  • A relatively quick walk-through of how I use Elf Audio's KOALA app, alongside Kymatica's AUM and using AudioShare (also from Kymatica) to connect the two. (Check full description for links etc).

    Cool video. Not sure if it's already been mentioned in the comments but you can now duplicate a channel in AUM by tapping on the channel name at the bottom. In the video scenario, selecting Audio > selecting File Player > selecting Mix bus > Select Mix Bus A > hit load file > find folder > loading up the file in the player etc. If you duplicate the channel 3 times you don't need to repeat all of these actions. You'll only need to change the file to play. AUM conveniently opens in the file area selected when using this method which is handy if all files are in the same folder.

      Ah, that's absolutely fantastic - thank you, I wasn't aware of that at all & it saves a load of time!

      @@PeteSasqwax BTW another quick AUM tip is, instead of swiping up and then hitting +1 on a channel to add an effect, you can just double tap the FX area and a new empty node will appear.

      @@spooky_zoo excellent! These tips are a perfect excuse to spend more time with AUM (as if I needed one...). Thanks!

    Well done. As a natural consequence perhaps of the 'aw shucks' first effort modesty comes a simplicity which helps the slow boys at the back (self) find it easy to understand and learn from, and for that we thank you :)

      Ha - thanks, that's great to hear! I don't know if it was accidental or intentional, but the whole process is really simple, I think. It's testament to the way the app is designed and works, perhaps - I'll pass the credit that way ;)

    I was lurking on the sp forums and I found your post about Koala and was immediately intrigued and bought the app and I love it so much!I was using BM3 but never got into it although I like it.Looking forward to catch up on your videos!!
    One love bro!

      Ah, that's awesome to hear! I figure it's always worth putting the posts up on forums because, even if people don't find them at the time, chances are they might come in useful at some stage. That's great too hear. I was the same with BM3 - and I do intend to go back to it, but Koala just offered exactly what I wanted to be able to do without much of a learning curve. Everything felt/feels familiar and in the right place. It all works in a way that seems intuitive, but it still surprises me in terms of what it can do and how powerful it is. Thanks a load for watching and for dropping a line!

    Super cool video man! That's exactly what I wanted to do plus tinkering with Koala FX on the fly (just for my ears at the moment 😅
    Question, is there a way to do that ..or closely enough.. on a Mac? I mean, there is no AUM for MacOS as far as I am aware.

    • @PeteSasqwax
      @PeteSasqwax  Рік тому

      Great to hear that it's of use, mate! I've got to admit, although I do have a couple of Ableton setups I've not really spent much time outside iOS for a long time. The way AUM changed my workflow (and my inability to replicate it elsewhere) is a large part of that so I'm afraid I can't offer much help re: MacOS.

    Being completely ignorant of sampling; I just play keyboards, where do you get your samples? I am looking to start. This is really advanced to me :)

    • @PeteSasqwax
      @PeteSasqwax  5 років тому +4

      Aside from drums (which I get from anywhere I can find them - old vinyl, break beat records, friends who have drum kits, drum machines, sample packs) I tend to just sample instruments - either real ones or apps/VST instruments. Once I have the initial instrument sounds inside the sampler (Koala in this case) I process them all using effects (guitar pedals, effects units, apps or desktop plugins) and create my own sounds through that process. I tend to process those notes over and over in different ways, mangling them as much as possible so that they become something new - and then I cut them up, process them again... and so on. Does that help?

    Can you show how to use AUM to import samples into Koala? Specifically, how to import audio from the you tube and Spotify apps into Koala using AUM?

    • @PeteSasqwax
      @PeteSasqwax  4 роки тому

      Hey Brian. The only way I use AUM with Koala is by putting Koala into the insert slot to sample other apps. The method I've seen others use for importing from other apps like those you mention into Koala is by using screen record and then loading the screen recording into Koala. That should work with anything at all you want to sample on your phone/iPad

    • @PeteSasqwax

      There isn't, sadly, but Koala is getting a file picker for Android that will help making load samples easier
