- Today for the second anniversary of my Remembrances of the Imperium, we shall Elucidate the full-deeds of the First Martyr: Nathaniel Garro.
Known as 'Straight Arrow Garro' by his brethren of the Death Guard Legion, the Battle Captain of the 7th Great Company would survive the Betrayal of Istvaan 3 and escape to warn the Emperor of the impending reprisal of the Warmaster.
Clad in grey armour as the first member of the Knights Errant, as the primogenitor of the clandestine order of Malcadore the Sigilite Nathaniel would serve as the most stalwart defender of the Imperium during the dark days of the Horus Heresy.

Garro was a truly legendary warrior that has shape the future of the Imperium and all the warriors that will come after him, and he is one of the greatest warriors that Pale King fail in seeing his true potential that his son will rival his own.
I've only been into WH40K for about a year now. I have to say that your channel has taught me more about the lore and characters than any other channel! Whenever I want to know about an Imperial faction or character I always look to your channel first to see if you have a video on them. This video specifically came at perfect timing because I just finished Flight of the Eisenstein!
Garro made such an impression on me that I custom-painted my Age of Darkness army in the livery of the Dusk Raiders, assuming that the Loyalist XIV Legionaries at Isstvan III would return to their origins, like the Luna Wolves. I even named 5 of my minis after Garro's command cadre: Pyr Rahl, Tollen Sendek, Solun Decius, Apothecary Meric Voyen, and Veteran Sergeant Andus Hakur

Garro & Loken were, in my estimation, the truest heroes of the Heresy. Standing firm against the heretical will of their gene-fathers, they were emblematic of what the Space Marines, and indeed humanity, were always meant to be. Truly, there were many other astartes of note who defied their primarchs in the Emperors name. But of all the defiant sons, Garro and Loken may very well have held the survival of mankind in their hands.

Mortarion staggered back against the new threat. the lion saw a astartes in burnt warplate engulfed in flames. In his hands he bore a mythical sword of legend. Mortarion hesitated. Even through his corruption,he knew who this was.
"...Nathaniel?" Mortarion said,a hint of fear in his words.
"Mortarion." Garro responded. The lion smirked.
"Battle captain,i believe this is yours!"
With a throw,libertas was soon grabbed by garro. The knight of albions sword was his once more. His un-eyes stared at mortarion.
"Prepare."
Garro would dash towards mortarion. The first time they fought he fell,but the emporors might flowed through the revenant. Silence slammed into libertas,yet despite mortarions advantages,garro ducked below,making a sweeping strike at the leg. The sword rended the decayed ceramite like a hot knife through butter. It was much more even now. Garro moved all through out,never staying in one spot, striking from every angle. Yet mortarion was a warrior beyond peer save curze or sanguinus or even the lion. He parried yet even that did little as garro hammered strike after strike. It was little but it was done. Mortarion turned,and with a spinning motion,silence whirled around him through the motion and mortarions dexterity, garros unflesh was rended and torn yet he stood defiant.
"I pity you for all that is happened mortarion. Perhaps one day you will not suffer so. But today,you fall."
"I am not the same being you faced at terra battle captain!"
"Nor am i,traitor!"

The lion eyed libertas. Despite the primarch never meeting the man,garro was respected universaly,he was a man of staunch bravery and honor.

"It had come into my posession by unfortunate circumstances. I did not know garro,but i have heard of his deeds. Given everything,i figured you may find use for it." Cawl said. The lion smiled a little.
"I never took you for sentimentality."
"I am many things my lord. Many people. I have seen the perspective of many lives. Yet i still serve the machine god because i have faith in the goodness of man,and faith that this darkness will be gone some day. It is naive,perhaps heretical in my order. But i am a man of many things. And i would not dare sully a loyal mans name."
"I see why you and roboute have become quite friends. Thank you,archmagos. Truely."
Arriving back,zabriel eyed libertas.
"Thats garros sword is it not? Whered you find it?"
"Aparently archmagos cawl had it,and gave it to me."
Zabriel nodded. "Quite considerate from a tech priest of all people. What should we do with it?"
The lion eyed libertas closely,then decided.
"Could you see if you can find out if any loyalist chapters may bear the legacy of the death guard?"
"Of course,why?"
"I wish to see this returned to where it belongs. It should be wielded by a true dusk raider. Anything less dishonors the man who wielded this blade."
Zabriel nodded. "Ill have someone look into it."

Great video and happy to see Remembrancer cover Garro! I have a tonne of notes on Garro and the Knights-Errant, so just a really pedantic errata I noticed - 24:12 Serron and his 121st Blood Angels and Nirun and his White Scars weren't inducted into the Knights-Errant, although Garro did offer for them to come back to Terra with him. Black Book 6 describes that they meet with The Nemean's Dark Brotherhood blackshields at the Conclave of Optera, but they refused Garro's offer then the Alpha Legion mess things up and only The Nemean leaves from the Conclave with Garro, Tylos Rubio and Callion Zaven to join the Knights-Errant.
Garro is a chad of the Great Crusade Astartes and he has sown his legend into the history of the Imperium.

Garro is one of those characters to good to lose in the story, but the impact and emotional value of him dying was superb. Great vid Remembrancer.
Garro is one of the best written characters in 30K.
By contrast, most IF characters are awfully written Mary Sues.

What books do I need to read to know all of Garro's stories?
Funny I just finished The Hidden Dagger and Knight of Grey then this video pops up. I think Garro needed to die to secure his status as a legendary hero. I think Mortarion largely got what he deserved being the only primarch who turned to chaos because he was a massive hypocrite and just plain bitter about stupid things, its rather poetic that the Khan buttblasts him before killing him showing that his so called endurance was also a lie. Of all the primarchs I feel like Mortarion's special power is just basically being a smelly loser who always loses is just funny. Even within the Chaos ranks Typhus and Rotigus outshine him and his only saving grace is that he was born a primarch and has a powerful body while having the mind of a petulant child. I feel like to a degree Mortarion is just Lorgar except his religion is about just ruining everything and calling it art and then everyone comes along and calls him a retarded shithead bound to an evil god who is worse than the Emperor.
