    I currently have the .50, Mortar and Anti-Tank Gun sets. All parts, but no boxes. Excellent condition.
    Being a child of the 70's, I was obsessed with these guys, and the GI Joe Adventure Team, of course!

    I had many of these when I was a kid back in the 70s. Loved them, still do.

    I distinctly remember coming home after having first seen Star Wars in 1977 and while I was playing with these guys I was thinking how cool it would be if I could have Stormtroopers like this and have a whole bunch of them and other characters. Little did I know I single-handedly invented Star Wars action figures and the idea of army building with them.
    I had these back in 1977 had a bunch of the soldiers and the helicopter and the white rocket.
    I adapted some of their big guns and the bazooka to my Stormtroopers so they could have the long rifles.

    Thankyou for this Video, I was very young when these came out, but my cousin had a few of these, and for one reason or another I was never able to get any of these figures, in fact I didn't even know the name of the figures till I found this video!! What stuck out with me at such an early age though was the detail, and originality of these figures for their scale size, also it's uniformity, the same as you would have with the little green soldier men with their adherence to the uniforms of the military, they used quality rubber like plastic for the green uniforms, I thought this was far and away the best model of soldier figures up till that time in that scale.

      Lol Glad you found Heroes in Action. I was the same way with a game I remember in the Hobby Shop/Game Store in the 1980's before I got into D&D RPG. Somehow it finally popped into my head a few years ago as Magic Realm then I found it on boardgamgeek (BGG). There's a gamer on UA-cam who does a play thru.

      Thanx! I figured you'd enjoy them ; This one got to be a much larger video than anticipated. Once I got into it I had to do it right. I sort of rediscovered them in a sense doing this video. I have good memories of my Mom getting a lot of these from Gold Circle on sale. (-Collection THX1138 logged into another account uploading ; )

    Great idea and play value, but the line needed Germans and Japanese enemies to give it any chance at success.
    Could’ve added UK and Aussie soldiers too. And the Ruskies, too!
    Ah man, what could’ve been…

    Great video! Too bad Mattel dumped this line... I had these as a kid and in my adulthood, have collected a bunch of HIA individual and sets. Also loved the Italian version, Eroi in Azione where the German and British versions were made. This is great!

      thanx! it ended up more of a production than I had planned. the italian line is popular on ebay it seems. it is interesting how they took the same basic figures and made them into squads with different roles. unique line

    Man, your videos are the best. I love how much time you put into showing so many details.
    I'm an artist, pretty obsessed with old commercial art, so it's also cool that you're a graphic designer.
    Right when I saw the poster, I loved the orange background with red art and the mostly green soldiers in the foreground,
    and then you mentioned it.
    I wonder how long these were in stores, because I remember being a little kid and seeing these in a comic book ad,
    and not liking how they're made to be on a specific base, but in '75, I was only 4 years old.
    Maybe it was an out-of-date comic book that I saw when I was 5 or 6.
    Anyway, amazing video, as always.

      Thanx very much!! Yeah it is a very cool well designed poster. It's a classic! I don't think the line was out for long. I did some research on the Internet years ago but not prior to doing this vid. My Mom got them on closeout sale at Gold Circle is one thing I probably should have said in the video and I may in fact have a comic book ad. Even with so much detail for a simple action figure concept I want to go back and add things to videos lol Thanx for watching and the great comment!

      Thanx for checking out the videos! yeah these were pretty cool. the vid got far more detailed than it needed to be but being a graphic designer thats the only way I know how to do things ; it was fun to do and reminisce. they would be in more complete shape but I had them stored in a thick plastic bag instead of a box or container for a long time.

  • @andrewtaylor940
    @andrewtaylor940 6 років тому +1

    I'm not sure if you are completely correct regarding enemies. The second wave had some strange sets including a heavily armed attack helicopter and a small submarine with a diver that did not use the same molds as the other figures. There was a large van for the SWAT guys. And one of my friends had one or two of the soldier figures in a dark grey plastic instead of the green. Which as we all know at the time always represented "enemy soldier" I think there were a very small number of grey colored blister packs right at the end of the line. They didn't get wide distribution.

    • @danfinn2210
      @danfinn2210 9 місяців тому

      Yea! I had a set that consisted of a helicopter with heavy artillery. Same mold as the rescue one but it was meant for combat not rescue. Had shark like teeth sticker too. The set also came with a Jeep that towed some sort of large gun/cannon

    • @andrewtaylor940
      @andrewtaylor940 9 місяців тому

      @@danfinn2210 They reused that attack version of the helicopter in different colors for the Marvel Secret Wars 3 1/2” line. It came in a blue Captain America version and a black Dr. Doom version. Same missiles and guns I think.
