The only ones levelling up are the CEOs of big businesses who pay minimum wage to workers and get huge bonuses themselves whilst their staff suffer for it.
don’t worry, be happy.
So true
Fat cat boss of private mental health firm receives £445,000 pay rise despite hospitals failing autistic patients
Indeed. This mutant strain of Tory is more devious, hypocritical and nastier than it's predecessors - but just as greedy and self-serving.
Isn't it better to have jobs rather than be jobless. In Capitalism, created by the UK, the CEO is people who have created jobs. Unless there are jobs at minimum wages which is much higher than China, the UK is not competitive.. China have low wages for the past 30 years. Whereas the UK is declining and the country will be bankrupt.
Sick of hearing them debating this that and the next thing. Talk is CHEAP. The cost of living isn't. 😠😠😠

"The cost of living is effecting everyone" it doesn't effect the well off!
And doesn't harm the ultra frugal types, after all, they're used to doing without.
@@ep1929 That's a very unkind thing to say. Just because some people are careful, it doesn't follow that they don't suffer!

Reassuring but not comforting. The struggle is going to hit real hard this winter.
Raise the minimum wage. Remove the personal tax allowance freeze for low income families. For all charities, donate 10% of their stock to “poverty charities for clothing , toys , bedding , and household items etc. The amount of waste going to landfill is shocking. Globally, politicians of all nations need to grow up.
I have worked for 44 years paid taxes insurance. Now I have some serious health problems the government are making it so hard for me to get help . I feel like a crimmal asking or begging for help. They ask the most ridiculous questions then base it on points. Everyone's pain is different. I am so fed up sometimes that I would rather go to bed and not wake up.
So sad u feel like that but stay strong
Tori answer is give billions of taxpayers money to energy companies who are not struggling
Smart meters , what a waste of money!!!! Poor families know exactly what their energy usage is. There, just saved millions.
In France they had a windfall tax on their main Energy company EDF which meant that instead of there heating bills going up over 50% it only went up 4%. It seems to me that the richest in society will have to be windfall taxed as well, they can afford it the poor can't
It all goes onto the national debt of France
I work for a local council and we got a 1.75% pay rise this year when inflation is almost 8% now as of writing this message. It’s a joke every year inflation is going up considerably more than wages something’s gotta give eventually
Somethings already giving way my fuckin wallet,
The bigger picture is less money in the public’s pockets to spend on “luxuries”. This means people will likely cut down in any leisure/social outgoings. Less money to go out to the pub or for a meal this in turn will result in hospitality getting another massive blow. Less money to buy the non essentials that are often looked at as pure frivolous and fun. Again lots of small quirky artisan hipster shops will be forced to cease trading. This isn’t just the immediate impact on our cost of living and lifestyles that’s the biggest concern of mine. This without doubt means that the future in regards to employment and health will be very bleak. Lots of people will become jobless and perhaps others may lose their homes.
Yes v valid point !!And maybe the government will be hit because the three main source of gov income -
income tax ,VAT ,national insurance will lower their resilience too but I’m sure greedy MPs won’t take a pay cut or lose one house or 2 !!!
We need to stop the flow of people when we can't even house Veterans! Los Angeles has a 150,000 homeless!

This cost of living crisis doesn't have to exist at all. A greater investment in green energy sources would make a tremendous impact on household energy costs to say the least. Our dependency upon fossil fuels is very beneficial to certain corporations, and the plight of the average person doesn't count quite as much.
Switching from the use of fossil fuel to green alternatives owned and provided by the same big corporations? Green Capitalism won’t solve any of this.
they did that it failed miserably
Need to re nationalise gas, electric & water.
Stop these CEOs creaming money off which could be used to lower bills.
Yes increases green energy and bringing manufacturing back into the UK is essential. However, "Cost" of living is relative. We need to focus on inflation and why this happens how to either stop by coming off Fiat monopoloy money or hedge against it. If we do not the "prices" which are relative will keep going up.
How many times have we seen this economic mess before, right people!
No but the UK can afford to posture in Ukraine. How?
thats costing the taxpayer millions of £s...
leave Ukraine alone, stop sabre rattling, and stop expanding NATO right up to the russian borders.
Instead, give that money to homeless people and fix that issue.

