put together your videos.. If yes, i was wondering if you could do a tut on how you splice, and line up your timeing's. e.i. both your phone screen and your drone video, to take off at the same time. I can't figure it out for anything. Thanks.
Notice when I do those sync up moves in the video. I use them as visual cues to line up the separate videos on the timelines so my voice matches my lip movement.
@@Quadcopter101 how about a tut video?? what version of VSDC are you using? I am using the latest. I am newbe at this. Only if you have some spare time sir.
hi Quadcopter 101 i bought one after watching your video but after 3 months flying, no more quadcopter, took it up the park yesterday morning. It was flying ok all the sudden when i pressed return home, it decided to elevate and elevate and elevate it went to 999m high on my control screen. I waited around hoping it might come down but it never did. It must have come down somewhere as the battery was almost flat. So sad as i just bought extra batteries for it. Don't know whether it was the remote control or the quadcopter to blame, even if I did get it back and I repaired it I wouldn't be going to fly it again because the electrics may do the same thing and I'll waste more money. Did something like that ever happen to you ? i like your videos especially when you are standing out in the cold, what dedication.
Good afternoon to you. May I ask you a questions. Each time when you use the drone. Do it need to synchronisation each time when you use it. I am new on this toy. It seen the GPS never able to get it signal. I had to off the GPS before it could fly. Thank you in advance.
Yes, you need to calibrate the compass as shown in the video. Also, make sure that you are outdoors in an open area. Being indoors, or near tall buildings or trees can block satellites signals to the GPS antenna.
Hello quadcopter, i want to give my dad a drone for his birthday. i watched youre vid do you recommend this one or a other one around this price point?
This is only available as a Mode 2 controller (left throttle stick). The Mode that's shown on the controller screen merely refers to the drone being in GPS or Optical Flow mode.
A friend of mine just ordered the L900. I want to build a decently fast 3S drone. Any suggestions for a receiver gyro ESC transponder combo would be much appreciated.
Thank you Quadcopter 101 . I just purchased one of these drones from eBay a week ago and currently waiting from the post from China And I have not been able to find any review videos and of course I'm subscribed to your channel and what do you know there's the review I'm looking for . Merry Christmas and thanks again
Hi Sir, it's a great review I have ever seen. I have also bought one L900 pro and it says the control distance is 1200 meter, but after 150 meter the video is lagging and completely freezed. Is there any way to make video transmission better (long distance video transmission without video lagging)? Can i use 5g wifi repeater? If yes could you please suggest me a good wifi range extender? Thanks 🙂

I used HFun Fly. But HFun Pro is suggested by the manufacturer. However, HFun Pro would freeze every time that I selected it to record video. HFun Fly did not, and seemed to work well with this drone.
Hi, I'm sorry for the stupid question, but how do you land the drone? I tried using the top left button but it doesn't look so well without good gps signal. All the other attempts of landing (like decreasing the throttle) didn't work out so well and most of the times the drone ended up in complicated situations. It's our first drone and the manual is not very good for beginners. Thanks.
The top left button is GPS return to home landing, and should only be used with good GPS reception. This does not have automatic takeoff or landing button. You will need to land it manually by lowering the throttle, and holding the throttle down until the motor stops. As such, select an open and flat takeoff landing location without obstacles.
@UCc0_zqxU74vfkUSUUnOB5wQ i had a preo drone before . And my dad just broke it ... after like 1 year he bought me this . Preo drone was so cheap btw i bought it for 30usd total.
Real time video from the drone can be viewed and recorded (1080p @25fps) on your phone via WiFi and the "HFun Fly" app (I used HFun Fly as HFun Pro would not record video with my phone).
Hey! Can't tell why my drone, when controlling one remote control or one smartphone, after 5-10 minutes of flight does not obey and flies chaotically in different directions and after a few seconds sits down, you can say it just crashes into the ground about 50-100 meters from me? Thank you?
@@Quadcopter101 That's right, everything is just like yours. Today I flew, but controlled and calibrated only with the remote control. Again he fell from the full swing of about 30-40 meters from me and did not obey at all. Maybe this is a hitch? What did one remote control? I didn't think about it. It always turned out that it would rise above 50 meters or move away, which is not visible and all the return does not work. I tried the same story with one smartphone. I just thought you could control either a remote control or a smartphone. Didn't you manage separately?

