Thanks a bunch for this very nice video tutorial. Pulling the wires out of that connector is a pain in the butt. Ended up cutting the wires after a long try. PS. Nice Rolex :)
Just got my 2022 Road King and wasn‘t sure if they would fit on my bike… like them better than the very common pop up ones… now i know that it will work …cool 😎👍🏼 wish you lots of safe rides … greetings from Germany
I just bought the same bike and appreciate your video, you explained it well with lots of detail. I'm going out to buy my LED gauge and cap tomorrow. A+++
True story brother! And I think I am pretty much done with "blacking out" things... Now I only want to get LEDs for the back of the bike, and blinkers. And Done!
I take pictures all the time when I work on something. Those look great. Better than the chrome I believe. I like that you removed the old one like a gentlemen and didn't just cut the plug off. Smart.
I think they look good too... The color and also I like their style. Most of my friends have the flush mount style, but everybody has those. I like these because they are a bit more "old school" looking. Those pins were a pain to remove, but yes, I don't like to destroy things.... We pay a lot of money for our bikes! Thank you my friend for stopping by. Ride safe.
Those black caps go really good with color of the tank. Cosmetic upgrades make the bike more personal, you feel a little more connected to the bike as you turn it into what you want.
Thank you brother! True story on the cosmetic upgrades...But I think I am done with that, other than some LEDs at the rear end of the bike. Time to save for trips!!!!
The truth is I was going for the "Custom Red Hot Rod" paint but the intense flake in it made it a bit too "Disco" for my taste. So I ended up with this Denim Charcoal. The truth is that the combo of this with Black looks pretty good! Thank you for stopping by, my friend!
Well done, also gonna save me some Cussing on that Lock mechanism on the Gauge side Harness, some videos show them fighting the pins inside with a screwdriver to release the pins out, so looks like there is that tab to unlock to pull out without buggering up the pins and Harness . Waiting on an Xtreme Machine chrome ( Death ) model to arrive. Safe Riding, Cheers !
My RK Special is back home after a 16" Apehanger install... I love these Handlebars!!! This upgrade has made me love my bike even more... Ride safe brother.
That’s a nice setup I like the fuel gauge. At that they are leds which makes even better. Always nice to know how much gas you have. All I have is a light that comes on and tells me I need fuel, so every time I go out I always put gas in. Be safe out there bro. Good stuff!!!
The truth is that it is always good to gas up! I am not too good at that. I get carried away with the ride and always get close to the end. But this gauge is easy to see and it's a good reminder... Thank you brother! You be safe too!
Thank you so much brother! Btw...The bracelet is from "Badass Jewellery". Stainless. They make awesome stuff and their prices are real good! Ride safe my friend!
i noticed the part number 75358-10A is actually diffirent from what it says on the box to what it says on the actual guage 75358 and 75359. i want this exact layout for my 2013 dyna trying to get the right one. I think ill order the same exact thing as u
WOW, nice job brother !!! Doing some work on the ride? Looks great !!! 20HP plus on that, for sure !! LOL LOL LOL ..if in red 30HP ... maybe next time !! Ahahaha !! Very well done, quick, easy and clean !! Do you make house calls? LOL LOL ... IO have a few mods to install on my Kelly ... I'll be sending you some draws ... hihihihihihihi ... Naaaahhhh, better not, then we would have to found a new country, ahahahahahahah ... Loved to watch. Cheers
Hahahahahahah!!! Next project... A bike build!!! When I win the lottery!!! I think I must have an extra 10HP with these! It will do for now! LOL! Ride safe my friend and Rock ON!!!!
How much for the original? I assumed this would be easier. I actually bought a stock one brand new for $40 So it didn’t come with the “new housing” What’ll I get charged $500 for that Thanks, that sure helped, you’re awesome
Nice mod brother. I noticed the setup a few videos ago and hoped you documented the install. I also hope the new gauge is more accurate than my stock part. They say these tanks hold 6 gallons but I swear the most I have ever been able to squeeze in mine is 5 gallons after running it down to where the miles left to empty on the display reads 10. I had it replaced under warranty but the second gauge wasn’t much better. If it’s a 6 gallon tank I should still have 1 gallon when my gauge and readout shows bone dry. Have you experienced this? One HD tech told me the capacity of the tank would be 6 gallons without all the extra stuff in the tank reserved for the gauge / sending unit. I don’t know. Regardless, great video!
Great job! Very well explained! 2 questions: 1) Why do you have a KM/H on your speedo instead MPH? 2) Who is the band playing in the background? Really great music! Thanks! - OTL
Great video ! thank you. Question I have not received the Bike yet waiting on delivery so, the side with the LEDs is not the filler side right? do you have to purchase 2? I can't find a flush mount cap with no LEDs maybe its me. In any case thanks again.
Your correct. That side is just to let you know how much fuel is left. The right side is where you fill up at.The flush mount gas cap set up is flat and flush.I don't think they have any lighting on them.(2018 Road King Special Owner)
Probably. But If I get into the trip of blacking everything out...It will get crazy! I would rather work on LED blinkers and LED rear running light... The engine has some chrome accents anyway. So it's all good. Thanks brother!
I want to put these on my 2018 special but when going to HD website it states it does not fit with my bike? Did you get the same response and decided to install anyway? thank you for your time
I'm more of a chrome guy but those new caps look good on your RK special. And kudos for taking a pic on the wiring. I do that now on any first time projects. And on any big or complicated jobs, I record a short vid so I can get the project from different angles to make certain. BTW: are you aware that you scream like a little girl? (haha) Hopefully, your daughter liked the new caps, too :-)
Keeping some kind of step-by-step record is the best thing to do. I can only imagine how much more complicated it would be, to be dealing with engine parts and more "serious" projects. A build for example. And right in the middle of the video the neighbors' kids decided to come outside and play! Well...I had to communicate with them somehow! Hahahahahah!
Thank you brother! I have installed auxiliary lights on my crash bars. They light low and close to the bike. This is the on/off switch. Like the standard Road King or the Heritage.
Oh boy...That would have been something! But I made sure to do the install BEFORE the ride! Otherwise there would be all that metal cooling sounds from the engine in the video. Plus, I would get burned! Ride safe my friend.
Thanks a bunch for this very nice video tutorial. Pulling the wires out of that connector is a pain in the butt. Ended up cutting the wires after a long try.
PS. Nice Rolex :)
What a great alternative to flush mount cap and gauge. Thanks for the info and great video!

