I like to imagine Guilliman seeing tyranids for the first time like, "THIS is what you guys have been dealing with?" Your custom Trygon is absolutely tremendous, Matthew. Passion is the best part of this hobby.
This game showcases why I always prefer Matt's bat reps. Sums it up perfectly in the endgame. Always play for fun not just to win, we've all made stupid decisions in game for fun narrative reasons
Or at least the days of "Oh, we don't sell this anymore? No rules for them then." :( Or even "This doesn't sell so well anymore? Okay. No models for them and then no rules for them."
Awesome battle, just wish we had an onscreen scoreboard so that we can keep track of the CP used during the game and VP and the end of each battle round.
This was a fun BatRep using models we don't see very often, and I am 100% happy not to see an Apothecary with a Warlord trait in a Marine army! :D Loved Matt affectionately giving his models familial roles as well.
I really enjoyed this one, the lists were really fun and there were lots of cool moments on both sides. I was hoping you wouldn't call it though, I wanted to see the end game blood bath play out even if the points were obvious.
Nids are fairly good in comp, he just doesn't play good lists. A lot of the codex is trash, but hive guard, dimachearons, locators, hierodules etc all are great models for various purposes.
Really loving Scratchy Buildo the Trygon. Just put the first paints on scratch-built Curseling. ... And also the "fine"cast Vilitch. Scratch-building is where it's at. playing 50/50 is fine as long as someone doesn't throw it away on purpose. That wouldn't feel right either but of course especially if you play with the same people often you kinda want everyone to have fun
Great battle report! Still caught a little by Luka saying great synergy with ultra marines, seems to me they just get rerolls whenever and wherever you need :(
I would love to see a pure shooting match between Necrons, Orks, and whichever of the marines are the top shooters. I feel like the firepower is amazing of the marines.
I love all your content guys would love to see some eldar being played =D last one I could find was 7 months ago =D keep up the good work love you all from Portugal
How was that captain at 36:00 even close to being in LOS for those Termies? From what we saw on the camera there's not a CHANCE they'd have been able to see him to shoot at him
Question for you Matt: Why not just hide the Raveners behind a building in deployment? They've got that 12" move, surly they could have got to something in CC still on the first turn.
Not winning ever was me for the entirety of 8th. And I've gotta say that I'm not too upset that I haven't been able to play for most of 9th. Incidentally, I got stomped on my first two games when 9th can't out too. Really does start to put you off the game.
Hey, i always wondered, how LONG is a turn in Warhammer 40k? Like- in DnD, a round is six seconds in canon, is their an equivalent in 40k? I watched a battle report with you guys a while ago where it was the Guard(i think- maybe Necrons?) vs the Blood Ravens, i i distinctly remember Gabriel Angelos moving around the battle in a way that made it feel like, in real time it might only take a few seconds. First he would lead his troops into battle- but then he sees a transport, and moves to intercept, one hit with Godspliter and the transport is down, and then he demolishes the crew inside. And then bam, battle report over. running through my head i could imagine that engagement lasting- maybe less than a minute- and it would have been a rad as hell minute. Is there any ruling on this sort of thing?
@@tyranitorn8632 Oh sorry- no, i mean, like- in the narrative of the thing, like- in DnD, a round is cannonically six seconds, so, a character can attack, and move so far, and so on, in six seconds, so despite it taking an hour for your players to figure out what that want to do, in the narrative of the thing, all of that happened in six seconds. So does 40k have something like that, like- in some battle reports it's just two forces running at one another and hacking each other to bits, which in real life might only take about a minute. So if that was four rounds of play, might a round be canonically less than a minute?
The whole game would need to be massively altered to get it to where a turn is considered taking place within a set timeframe akin to DND's 6 second rounds. For example a Ravenwing force moving and unloading it's guns on turn 1 would probably be over in like 5 seconds from a real world perspective, while if they were facing an imperial guard force the IG would take much much longer to do the same in reply. It makes absolutely no sense in real world timeframes as the Ravenwing force would basically need to rush in, shoot and then collectively have a stroke for like 30 seconds allowing the IG fight back.
That's why I have a Deathwing, Ravenwing list and a Blood Angels list that is sudo competitive and fun to play, not saying my Deathwing, Ravenwing isn't fun to play.
If you look at the exchanges, Dread wipes out ravegers. Then the trygons kill the Dread and the Librarian and then the attack bike basically kills the trygons. In terms of points I have no idea if that is a good exchange. And the game would have been completely different if the tervigons had used smite on Primarch early on.
