Writing level 1 in February and im in agreement with alot of these! I will have put in around 400 hours but I did take some days off because working 50-70 hours a week and studying burnt me out a ton. I did just graduate from a CFA affiliated finance degree so I feel like I had a good leg up on some competitors on some of the more technical finance units! Overall I’m just going to enjoy the experience and I love the feeling of putting my brain to good use
Thanks! I did not pass the first round, but these are great tips. I am going to memorize the formulas as much as possible and set up flash card/spreadsheets to quiz myself on them.
Memorizing the formulas toward the end close to the exam date: That worked for me for Level 2. Also when memorizing those formulas, I also recall the tangential concepts related to them.
Very helpful! I’m taking Level 1 in May and I also just started working so it requires a lot of time management. Studying finance in college, I find much of level 1 to be review of what I studied just a few months ago
I’m gonna start studying for the Nov 2022 exam as a senior in college. This comment will be what’s pushing me to keep studying and to pass in the first try!!
Hi AJ, Insightful video I must say. I've been watching your videos for over a year but just made up my mind to take L1 in AUG'22. I will come back here to celebrate.
I just made up my mind to take level 1 in 2023. I just want to know if they provide study materials with registration or we have to buy them differently?
@@jannee9934 Hello Jan, yes, upon registration you’ll have an access to a Learning Ecosystem where you can read through the entire curriculum. Goodluck!
I am going to appear for level 1 August 2022. I haven't started preparing yet. But all this anxiety has already started building up. And I am hoping I can start the prep as soon as possible while keeping in mind the points mentioned in the video. Great Video!!
I also registered for August 2022 and feel like I need the whole year to study because I have to manage my household, and also work full time. We will be consistent, study hard and pass this exam!!

I was able to pass level 1 in May 2021. I never stressed about formulas. If you do enough practice problems, you will learn a good portion of the formulas naturally over time. Yea, I still rewrote formulas 10-20 times in the last month, but I never stressed about it. The key for me was doing practice questions and consistently reviewing material that I previously covered. Just study every day and focus on learning. Don’t think about a minimum passing score or the possibly low pass rate. Best of luck.
Hello AJ. You were right, I have completed accounting level 1 . Now doing fixed income- sooo boring. I wouldn’t say it is difficult a lot to memorize, but so booooring 😅
Hi AJ, thanks for the video. I’ve subscribed to your channel a few weeks ago, and it has been very helpful. I have a question regarding the study guide from Wiley. Did you read the actual physical books, just read the content that is presented below their video lessons, or just watched the videos?
Hey Joao, thanks for subscribing! Great question. Personally, I usually just watched the video and took my own notes. Sometimes I would read their written study notes (Wiley books) when the video didn't make sense to me.
Hi AJ, thank you so much for your insights! Do you think going through CFAI reading material is critical in addition to your video & notes? Do you think Kaplan Schweser's notes instead of CFAI material are a good bet since it is concise? I intend to subscribe to your videos, do CFAI qbank, blue box, EOCQ & mock tests. Thank you so much Gaurav - Level 1
@straight talks I will be studying for CFA L1 only from the curriculum shared by them is there any problem with that . Like I completely understand and able to solve questions studying from that. Is it important to study from other prep providers ?
I'm an Aerospace Engineering student going to write CFA next year, how much hour's should I devote per day (I'm having straight 365days+) ? As I am from non finance background so I feel a need to put more time than average person.
@@straighttalks-ajsrmek323 I'm from India having two bachelor degrees i.e. Bachelor's in Aerospace Engineering and Bachelor's in Programming and Data Science. I really enjoy math and statistics and want to use them computationally and I guess no field is better than finance as per my interest, hence I want to pursue MS in Financial Engineering or Quantitative Finance or relevant fields after my bachelor's which is ending after a year and want to work in Investment banking firms.