Man what a nice upgrade, makes a 100% difference in the way the bike looks.
True story brother! And I think I am pretty much done with "blacking out" things... Now I only want to get LEDs for the back of the bike, and blinkers. And Done!
Harley's horizontal LED strip lights that go under the bag lids are very bright run, come in red or smoke.

Love the new fuel caps...the led really adds something to the bike, you made that look so easy...nicely done you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you beautiful gil!!! Hopefully....More LED to come soon!!!!

Love how that turned out. They look really good with that color scheme.

Oh man that looks real clean that’s an awesome look! After watching this I think I can do this upgrade thanks for sharing!
Real easy to do, brother! The hardest part was just taking the pins out of the original housing. Other than that...Piece of cake!
Ride safe brother.
Will this fit fxdb dyna 2014

Thank you brother!!!
Nice addition to the Road King! Looks good and probably easier to see?
Thank you my friend!
For sure it's a lot easier to see! Especially at night! Those LEDs are so bright!
What kind of a hole did you put the wires through in the gas tank?
Great video ! thank you. Question I have not received the Bike yet waiting on delivery so, the side with the LEDs is not the filler side right? do you have to purchase 2? I can't find a flush mount cap with no LEDs maybe its me. In any case thanks again.

I am pretty sure there must be a fuel gauge for the Shovel.....
I want to put these on my 2018 special but when going to HD website it states it does not fit with my bike? Did you get the same response and decided to install anyway? thank you for your time

Lol. Yes, I find that when I scream and yell, people pay more attention to me, also :-)
Great tutorial and it looks great. I have a question though. What is the switch by your handlebars?
Thank you brother!
I have installed auxiliary lights on my crash bars. They light low and close to the bike. This is the on/off switch. Like the standard Road King or the Heritage.
BigBadWolfMoto thank you. That makes sense. I thought I was missing something haha!
WhenPigsFly
I was wondering the same thing when I seen it!
Looks bad ass bro...
I'm pretty happy, brother. Gotta get used to the new look!
Would this fit on a 2019 Road King Special?
I have the same one. But it never shows the correct fuel status.
Nice. Is that 220 on the dash????
Thank you brother! Yes. 220 KMs.
KEWELL!!!! :-D
HA! FIRST for a change! Now...............to *watch* the video! hahahaha!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hahahahahahah!!!!!
This is a Public Service Announcement...
If you do this immediately after a ride, engine may be hot.
Thank you.
Oh boy...That would have been something!
But I made sure to do the install BEFORE the ride! Otherwise there would be all that metal cooling sounds from the engine in the video. Plus, I would get burned!
Ride safe my friend.
I figured that.. if we have to label coffee.. I should probably mention that. There might be someone...
I had to skip to the end the suspence was killing me.😳
I did the same thing too!!!! Hahahahah!!!!
Thank you for stopping by, my friend!