Hi, I know it's not your problem but I bought this drone on ebay for my husband. Your video was great but I now know that the seller did not send a complete manual with the software page with QR code to calibrate the app to the drone and camera. Could you tell me how to get that page that has the qr code since the seller is not answering me anymore. Like I said , it's not your problem but I need someone's help. I would pay to get that software Portion of the manual. Thank you, Lori T
The recommended QR code app Hfun Pro did not work properly with my drone. Instead I used the "HFun Fly" app available on Google Play here play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hy.five&hl=en_US&gl=US and on the Apple App Store here apps.apple.com/us/app/hfun-fly/id1526117749 For instruction son how to use it, watch the video.
Sir just a question. how do you achieve the non freezing video feed? because everytime i fly my drone the camera feed always freeze for a moment of time and then comes back
You need to stay close with the drone to avoid that from happening. This drone records to your phone via WiFi, instead of using an onboard memory card. If the WiFi reception becomes weak, the result will be frozen and lost video frames.
Hi mate, how did you get the drone to stabilise so well?, I just got one and it doesn't stabilise at all, it just goes all over the place, appreciate your time, thanks
Did you calibrate the drone's compass as shown in the video? Also, make sure that the GPS is not turned off (also as discussed in the video). Finally, I recommend that you do not take off until you are receiving at least 9 satellites for GPS positioning to work. I usually wait until 11 satellites are being received for best position stabilization (in the video I was receiving 16)..
On its maiden voyage, I managed to shatter one propller.... damn this thing is not very stable in even slight wind at all and was doing a roof inspection yet the gust sent it straight to the gut and shattered rear left propeller.... had to get a ladder to retrieve it too
@@MrPolymers LOL Good point. I sure don't expect them all to be a DJI, but even my $100 Snaptain SP650 has an SD slot and very acceptable video. Quadcopter 101, you keep doing what you're doing!
@@mdabusiyam I have the Tello. I researched the L900, but I don't actually own one. If you want a toy that you can fly indoors as well as outdoors, and you don't mind VERY limited range, then the Tello is ok. If you want something a bit more serious with much better range, but flies outdoors only, the L900 looks adequate.
You mean the L09 Pro? Well it is a better drone than the L900 for sure. 2-axis gimbal. Pretty decent video. 330 gram so not too big and heavy. But the camera does not completely tilt down. It's say 10 degrees short. So I'm not sure that is what you want? I can imagine it is better to have a camera tilted completely down to avoid reflections. My L108(SG108) camera will tilt down to the surface. Nice little drone to put in your pocket. Video isn't really sharp. But less jello than the L900. Not sure the camera is stable enough in the wind. Does the camera of the SG906 Pro or Pro2 point all the way down? That's the drone I would recommend for the price and video quality. Heavier drone with gimbal might do better over water when there is wind.
Make sure that you're outside in an open area with a clear view of the sky. The first lockon may take up to 15 minutes for it to discover that it's no longer in China. But follow on lockons should be much quicker (about a minute).
Love the orange color. I always want a orange one but their like 1,500 or more. They do charge more for orange! Thinking about picking up the 3 battery package so I have more drones to trip over. : } Do not expect to buy more battery's for this, that will be a DYI for you in two years or less. I am impressed with its performance compared to my lower end GPS hubsan drones. I suggest searching for a old SOLO 3DR drone that's new or refurbished but that's $200 more and you will need to buy a camera. Hubsan has the sd card slot on most of them. The video is poor to fair, that maybe a disappointment. I do want a orange drone, Hum.... Yes or No? PS:
Not much other than different camera mounts and apps. The L700 seemed to have better video, with less jello than the L900. However, the L700's app was a bit buggy, with circle me and waypoints not working properly. The L900's app seemed to work fine with no problems noted.

That's called toilet-bowl. Try do the compass calibration a bit higher (1.5 mtr) and away from your phone. Sometimes it is just the location. See what it does at a different spot. Also do gyro calibration.

Use Google Maps. Find your takeoff location on Google Maps satellite view. Then draw a 200 meter line in the general direction that you last saw it. Note that position on the map, and go out and physically search that area. I've found many a lost drone using this method.
Real time video from the drone can be viewed and recorded (1080p @25fps) on your phone via WiFi and the "HFun Pro" or "HFun Fly" apps (I used HFun Fly as HFun Pro would not record video with my phone).
Hi Friend, i tried to calibrate using the manual calibration but at the end the green light still flashing and the rear red is steady. I tried using the apps, its the same, what seems to be the issue?
If you haven't figured it out yet. You have to leave it sitting after compass calibration while it looks for satellites. Once the connection is made all light go solid and it beeps. I had the same issue sometimes just figured it out a couple weeks ago.
Hmmm, this has yellow lights. But a slow flashing light usually means that it is searching for satellite signals. You need a minimum of 9 received satellites. How many were you receiving with the flashing light? If zero or less than 9, make sure that you are outdoors in an open area with a clear view of the sky. Being indoors or near buildings or trees can block the satellite signals.
There are, and I've tested them here on the channel. But they didn't seem to provide much improvement. None of them have a built-in amplifier like the 2.4Ghz Mi repeater. Here's one of those tests ua-cam.com/video/z2P_PCQwk9Q/v-deo.html
No, the video from this drone is not very good. However, the drone itself is a good flier, with a good and accurate GPS system. It's a good drone to learn to fly with, before purchasing an expensive drone. All beginner pilots crash, it's unavoidable. That's why it is best to first learn to fly with an inexpensive drone.
Although the camera's not the best, this is a good safe drone for beginner fliers with a dependable GPS (remember to do the compass calibration). *Find it here* bit.ly/L900-Drone

