Took my dad's XL125 (well, not too 125 at all, prolly 175) to the trails and I looked up restoration vids and found this gem instead, then realized it could really take a lot more than what I did. Boosted my confidence a lot.
My first bike, Honda XL125S bought new in 1983 in Zaragoza (Spain). Power: 12cv. Drum brakes. Z-0111-S plate. Both fuel tank and rear mudguard were not made from plastic, but metallic; they were fragile offroading. Great bike. Simple, reliable, 2litres every 100km. I will never forget it.
Dunno if you remember but I once had a PE 175 1980 model Suzuki ....sure it was slow and suspension wasn’t up to going warp speed , but it did do every thing else and fun to ride
Gutsy little motors in the xl, east to work on and cheap for parts. Lots of fun to ride the rough stuff on without the fear of dropping a 4k modern one.
Beautiful old bikes really add up to a good time. The latest and greatest are not at all necessary .
