Can A TOTAL BEGINNER Fix A 2-Stroke Engine?

I'm a total beginner when it comes to engines of any kind. However, my recently broken-down weed eater / string trimmer gave me a perfect opportunity to test my repair skills by attempting to rebuild (I think that's what it's called) this small engine!
So in this video, I'll try to find out if your regular homeowner should attempt fixing their broken weedeater or not! And I finally figured out what a carburetor is!

jokes aside tho, it was a solid rebuild and you were walking the knife's edge of that of a brave man or a fool when you gave it a paintjob before you gave it a test start :p

Haha. Yeah I was thinking the exact same thing. Making it all pretty to hang on the wall even if it didn’t work. But it did!!

great job , but when hammering on threaded ends, use a nut on the threaded end or a piece of wood or you could ruin your threads on the end.

Thanks! Just got back inside after running the dewalt trimmer for a good 1.5h. Still prefer the electric one for grass, but might use the gas one for thick weeds and bushes :)

Haha, I believe in you! The whole thing took a few days, on and off. Half the time was spent on figuring out what parts go where, and a good chunk of the time went to moving the camera around. So actual build time was probably not that much ;)
