This is great news to be honest! This indicates competition is strong. Ive generally been an AMD builder, but that has generally been due to price to performance. I believe Ryzen kicked Intel in head, to realize that we can't stay complacent. For me, AM5 and Intel gen13 of no interest due to Ram costs. There are barely any canned benchmarks for a lot of pro applications, that's what I specialise in and I had to make my own Autodesk (Inventor) benchmark tool to get stuff tested. I can test 3DS Max but with what scene, the results mean nothing to anyone as the scenes will be custom with no historical or third party testing data to compare with. The SPEC tests aren't all that valuable either as they're just viewport tests which at this point is testing how much faster than already fast enough does it orbit a scene. The likes of CFD is so niche that again nobody has created a standardised test for it, and on what suite, there's tons of them with little to no demand. It's a nightmare doing reviews in the pro area because of this!

    My reason for AM5:
I usually upgrading my board + cpu every 4-5 years , but with AM5 I can upgrade the cpu in between until maybe Zen6 (Zen4 v-cache, Zen4c, Zen5, Zen5 v-cache, Zen5c). As much as I hate it the initial cost is high , but everything is new tech (pcie 4/5, ddr5, bunch of 10/20 Gbps USB etc...), thats not comparable to X370 when Zen1 launched.
Electrical bill is an issue in europe.
    my current rate from 9 cent/kWh (2021) to 37-70 cent/kWh (2022).
So i tend to pick components that are more efficient, since i dont make money with my pc.

I think the choice is simple. This time around if you are the type of buyer that buy a system to hold on to it for 4+ years then go Intel, it is the better choice. However if you are the kind of buyer that always want to get the latest and greatest and upgrade every 2 years then AMD will be better due to the new socket being future proof for the next 4 years whilst the Intel socket is now on it's last generation so is end of the road, no upgrades in the future.

Changing platforms is often cheaper. For the money you pay today for AM5 and DDR5 memory, you can buy in 3-5 years 3 of them for the same price.
Future compatibility is only cheaper if you change your cpu and ram frequently. Most people wait 5 years before they buy a new computer. In that case it makes no difference.

I am just loving the competition between Intel & AMD. It is good for everyone. I am very excited to see what happens when AMD rolls out the v-cache versions of R7000 series.

I imagine when AMD will pull out a 7900x3D it will demolish Intel

I don’t think that Intel has anything that can beat the 3d series. The 5800x3d is able to trade blows with current gen Intel so I imagine that 7000 series will crush the ks series easily