Points wise it's a terrible exchange for the nids. Like, three or four to one value in favor of the Ultramarines. Trygons are stupid expensive, and so are raveners.
Playing nids against 2+ saves all over the board is super annoying. This is why I always bring mortal wound nids and the exocrine and tyrannofex. Then you just need to keep them safe and still.

I appreciate this
Really awesome to hear Matt talk about the Trygon conversion he did!
Yeah, i Love to hear about the passion that went into that model!
Matt hates hobbying, but he's actually decent at it and sells himself short.
@@Groovybadger yeah, I am a sucker for a good kit bash.
Right I was thinking the same thing
I thought that was pretty awesome as well. Reminds me of my 2 custom made tervigons which I created before GW released the model.
I smile every time Matt plays Tyranids, I used to watch Beat Matt Batreps back in 2013-14 and he is my inspiration to build & play tyranids.
God i used to love those. Rediscovering the hobby + this channel after so long has been so nostalgic
I like to imagine Guilliman seeing tyranids for the first time like, "THIS is what you guys have been dealing with?"
Your custom Trygon is absolutely tremendous, Matthew. Passion is the best part of this hobby.
Followed by the major regret of forcing chapters into a limited number of marines.
OH DAMN, that selfbuilt Trygon is impressive.
I'm not gonna lie, I have a hard time distinguishing Luka and Matt's voices all the time xD
Love the ultramarines vs Tyranid classic matchup
Holy shit that Trygon is legendary. That CD as the base I was not expecting.
This game showcases why I always prefer Matt's bat reps. Sums it up perfectly in the endgame. Always play for fun not just to win, we've all made stupid decisions in game for fun narrative reasons
So many Firstborn Marines, it makes me happy to see.
I know right, the firstborn just have more heart to them than the primaris.
Part of me misses the days of here's some rules with no model. Go ham.
Or at least the days of "Oh, we don't sell this anymore? No rules for them then." :(
Or even "This doesn't sell so well anymore? Okay. No models for them and then no rules for them."
Awesome battle, just wish we had an onscreen scoreboard so that we can keep track of the CP used during the game and VP and the end of each battle round.
"I'm really proud of the Trygon!"
Nobody tell him about the dewclaw that's fallen off.
6:45 I really like that you made that yourself, Matt. Respect.
This was a fun BatRep using models we don't see very often, and I am 100% happy not to see an Apothecary with a Warlord trait in a Marine army! :D Loved Matt affectionately giving his models familial roles as well.
Recreation of Mcragge! Can't wait to see the result.
I really enjoyed this one, the lists were really fun and there were lots of cool moments on both sides. I was hoping you wouldn't call it though, I wanted to see the end game blood bath play out even if the points were obvious.
First born marines are incredibly under rated. Tactical squads are very flexible 😁
I feel like I'm about to see Tyranids step on a rake.
Awesome First Borns!!! And that kit bashed trygon is great!
As classic as it gets. Red bugs vs blue space boys
I love watching you guys play these fun games. This one was a real treat, thanks for all your hard work.
i Love the Tyranids Games!!! and the vault match looks so good, that i finaly have to sign up :) thank you guys for doing all this!
We all know, that Ultramarines will use Tyranids like ingredient for VELIKIY SUP!
That Trygon is great. Amazing ingenuity Matthew.
This has to be my favorite battle report the termagants and tervigon is now something I want
This must be one of the coolest terrain settings that I have ever seen!
Blue Space Marines? What will GW think of next?
Pink Space Marines
Im just waiting for Tyranids, Tau and Eldar to get their new models/books so we can see them get a little better. They are still fun though
I haven't played 40k since 5th but I remember coming down to the old store on east main in Welland to play and hang out. Glad to see MWG still lives!
Blueberries for the Brood, biomass for the Hive fleet..........
Or Ultra's will smash, shoot, slash, burn everything that moves!
Matt doing the Slither Slither was the highlight of the game. Keep up the good work guys.
Matthew is always such a good sport bringing out the Tyranids to get smashed reliably.
Nids are fairly good in comp, he just doesn't play good lists. A lot of the codex is trash, but hive guard, dimachearons, locators, hierodules etc all are great models for various purposes.
Great stuff MWG! Matthew's tyranids have inspired me to start my 2nd army, a custom Tyranid hive fleet! Sad wallet noises. Happy geek noises.
I think your improvised mini is bad ass, malware disc and all!
