I remember this game just like yesterday. People kept hogging the carpet bomb stations and I was weirdly obsessed with getting the “smooth” bolt cycle animation with the sniper rifles (since there’s a smooth cycle and one where the character struggles with the bolt). Good times.
Those animation differences are so nice because they’re subtle enough that it can go over your head but also start noticing it. I think they did it with the M1917 Enfield and the Arisaka in bf1 as well.
the pistols have trigger discipline, and the Thompson has a bit more of a jagged movement when the player tugs the charging handle. the player also uses their thumb when reloading the M1 Garand and "Type 5" in comparison to Bad Company 2.
While it is indeed kinda confusing and also idk why devs didn't add an Arisaka rifle, I can understand the reference as the internal mechanisms of Arisaka rifles like the bolt action system was heavily based by the ones of Mauser rifles.
Why was this game never ported over to PC?? I didn't play it that much back in the day because of my addiction to Halo, but the few I got to play of it DAAAAAMN it was fuun as hell. Fr man someone do something to perpetuate it on PC.
@@Hopy oooh maaaaaaaan for real?? couldn't they just hire another studio to port it over? what a waste man, I mean BF3 is awesome, but this game was something worth porting to PC.

Played this for hours on end at my friend’s house back in the day!
Servers might be down these days but that doesn't mean this game will be forgotten.
You know it is really funny to see the two factions basically have the same launcher. Just different colors.

2:41 why there's is a German rifle on Pacific War?
idk don't ask why!

I remember something about the devs not being able to get a arisaka so used a Mauser instead
If you ever do research. The mauser company did have a contract for Japan thus sent a batch of kar98ks to them. They're super rare to survive
Budget restrictions.
The game struggles to fire one bullet with full auto guns
The entire class when that one kid reminds the teacher about homework:

They did plan on a PC port, but they scrapped it because of them wanting to focus resources on Battlefield 3.