I agree that young Millennials have more costs. We have elderly seniors that are homeless now! It's harder for seniors to work longer hours!
She's right that lady it is like working for them what worries me this government is not taking it seriously suicide? How many people could end up committing suicide due to struggling? We have seen it when they cut people's disability living allowance now we will see it across the board it's scary the people making these decisions have money and are not worrying like most people are
The answer to all these problems are? Kick them all out of office and see how things change for the better.
How do small businesses get around NI tax increases? Reduce workers hourly rates to less than 15 hours a week. That way no NI is paid at all.
Big businesses such as supermarkets do this already and that's part of the problem.
Switch to LED light bulbs. That saves money.
also, stop all military spending, all Artificial inteligence spending and funding, stop all quantum computing grants, legalise cannabis, make bio gas from manure and NPK. increase corporation tax on large corporations, stop brexit, invest in silver, reduce import tax by 50%, don't increase National insurance, reduce energy costs by producing energy in different ways,
Obviously NOT since the utility companies take most of your earnings even though they're owned by German and French who get free electric.
Ironic that we pay their winter heating bills ha ha.
Nice one Borrie
I heard that the Eastern Europeans get our national insurance
Energy companies aren’t making money? What planet is he on?
So why does he work in Energy if he makes no money?
Energy companies which buy energy from the energy producing companies... are making a loss. thats why companies are collapsing.
The energy companies who turn oil and gas and wind into electricity... those companies have seen massive profits and it is those producing companies whgich Labour keeps talking about a windfall tax for.
which, by the way... is the bare minimum we should be doing if not full public ownership of an energy producing company.
Drugs
I don't know what a Labour government would do differently unless they pledged to renationise electric and gas and bring it all under state ownership and ran it as a not for profit thing.
that simply doesnt work when energy still relies on oil and gas and rare earth minerals.
There policy includes a windfall tax on Energy companies.
Yes thats what I was thinking why can’t they have more Jurisdiction over it the utilities the Gov And any profit go into green power
Tell me what is the point in talking to people that have stupid amounts of money. They don't hurt.
In times like this, spare a thought for Africa and the dire situation they are facing with the cost of living crisis. Most of them dont even have access to electricity or water and are forced to alternate carbon sauces for cooking and lighting.
I left England 30 years ago.i knew what was coming..every year the cost of living goes up from 1980 to 2022
blame our useless governments.. and blame yourself for not taking action
Look at the UK today a Basket case
Other countries are experiencing similar increases.
Thinking of getting out myself, any recommendations? Just needs to have competent governance and no right wing politics.
Local councils need to set up buisnesses, all the profits would go to the councils to help the local areas, the governemt could od this as well, set up loads of companies, generate a lot of net profit and put it back into the ecconomy, set up the companies purley just to fund the economy, there is no CEO or founder to pay as the CEO is the government of the local council, they get a waige, so all profits can help fund the local people in each area, I know new ways to make energy that are much cheeper
I personally think its a wrong time to be self employed or small business
This society has a lot of traction and resilient, I can tell just by the way they clap in unison to fare loyal honor propositions.
No offense and I respect the Queen and all, but imagine how great it would be if they caboshed the Jubilee idea and the money wasted on that and put it in the hands of the British people who need it most.
Honestly the money could be put to better use.
We dont have open market on energy here in US. We have cartels. And our energy is VERY expensive.
Eating or heating I'd rather stockpile now
🎯
Why council houses not use wind turbines or solar panels but relying on fossil fuel if green life supporters business so keen to profit ?
All the money is going to shareholders & corporations!!!!
I'm amazed how they do this 👎👎 whenever minister talks 😀

Good evening all pleasant viewing from Washington gardens Kingston Jamaica this stories sounds like what happening to some families who living here in Jamaica challenges and able body people feeling it here government is not the problem this thing gets worse with the covid pandemic and restrictions We need an emergency package urgently.

