I got a Zabala Hermanos in the late 60's, from the Navy PX. Went to put it away, dry fired both barrels and the firing pin tips rattled down the barrels. Had it repaired, the gunsmith said the barrels are good, but the rest of it was probably made in somebody's back yard. I still have it, still shoots well.
thanks a lot, mate! I'm a big fan of Spanish AYA, and I. Ugartechea'S GUNS.
Greetings from Armenia! Thank You very much for the interesting reviews and useful content!
Hi, really like your videos!
Would like to point out another Spanish gunmaker than no longer exists, but was founded in the 19th century: Victor Sarasqueta. I came across one side-by-side this year, and it was a really gorgeous gun with some beautiful engraving.
Cheers!
Hi. I really like his UA-cam channel and everything he explains about the AYA shotguns side by side. Since I like to hunt with single barrel muzzleloading shotguns. I like that I mentioned the Ardesa factory, which manufactures the Fowler model. I would like to have an original English muzzleloading shotgun, single shot, in 12 gauge to be able to hunt with it here in Spain. Best regards.
Great video friend! You would definitely enjoy a visit to the Basque country, as most of the houses you mention were established there. Salud!
My first gun was a lanber 15 yr ago, still my only gun now. Rock solid and dependable. Love the thing and will never sell it no matter what
I own several over and under shotguns but for some reason I love my Lanber. It is my favorite by far. Not sure why and not many people have those here in the US
Of that lot, Bergara has made a huge impact to the US market in the past few years. They targeted the big box stores with mass-produced MOA-capable rifles.
Dont forget most of them are Basque gunmakers. Some of them continue creating new guns but unfortunately the other are living very difficult times. I love visiting my gunsmith in Eibar, and sometimes a visit AYA, Parkemy or El Reno. Garbis owners are also very polite. And i hope i will also visit Bergara soon, but first i will need to save some money for taking back a b14 take-down with me!
Thanks you for this videos, i love them.
PD: Sorry for my English, im Basque :)
I was given a Master boxlock shotgun by a friend of the family. It's my first shotgun and I'll be honest it turned some heads at my local clay ground when I was dusting clays with it.
When u speack inglish and sudenly comienzas a hablar español
Amazing series.
In Canada Zabala Hermanos were imported and sold by CIL Idustries . I have a 12g with modified choke on one side and full on the other , 30" barrel . I also have a 20g . They are both in mint condition . Very nice and solid shotguns . They are both exactly the same but the 20 gauge has a 20 inch barrel , both are 3 inch magnum chamber . Got them both for 150$ can . 😛
What about victor sarrasqueta ...the most iconic shootgun maker in spain
Kemen
Awesome coverage of Spanish range. Am desperately trying to find some history about Industras Marixa Armas (IMA) also from Eibar in Spain. Am really struggling to find anything online. Would tremendously appreciate any insight. Very much appreciated
Sarasqueta fantastic guns!!! Collector items!!
I've got an Astra-made boxlock side-by-side. It's very much and english style gun, straight wrist, scroll floral engraving, etc. My guess is that it was made in the 1960s. It's a little off the face and there's a goose-egg at the front of each chamber, but it still runs like a scalded dog.
Zabala hermanos o/u I bought as a first gun many years ago and still shot it today, just one of them guns you enjoy
Good day Johnny
Thanks again too much snobbery about Spanish guns one of my oldest friends has been shooting a basic Ugartachea for 40 years or so and he's bloody deadly with it apart from some basic maintenance it has never missed a beat we still see lots of AYA yeoman and I can remember them being advertised on the back of the shooting times for about £37 those were the days
I have a Spanish kromson fo.32 black skeet OU which looks very similar to the kemen maybe worth doing some research on it 👍it has a strange 2 piece stock which you can add and remove shims to change the LOP. awesome video as always.
Don’t they make clay traps nowadays?
@@tgsoutdoors I'm not sure i have a feeling they have folded now. the kromson guns where originally sold through webley and scott back in the 80s 👍.
And yes they did make clay traps, no idea if they still are 👍
Hi: I heard you say a coupe of times "why would I ever have a SXS made without ejectors"?? I want to have one made with extractors. What would I be losing??
Thanks!
Cheers Jonny, I enjoyed that alright, tis a shame that so many companies have gone.... looking forward to the German episode ;-)
One of the hardest ones! I have been building up to Germany, America, Italy and Britain as the big and complex ones.
@@tgsoutdoors I hear you... the only problem after this series of videos is me not having won the Euro millions!
Gotta love a lanber.
Ugartechea is only technically still around. They were confirmed to be ceasing production back in 2016, sadly.
a lot more gun makers in Spain than i thought possible
I’ve a Spanish laurona 83mg great rabbit gun brought it unfired even though it’s a 1993 model sat in a safe for 25 years except for a oil and dust of ... best $500 I ever spent
If only I had a tenner for everytime you say however in your videos. I'd be able to buy a lovely expensive pair🤣🤣
a pair for each of us?