hey man, just popped in to say hello and thanks for all the reviews and advice, i've moved on to more racey quads now but while making my end of year vid i stumbled across a syma x5c clip, made me think of your vids and antenna mods etc. i might include the syma clip, this year was my first mountain dive. thanks again. the hobby wouldnt exist without you and andy and bruce and seby.
Omg syma x5/8s taught me to fly like ten years ago
Oh yeah I forgot to mention. The controller on mine can run through about 5 or 6 full batteries in the quad. Even though it's is small on mAh it lasts really decent amount of fly time
Thanks for the useful video Quadcopter 101. I do have a question concerning the app on the phone. Which one is used or recommended?
Welke app?
I own the black model, and for beginners i have a few notes;
To fly the drone forward, the right stick must be turned forward if the drone goes sideways, land it and try agian and turn it in the direction its going sideways in then you can kinda turn and stuff.

I have another question please
How far can i Go with the dron?
How far can I see the images of the camera?
Kindly regards from Austria
I'd guess about a couple hundred meters.
Hi. Can you please help me with the calibration? I've bought this L900 drone, but when I try to start calibrating it by pushing the left joystick button up and down, the green lights don't stop flashing! And as far as I know, they should stop flashing to do the following steps. Do you know what it could be? Thanks!
Try using the app. See the above video starting at 15:10
Sir. .how about altitude this drone can fly ?
Hey Quadcopter 101. Question?
How do you know from the app which speed the drone is set to? Is there any representation on the app showing such?
The horizontal speed of the drone is the "H" number shown in the top portion of the app's screen.

You need to be outdoors in an open area, away from trees and building. Also make sure to conduct the compass calibration as shown in this video. Finally, you will need to wait until you are receiving at least 9 satellites before attempting to take off.

Hey quad 101. Another great video. I was wondering if you still used VSDC to put together your videos.. hi Quadcopter 101 i bought one after watching your video but after 3 months flying, no more quadcopter, took it up the park yesterday morning.
So sorry i know how it feels to loose a drone
is the quality of the drone body of sg907 pro better than this one? As this L900 has cheap plastic which is easily broken?
Hi from Austria. very good video, thank you. How is the name of the app you are using?
I used the "HFun Fly" app.

Yes, at its price point and with its capabilities, this makes a good beginners first drone.

This is only available as a Mode 2 controller (left throttle stick). The Mode that's shown on the controller screen merely refers to the drone being in GPS or Optical Flow mode.

@@Quadcopter101 thank you sir just bought one as my beginners drone

Hey! Can't tell why my drone, when controlling one remote control or one smartphone, after 5-10 minutes of flight does not obey and flies chaotically in different directions and after a few seconds sits down, you can say it just crashes into the ground about 50-100 meters from me? Thank you?
Did you complete the compass calibration as shown in the video?
@@Quadcopter101 That's right, everything is just like yours. Today I flew, but controlled and calibrated only with the remote control. Again he fell from the full swing of about 30-40 meters from me and did not obey at all. Maybe this is a hitch? What did one remote control? I didn't think about it. It always turned out that it would rise above 50 meters or move away, which is not visible and all the return does not work. I tried the same story with one smartphone. I just thought you could control either a remote control or a smartphone. Didn't you manage separately?

Hey did you move from Trona? I worked for Kerr McGee {West End} back in the late 70's.
Yep, moved to Erie Pennsylvania from Ridgecrest.

@@mdabusiyam I have the Tello. I researched the L900, but I don't actually own one. If you want a toy that you can fly indoors as well as outdoors, and you don't mind VERY limited range, then the Tello is ok. If you want something a bit more serious with much better range, but flies outdoors only, the L900 looks adequate.
does this have phone control feature like flying without remote?
Hi, i love watching you chanell. Would you recommend this for drone fishing or the L109? I want to throw some small bait out on a beach.

When I calibration the drone, the green light keep flashing, is that mean not able to search GPS signal?
Hmmm, this has yellow lights. But a slow flashing light usually means that it is searching for satellite signals. You need a minimum of 9 received satellites. How many were you receiving with the flashing light? If zero or less than 9, make sure that you are outdoors in an open area with a clear view of the sky. Being indoors or near buildings or trees can block the satellite signals.
