    Everyone..if you can, you need to grow your food. Even if its in pots. My neighbor, who has gardened for years as a hobby, isnt feeling the food prices as much. Her backyard is a full veggie garden. She goes out for meats, flours, and rice. I now realize how wise this decision was. Trying to catch up to her now👀.

      The problem seemed to be " @ food distribution " in the global food system , more than enough food is produced , but the distribution system focuses on the " haves" big corporations , the divide between rich and poor , poor do not have enough income to buy , wastages of food , bref , current system will make millions go to bed hungry , if everyone of say grows backyard then an allready troubled ressource " water " risks to be depleted.

      This is not true market inflation. Corporations are taking advantage of the laws of supply and demand to extract wealth. They are making record profits. You do realize that corporate greed is the driving force of inflation, yes? You also realize that it was infinitely necessary to subsidize people during the pandemic to keep them solvent. We actually didn't subsidize them enough, and for long enough, which allowed the pandemic to continue ravaging communities. Also, the fact that many corporations were so busy chasing the dollar that they minimized costs at the sake of stability, so they only had just-in-time supply chains...and we see how that has worked out. Chasing the dollar is the main cause of everything that is happening now.

  • @BoggWeasel

    How about, instead of feeding as much profit as possible into Wall Street and other stock markets, feed them back into the economy at ground level via wages ? The past 20 years have seen stagnant wages and ever increasing and record breaking profits on an unregulated stock market. The money is there for everybody, only it's now in the hands of relatively few. If it wasn't for easy access credit and mortgages, workers and consumers would have been feeling this a lot sooner. The real economy that affects our daily lives has been unbalanced for too long, now we pay the price.

    • @BoggWeasel
      @BoggWeasel 2 роки тому +14

      @Meme Memeson True capitalism re invests in the workers via wages so they can be active consumers of the products they make. What is happening today isn't capitalism, it's unfettered greed, pure and simple. Workers/Consumers have been given easy credit instead of monetary compensation for too long resulting in the lack of liquidity at the base level of the economy. Consumers have no real money and the Banks are doing very well thank you very much. Profit is good, too much profit ? The system breaks down.

      @Meme Memeson great point. I think the issue is that most "capitalists" focus on making money short term and worry about the long-term later. Also....capitalism is simply the natural way people do business. If I make a product and someone else makes a similar one, but mine is cheaper and slightly better, mine will simply out sell the other's. I do think there should be some restrictions and regulation on this process, however. Even during the height of the soviet union there existed a huge bartering/ black market that was.....CAPITALISM. The problems arise from finance and banking. Why make any products at all when you can make more more money simply by loaning money than you could make actually making something useful or marketable? That's what saps money to the small "1%"

      Agriculture should be our main focus. It should be started NOW! What ever can be planted should be planted depending on the season.Americans should not be looking any longer to other countries for sustainance. We should be reaching the point of less reliance on other countries. There is much empty vast acres of land that can be cultivated. Make use of it before its too late. The Amerindians/ East Indians knows much about planting that's all they do and it shows that their survival in any situation like this ( food shortage) they can never go hungry because they know how. That is what they do. Its one of the main aspects of survival. Americans need to get into the habit of FARMING / PLANTING GROWING THEIR OWN FOOD.. Its serious times. We need to wake up their is suffering around the world it has started in some countries starvation and callapse of nations are happening. Especially in third world countries. We here in the large cities have to come to the attention of what is about to come
      on this planet. Be wise guys there is trouble ahead and being on the idea of large cities. Some of us who can leave should leave these large cities find the country to live. Country living should be our focus. Its better where you have empty lands to plant and grow food for your family and ever to export to the cites. I think that what be the best we can and should be doing or else many of us will be at the mercy of what we are experiencing at present. But what it looks like in America we are heading for disaster if things don't change for the better!! Peace.

      The cost of living in California is criminal. $50,000 a year and I would be doing more than surviving, I would thrive. What needs to be done is to change the system itself. Moving from place to place won't help it, because high volumes of people at any given city will increase the cost of living in those cities too. What needs to change and move is the economy, not the people.

      You cannot freeze prices. If you try doing that you will find your goods are exported to locales where the price freeze doesn't apply. You could implement export bans to prevent this but then farmers/manufacturers are disincentivized and stop producing due to low prices and a restricted market. You end up with empty shelves and shortages.

    • @tonysoprano9530
      @tonysoprano9530 2 роки тому

      @@MrBlaxjax Interesting. I certainly don't have a background in economics. Would the same producers still feel disincentivised if there is demand for what they sell? • @MrBlaxjax
      @MrBlaxjax 2 роки тому +2

      @@tonysoprano9530 no, because all producers have to meet costs themselves. Many of those costs are imported and therefore cannot be controlled. The government might instruct a road transport company not to raise prices. But if the price of diesel doubles, that company will have to restrict operations or perhaps even go out of business. If this happens throughout a country then goods will not get delivered. Same with farming. If the government sets the produce at lower prices than market, but the farmer is suffering increased costs then the incentive to bring food to market is reduced. More subtle than that is even if the farmer isnt facing higher costs, the incentives are still reduced.All of this creates shortages. To be more accurate supply of goods and services is reduced. Assuming demand remains constant the paradox of price control is inflation. Think about it. You go to the shops, you want to buy bread. There isn't any in the shops because of price controls. But there's a guy outside selling bread on the black market. Well if course he will be charging more than the government set price. Do you pay that price? Do you have any choice?