Wake up the people
In this modern society and age, the devastating issues and problems are worldwide! It's time to have a worldwide agreement on reducing the multimillions and multibillions that about 5 - 10% of the population worldwide are sitting on. Some redistribution of wealth is long overdue.this isn't the middle ages.
Prices are going up Think about low income families
Targeting funding is a bad idea as also some areas don’t have support workers for those adults with special needs and plus if do have a support workers to help some might be costly and cause budgeting even worse
The government still get their pay rise. I remember Boris moaning he wasn't getting enough pay as prime minister 🙄
There are alot of articles on how to save money at the minute but the people at the bottom were already doing these things. There is nothing left to cut back on, what are they meant to do.

Hello, the name's Brexit-Fogg. There is no cost of living crisis. One just gave oneself an interest free loan of £6million from one's Cayman Islands company and my chum Cox earned a cool mill, working with a tax haven to help deprive the UK treasury of much needed revenue.
This is how Brexitories are helping the downtrodden of Stoke and Sunderland.

We could Never have a conversation like this in "The Home of The Free".. very sad... 🙏💪✌️
A NATIONAL DISGRACE
Start a minimum amount of weekly money to everyone such as a £200 weekly threshold (but need to put a price cap on the basics too or it will just push basic food prices up).
I can't afford cost of living but then somehow will, rebudget etc. It is all wrong but then would a government change actually improve things or would a new government just blame the (then) last government and con us all elsewhere. Maybe leave the current lot in with a new leader to then better negotiate and plan the future - it is a long haul break/fix and not a quick road whichever way it goes on who leads on it.
That woman was right about green agenda. This is the reason we are in this. There is plenty of coal and gas and nuclear. This is self inflicted.

How long are we willing to allow sociopaths running our lives?
They don’t half Overcomplicate things !!!!,they all sound plausible reasons and well articulated, but its 2 main factors-Greed and waste..So much food is wasted, tax is wasted on nonsense..If the country looked after the people the people would look after the country surely? And if people have Disposable incomes they will buy commodities go on holidays contribute to the economy etc.I’m not sitting In judgement on the wealthy but some do get there by exploiting the workforces, and evading tax etc..Always maximising profits-
HOW COME Alot of these big energy companies are from overseas etc like EDF.We should be catering for our nation-. utilities gas electric water ,why is it not under Government jurisdiction, & control ,the water companies are out for maximum profit to , shareholders cashing in,Its obscene!!Greed again and the community of mankind Need to come together it’s a case of -‘not my problem ‘but maybe we’re all a little guilty of it ?me included..
As long aa Greed Is stronger than compassion there will always be suffering!!
🙄
how is the queen going to pay the gas bill without phillip there
The government doesn't control inflation, the best thing in the short term is a larger hike in interest rates because there's too much money in the economy with productivity being lower due to furlough. To blame the government for inflation, supply chain issues and the global prices of energy shows the serious lack of financial education in this country.
Yes your right!! but They haven’t protected our own autonomy we should be independent mostly ,okay it’s difficult with food but lot of waste & greed Exacerbates poverty issues
Printing billions for covid was the problem.
Very simple solution...
Work Cash in hand
Use red diesel
And the final one which is most important.
WORK CASH IN HAND.
That used to be possible... it is now illegal for both parties, employer and employee.
@@Anon-xd3cf Just because it's illegal people still do it. Both employers and employees. Just like it's illegal to grow and sell certain plants, people still do it.
If they get rid of cash and we just have digital money then working cash in hand will not be possible. Bartering could work though.
Grow your own food. Stock up on tinned foods. Throw away the TV and PS. Social media in the bin. Work cash in hand and yes red diesel and stop paying the council tax

What is a pense? Per google, a pound = $1.35 (US), but I hear the term pense a lot, is that like .25 or .50 or .75 cents or something different?
A Pense is a another term for a 1p coin. 100 of them is equal to £1
So it’s kind of line an American ‘penny’?
Pence is the British equivalent to the American Cence.
100 cence = $1

I'm going to change my life around so I hardly need money.
10% of people haven't paid their mortgage since 2008. Discuss!
What is universal insurance? And bedroom tax?
The bedroom tax refers to people who live in socialized housing who were forced to pay a fine if they had more bedrooms than they needed. The trouble being, there were not any smaller properties available for them to move to, so it was just a tax on the poorest people.
I'm not sure what universal insurance is. Universal Credit is the name of a deliberately badly managed benefits payment.
National insurance is a tax British people pay. It's supposed to go towards the NHS, but it isn't that simple.