@@tgsoutdoors hahaha almost definitely. HOWEVER im getting mine first🤣🤣
How do i reset the trigger hammers on a zabala side by side
Anyexamples of that parkemy sxs around i cant find details anywhere! As a young sxs gun i need it!
German gun makers next john?
With two members asking, how could it not be next!
One more interesting video, just not sure if you need to tweak the sound. but still OK.
I bought my Lambert o/u as a 18th birthday present to my self 34 years ago come September and cost £350 its basic but does my job.
LARM ,Armas Garbi , grulla armas and AYA are the top best in Spain and worldwide
Think I'll replay this at 3/4 speed. I recall that a British maker once held a Spanish royal warrant from Alfonso XIII...not sure who it was...maybe Stephen Grant.
I believe it was Purdey. When King alphonse died, it was said at purdeys that a very good friend of the house had died... Also Victor Sarasqueta held a warrant as well
Sarasqueta died in 1930 or 31 I think. Not sure...
@@JoaoMariaMonteiro I'm sure the King had a very large number of guns. But I was thinking about the English maker who had 2 daughters. One died of diphtheria. When the second became ill the King's physician sent meds for her and she recovered.
it would be nice if you gave a rough price on the gun you are talking about , for all i know they are 600 quid guns . am i right .
Any more info on Sarasqueta?
How about a video on the recently bankrupt German gunmaker SIG Sauer Johnny ?
ro eng That information is not quite correct. Yes they are closing a factory in Kiel with the loss of 125 jobs. internationalsportsman.com/sig-sauer-is-not-bankrupt/
How could you forget felix sarasketa? The cheap gun you pitted against the Caesar guerini. Considering mine was bought 2nd hand and it's a 1983 proofed gun it's in damn good shape for a non ejecting double trigger o/u
Not forgotten, but I didn’t think they have made guns for some years?
@@tgsoutdoors probably quite right but with how it looks the Basque gunmakers seem to just migrate from one company to another. I noticed that particular gun looks a hell of a lot like a lot of other cheap spanish and italian o/u's
👍👍👍. 👏👏👏
Johnny what are your thoughts on William Powell, the new ones I’m told are just a poor mans aya? Have you had them in and had any issues?
They were an Arrieta built gun, however they are now an Italian gun i believe. We will be reviewing the new Powell at some point soon.
@@tgsoutdoors Rizzini I believe they call it a Powell perdix
Okay
Are there any British gunmakers that make attainable guns for normal people?
No
Are you really abnormal?
Rifles yes, shotguns not really.
@@tgsoutdoors Rifles? Who out of curiosity? all I can think of are Webley Scott who sell German produced rifles & Turkish/Italian shotguns.
@@BluTrollPro Rigby?
I thought ugartechea closed in 2016...they running again?
do you now how made Bristol Deluxe side by side and is spanish?
Gun shops should open 15 june Jonny, do you think ?
Most are
We have a lot of peole coming to spain to buy Guns the last decades, many Russian Tourist, Germans, French, and also americans. Don´t forget authentic Spanish Steel Sword from Toledo. Really different of anything before.
They need to go back to making Smith and Wesson Model 3 copies
is lamber closed?
Unfortunately...They went out of business. My favorite over under shotgun (and I own several)
Arrieta out of business? When did this happen?
I❤️Spain Shottguns =Arte . $$$$$ €€€€
Show single barrel gun 32inch made in Spain
Hi Johnny, when will TGS be reopening?
Last I heard it was 15th of June, in line with government ruling. But check their social media to be sure.
The 15th June.
TGS Outdoors thanks! Is it possible for you to order a wildcat cub moderator for me before the 15 ( if it’s possible) so I could pick it up when your open?
If you email on info@tgsoutdoors.co.uk - the guys there will help you out as soon as its legal to do so!
Zabala hermanos zh
... dommage pas un mot sur UGARTECHEA et PEDRO GOROSABEL..
por favor español. como hace carword en coches
Hi great videos you do! Thanks! I thought urgatchea went bust in 2016 or thereabout. How did you find out they're still in business? Thanks! Also I own and shoot a 1943 Sarasqueta DW-E and am a big fan of the Eibar phenomenon - even though Spain and Portugal are rivals eheheh. Do you have any videos on "vintage" sarasquetas? Or ayas for that matter! All the best
Hi Jonney, Love the info on Spanish gunmakers. I live here in Spain but there are few decent gunshops around, that care at all I must say problem with your video the audio is to low and I caNOT understand you. You speak very fast and its difficlt to understand. Sorry to complain. Regards, Bryan
POR FAVOR ESPAÑÑOLLLLLLLLLLL NO SE ENTIENDE NADA DE LO QUE DICE LO MIRO SOMPLEMENTE ME GUSTAN LAS ARMAS SOBRETODO LAS ESCOPETAS POR FAVOR CASTELLANOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Can you do a video on removing Franchi ejectors please!
is zoli still in business?
Yes, they are. Antonio Zoli that is.
Mostly shotguns? Interesting videos but just peasant guns, so limited interest to me. From Spain I know star, lama, astra, etc.....