In the ' old days ' food consisted more than 50 percent of an income now food is trown away as it consists merely 10 or less percent. People spend most of their income for useless and temporary needs and desires and wonder that the world economy is falling apart ... more comfort, more money, more assets, more worries and stress, instead of value what really matters, , less is more and share with others who are not so fortunate, because at the end of the day : we can't eat money at all. The world is progressing towards a situation where a vaste number of people become equal to some kind of slaves trying to make ends meet... like in the time of the Romans, Greek and Egyptians and many other so called high developed cultures ... and remain slaves untill they die...

People who constantly breed, yet can’t afford to feed or educate have NOBODY but themselves to blame! 8 billion nearly, India overtaking China! Shameful! One of the poorest and uneducated country, won’t stop producing! No sympathy, sorry!

    Here is the ugly truth, we are going to lose a billion people in the next 5 years. Nations will fail and mass migration will happen. Borders will get fortified. Farms in Ukrainian are off line at minimum of 5 years, even if fighting ends soon. You need 5 things to build a farm, capital, machines, imputes( fertilizer, pesticides, herbicides) infrastructure ( roads, bridges, irrigation, rail and ports) stable governance. Ukraine has lost all this, Russia half of this,and other nations one or more! This is the difference between substance farming ( feed your self, family and a couple neighbors) and real farms that feed towns and cities! So people will die and producing nations will ban or have very selective exports. Like Russia and India now. They are just the first ones....

      It's not really that simple. You need to also increase the supply of goods. Higher wages means people chase too few goods and will just lead to higher prices once again. If you put price controls it will lead to supply shortages as there will be less incentive for smaller competitors to produce as they wont be able to profit without economy of scale. The real problem was are idiot governments printing a bunch of money and locking down the world.

    Central Bankers monopoly of money creation is coming to it's natural maturation, hyper inflation. Why else do price of homes in USA and stock market keep going up and up. Charging interest on money loaned should not be counted as GDP but as inflation. Therefore if you charge 2% interest rate the inflation rate should also be 2% compounded annually. So long as Central Bankers are never audited central bankers can print money and buy what ever they want. Navy's, Airforces, ports, railroads, refineries, Presidents entire nations. Central Bankers are trying to destroy Russia, the only country on Earth standing in the way of DAVOS ,WEF, IMF bankers from taking over the entire world. All governments are gangsters fighting over territory, it is as simple as that. When Pol Pak genocided one fourth of Cambodia population, famine was the tool he used . It is the DAVOS WEF people who are causing petrol shortages, and escalating the war in Ukraine, which is causing famines ,fuel shortages. But yet DAVOS, United Nations people are saying they are trying to save the planet by killing billions of people. Think about it !!! The International Socialists are creating another mass genocide.

    @joefreeman9733 2 роки тому +2

    Well....
    Personally I'd start with energy production and distribution. Because in a mechanized world the cost of energy is a major factor in every step of food production and distribution.
    Next I'd address theincreasing food production c tion. This is especially important considering thst the Russians have interfered with and c are destroying the production n of sroundv20 percent of the world's wheat production.
    Almost all of the world's popul a tion consumes whe as t as bread noodles pasta etc.
    It's entirely possible to increase e nergy production with out reliance on the cartel run by the Ssudi Russian cartel if it were desired. It's entirely possible to greatly increase we h est production in the American Midwest and Argentina for example its entirely pos a idle to give Ukrsine the means to evict the Rus s Ian's from their country and bring food production and shipments of oil as nd wh we a t back on line in 2 years.
    What IS a severe problem is how the poor s t marginalized countries as with expanding population can continue to afford to feed their people..
    Another major problem is the tendency of most nations to quarrel with other nations and thus spend huge chucks of their income on weapons and armies.
    And a final major problem is the social programs in many countries are misdirected . The primary thrust of social programs should be enabling people to become productive earners rather than recipients of insufficient charity.
    As far as failing distribution chains are concerned it was inevitable for many reasons.
    But the major reasons were complexity reliance on a sole source snd reliance on undetectable sources.
    We see the effects of the last clearly with the over reliance of Europe on Russian natural gas for example. As well as the centralization of the microchip industry.
    The more complex a supply chain is and the more it relies on 1 least cost producer the greater the chance of a failure somewhere along the line.

    Some brave new World change is needed here. I vote for lab-grown meat to replace today's meat industrial practices. Even plant-based foods would be better to grow indoor. Give time for nature to bring back the eco-system that we converted to farmlands, cattle-farms, pig pens, etc. Grow trees, use bio-char to enrich soils to lock in carbon within soil for plants' roots to absorb instead of letting them bond with oxygen in the air to form CO2. And that's all I know.
