    Those Steam Cloud saves are low key the MVP for me. Wish more games i played had that feature. Was playing Divinity Original Sin 2 on desktop for awhile, wanted to lay down, and swapped to my Deck without losing progress. Pretty neat way to get another 2 hours or so of gaming.
    If other mobile handhelds had track-pads and gyro support, I'd consider them for future upgrades, but not a ton of them are. So I'm with the Deck likely until that happens!

    I've been using the device for a while and I'm conflicted. On the one hand, it's great to be able to play almost all games anywhere, on the other hand, the short battery life is very limiting for graphically complex games. As a father of small children who has no time to play on the desktop PC, however, the device is a great opportunity to play for a short time during the short breaks.

There is alot of videos out there to help you get started +temperatures usually comes down 15-20c and ofc use deckyloader and fastantic plugin to set custon fan curve. Keep it cool.. keep it safe.. This is the way 😅

    • @jonvaliagas
      @jonvaliagas  Рік тому

      @@hornantuutti5157 I agree. The only reason I don't bring a lot of the more technical stuff up, despite being a tech channel is that I don't think every user knows HOW to, or is that technical. At least when making a video and talking about the near plug/ play experience it allows people to know what they can expect out of the box. But yes, the Deck has a lot of performance overlay options, and tons of tools to change nearly everything about the system, and they make it quite easy.

I managed to get Warhammer 40K Darktide, perhaps my best looking game, running at a solid 30fps on low at 800p with FSR while docked, very impressive, very playable, and still looks great. My daughter doesnt play very demanding games, but the fact that the deck can hold up if necessary is fantastic, excellent machine and great as a first step into the realm of PC gaming. FSR 3 implementation on the Deck is going to be wild. Cheers for the vid. 👍

    I don't really play AAA games on a handheld, it's best experienced on the best performance on PC. But I still bought a Steam Deck for the indie games.This is perfect for indie games since they don't really require high-end performance. There are games in my library that are tedious to always play on my PC sitting on a chair and wishing that I want to play this on the bed or sofa or everywhere. Alas, I fell in love with my steam deck. I can finally enjoy simple indie games on the go wherever in my house or outside.

      @@DemiGod1985 My indie games are mostly RPG-maker games & adult games.
      Symphony of War is a good game and very similar to the old Fire Emblem games
      The Heroic Legend of Eagarlnia is also a decent game
      Tale of Immortal is good too
      Langrisser I & II, like I said I really like RPG games
      Echoes of Aetheria is another RPG-makerR game.
      Utawarerumono trilogy is not really an indie game but I've always wanted to play since long ago but have no English localization or I was too poor to buy them when I was a kid.
      As I said it's mostly RPG-maker games or tactical tabletop rpg or RPG games entirely. Some are decent and others are a decent time-killer
      what really takes my game time are adult games with real and sometimes decent stories and gameplay like these
      Apostle
      Apostle: Rebellion
      Island Saga
      The Last Sovereign
      Renryuu: Ascension
      Love n War: Warlord by Chance
      Hero by Chance
      VenusBlood
      there's a lot more but some of the games are not steam deck optimized yet so when I tried them they crash.
      these are adult games but I do not just want them for that but the gameplay and story. you know like Witcher and dragon age that is a great game with some adult content. I want a great game with some rated things not just simple rated x games that are just that. hope this helps if you read this far 😅😅😅

      If you're planning to use the Steam Deck to play on the couch or bed, then you'll probably be satisfied with the display of the 64gb or 256gb. I've got the 256gb and I think it's the best option, it's enough to have a AAA title and some indie games installed at the same time and I don't even think about upgrading it. I'm really happy with my Steam Deck as it is. I just haven't playing outside, so I can't tell how's the display with direct sunlight, don't think it's great, though. Anyway, the price of the 512gb is to much and just the disk space and a different display don't justify it, in my opinion. (About upgrading: I haven't, but by what I've seen so far, it's really no big deal if you have a little experience with upgrading computers)

    • @napaulaon
      @napaulaon Рік тому +1

      forgot to add: if you really like indie games and think you'll need more than the 256gb, then the sd card will solve your problem, you can have a sd card to install all your indie games and leave the 256gb to your AAA titles that will really need the ssd to work faster.

Also after finding graphics settings and fps limit you should drag down the tdp as there is usually easy way to get more battery time.. And in cpu heavy tittles limit gpu and all this takes your battery consumption and head prodused down alot. Temps usually go down 15-25c depending on the tittle. Battery time goes up 1-3 hours. It can be done game spesific so affects only the game you tweak.3 dotts menu is your friend.

      The nice thing about the Steam Deck is the ability to emulate a ton of games, play full PC games, and have a dockable game console, as well as a full fledged portable PC on the go.
      I think the Deck is very niche however, and honestly, if you're happy with your phones performance for PS2 emulation and that's all you want to do, I wouldn't even bother looking further. If you wanted a more dedicated, and more pocketable emulator however the Retroid Pocket 3+ looks amazing and it's running android as well.
      Steam Deck emulation is cool, but the magic is more-so in what else it can do, and a collection of everything. I myself used my Fold 4 for gamecube emulation, but I got bored of it and having a handheld dedicated to it is really nice.

      @jonvaliagas  Рік тому +1

      That's a complicated thing to answer, because it really depends on how much tweaking you want to do. Out of the box it supports quite a lot of titles. Though, it's limited to games from Steam OS. You can look up a list of verified titles for the Deck, which is curated by Valve, though even that is still hit or miss. There are some games rated "playable" that work better than "verified" titles. It's really just a culmination of community response to certain titles.
      That being said, you can enter the full Linux desktop environment and download emulator cores to play older consoles, actually, you could technically play anything up to the Nintendo Switch. (Conversation around this is a little dicey, as it's piracy unless you own, and convert your own physical media), but that's besides the point.
      You can download other launchers, like Battlenet from the Linux environment, and add them to your steam library so you're able to download and play games like Overwatch, or Diablo though. - That being said, if you're someone who likes playing lots of multiplayer shooters, maybe check out the ROG Ally, since it's running Windows, whatever plays on a typical gaming PC would be compatible.
      The problem with Steam OS/ being Linux is that there's a lot of Anti-Cheat software that just isn't compatible, so games like Fortnite for example just do not work.

    One thing to add about buying the expensive version vs just putting the anti-glare protector on yourself is that you're putting a PROTECTOR ON YOUR SCREEN. I regret buying the expensive version. I'm just waiting for the screen to crack. Putting a glossy protector on it would have the downsides of the matte screen (dimmer, not as vibrant) WITH the reflective surface, and buying another matte protector would have double dim/quality drop. It's fully a bad idea to buy the most expensive version.