Murf the Smurf is back! Glorious.
Imagine if each one of those gaunts death shrieked, I would of geeked out twice as hard.
I love that home brew Trygon. The slithering was a nice touch. Felt bad for the Ravener I was painting while watching this XD.
Really loving Scratchy Buildo the Trygon. Just put the first paints on scratch-built Curseling. ... And also the "fine"cast Vilitch.
Scratch-building is where it's at. The whole hobby started from it! Too bad GW isn't that enthusiastic about it anymore... Guess when anything grows old, it tends to get more "serious"...
upvote for custom made tyranid model. That thing is beautiful
Great Battle Report. The homemade Trygon is honestly incredible.
P.S. 2+ saves are so annoying.
Homemade trygon FTW! Great batrep guys in a classic RvB matchup.
I swear Matt never remembers his Shadow in the Warp debuff. Oh well, this was a fun bat rep regardless!
Not super familiar with the more detailed specifics of warhammer lore or tabletop meta (Don't play it myself, but love to watch gameplay), but Guilliman seems like a pretty decent warlord with that HAND OF DOMINION and the reroll on ones to hit for nearby troops (helped the TACs squeeze out every last drop of damage on those bolters). Again, don't know the specifics of other warlords so there may be others that are way better idk, but he seemed to pull his weight in this fight. If nothing else, a very fun warlord to trounce around the map and club nids with:))
Fun game and a fun Nids list. Unfortunately, Termagants v. Boltguns and Chainswords rarely ends well for Nids.
playing 50/50 is fine as long as someone doesn't throw it away on purpose. That wouldn't feel right either but of course especially if you play with the same people often you kinda want everyone to have fun
Playing units that are fun is way more exciting than meta chasing this was an awesome bat rep!
That Dreadnaught was like: "From First Company with Vengeance..."
Great battle report! Still caught a little by Luka saying great synergy with ultra marines, seems to me they just get rerolls whenever and wherever you need :(
I really like this camera style. It makes me feel like I am playing the game.
Had no idea that was a conversion, I'm (obviously) not a long time tabletop player but that's still awesome.
Hand of Dominion... haha. That brings back memories from the Deffwatch campaign. Great Times
The custom trygon looks better than the actual trygon model
Matt did awesome on that trygon! That's so cool!
I do like the idea of command points for re rolls and special orders, haven't played since 8th
That trigon is actaully the best thing ever
I would love to see a pure shooting match between Necrons, Orks, and whichever of the marines are the top shooters. I feel like the firepower is amazing of the marines.
I love all your content guys would love to see some eldar being played =D last one I could find was 7 months ago =D keep up the good work love you all from Portugal
My mission narrative: the ultramarines were investigating a sos signal from one of their facilities when they got ambushed by bugs
These lists took me back to 6th Edition days haha real retro feel
This is Ultrasmurfs vs Nids. Where are the Tyranic War Veterans man lol
How was that captain at 36:00 even close to being in LOS for those Termies?
From what we saw on the camera there's not a CHANCE they'd have been able to see him to shoot at him

Guilliman leads Tyrannic War Veterans into battle!
Honestly, that kitbashed trygon looks way better than the actual one
That Guillman paint job is amazing!!!
Not winning ever was me for the entirety of 8th.
And I've gotta say that I'm not too upset that I haven't been able to play for most of 9th.

How did Matt get +1 to wound on the termagants??? Their my favorite unit, but I had no clue that could be done. NEED TO KNOW!
Entertaining as usual, thank you guys. 👍
I like your smash captains helmet. its rare and impractical but looks nice.
This was a really fun battle rep to watch.

I feel like I never see a biovore being used? Is there a reason for this?
That Trygon looks sick!
Wait, aren't your options for play: Killteam; 500p; 1.000p; 2.000p? Is 1.500p something unofficial? I'm still learning to play so any info is welcome.
Finally, an Open Moar Wishin'!
Awesome batrep!
If Matthew had tried to win that one instead of purposely losing, he would have easily. That was a terrible matchup for the ultramarines
Im just yelling "USE THE FLESHBORE STRATAGEM YOU GET +1 TO WOUND"
Did not even notice the trygon was converted.
Just a idea but im sure your skill has improved even more... ;)
I ❤️ your battle reports!!!!
This one was great, very entertaining!
At the very least the Tyranids killed Guilliman! That's always a good accomplishment.
that trygon is soo cool well done
Cool kit Bash Matt!
