    You know, I really don't think you have the proper idea on your tool storage. All the tools should be tossed about on the floor, the workbenches, the shelf spaces, etc. At least, thats what all the other repair shops, and restore shops on youtube do! Regards from Canada 🇨🇦 😂

    Your work is just amazing. I love your attention to detail, the fact that you complete every task properly, and your professionalism in the deconstruct, and reassembly.     As far as "it's not as detailed as I would have hoped" I think you nail the balance in your videos where there's sufficient detail yet the pace of the restoration that ends up in the edit is on point.
    Anyways, good stuff and excellent results as always!

      Sir; i was wondering if you have used a brushed finish with Scotchbrite with a bit of running water...it seems to give a faster and 'cleaner' brushed finish... if you've tried it, and decided not to use this method, i would be interested in any comments on this.
      Lovely work, might be some of your expertise transferred to our TL-250B & CX-650E!

    Oh no, the bearings are in the wrong place, I had to rewind it to catch it when you put the axle back in. I'm glad to have you back with us, we missed you. Still, I believe that quality trumps quantity. You, sir, have that in spades. It's great seeing you doing what you do best, and we’re all here to enjoy it.       @@brodycurtis14 He put them in backward. There's a tapered bearing and a standard bearing. The tapered bearing is supposed to be in the spot where the shaft is tapered, not where it's straight. It's super easy to miss, I only noticed when he pointed it out.

      ​​@@st3althyone​ you're eagled eye! Here 4:54 you can clearly see the orientation where the bearings are.
      Moving forward 23:55 and the needle bearing goes on the castelated chain adjuster side, followed by the 2 standard ball bearings that goes to the disc side.
      Same sizes in different shapes.
      Know that been there 😅

    About that mistake, it happens to to most of us, when we install the bearings on the wrong side of the hub. If you don't work, you don't make mistakes!

    I love that vapor blaster, wish I could afford one. By the way, I love that "Freshly cured and out of the oven" smell lol. This is the best channel for restorations! It amazes me how well your re-plating works, no other channel can do the job as well as you do. I wish I knew how you did it.

    Interesting to see the NC30 swingarm and hub in detail. Was surprised to see, that the rear sprocket assembly has no "rubber dampers" like my RC36. Great work and video 👍

      Thank you, yeah I was surprised at the lack of cush drive rubbers too maybe Honda felt they were unnecessary for the 400?

      @@SteelJM1 no. It’s just chain lash thats absorbed in the rubber cushion assembly. Probably creates too much movement in the single side swing arm system.

    DOH!!! Needle bearing goes on the right, double bearings go the side with the chain adjustment tabs 24:45

      Yep - you can see at 24:50 the needle bearing is now in the correct end.

    Hoping that people enjoyed it... hmm, wonder if anyone has mentioned to ya that if you were just restoring things in a half arsed manner just to get things working etc then maybe but even then if people don't enjoy your work that you share then let them GFT :)...     Good video. I've been guilty of using too much polish myself in the past. 🙂 Getting an original equipment finish can be difficult on aluminum motorcycle parts.

    My NC30 has been on a bench in my garage now for 20 years. it came with a gearbox issue. that's fixed! This may have given me the spur I need to get the cosmetics sorted! I may have it done by the time Im 80! Great watch!!

    You mentioned that you made a small mistake during the fitment of the bearings. I'm guessing you used 2 x clockwise, rather than one of each 😉

    still love the look of the 400, i had the chance to ride the bike in the late 90s and was a little underwhelmed . expected a little more ummpf. and when you are a little on the taller side of the spectrum, it isn t a bike for you either;)) still a beauty

    god i missed u kid nice one , happy days. your knowlege of the finished surfaces of alloys and aluminium and spray painting annd repairing of fibreglass etc is class i have to say and thats a different realm altogher for a lot of good bike mechanics.their knowlege stops after the mechanics yours doesnt .so theres a compliment for you buddy and u must have definatley worked in a body repair shop or a spray booth before you had to have ( im thinking ) anyway i used to be a truck mechanic so did a lot of work with windbreakers and fibreglass plus the engines so to me its brilliant to watch plus i love bikes especially the vfr400 from years ago .attention to detail is a joy to watch ty my friend. p.s bang out the next one quicker will u ive binged watched all ure stuff lol

    I used to race one of these in the Superbike Lite series. Was an amazing handling bike and could often ride around the outside of 916's on practice days. You'd certainly get the comments in the pits after that! Great restoration!

    Sir, if I might recommend, placing large jugs of water within your freezer will make it more efficient, and use less power. The jugs can be easily removed should you need the extra space for a larger item. If you cap them, they can be thawed and used as Fresh Water in case of an emergency. Your videos are amazing, your workmanship is top notch. I personally am not a "Restoration" person, but, your videos give me a new appreciation for such work.

    This series is going to be bitter sweet for me. Sweet because I love the NC30 and bringing any of these 90's bikes back from the brink of death is wonderfully satisfying. Bitter because I had a UK version NC30 which was stolen a month after I bought it and insurance refused to pay out. I'd love another but they're daft money now for a good one.

    Have had the privilege riding one of those NC30 VFRs what an amazing bike. Ported a pair of heads for it and we did some other work to it as well.

    Would love to purchase an old motorcycle here in NYC and use your videos as a guide to restore it... Something I would enjoy doing with my kids in the future!
