I watched your videos about Japan a few years ago when we got our assignment to Yokota! We just got an assignment to Eielson, and that made me stumble upon your videos again!
At our last base, I never thought we would live on base. But Alaska, especially Eielson is SO different from the lower 48. When we considered the facts, that we were also a one car family, that we had never lived in such a harsh climate, and how expensive it was to live off base, we chose to live on base. Three years later and I LOVE living on base. I'm close to my friends and anything I need, I never hear my neighbors, and we feel well taken care of by Corvias.
We arrive in 2 months and are coming from Japan as well and your videos have been great. I love getting a preview of the base from someone who is dealing with it after living in Japan. Thank you and hope to meet you soon.
oh what base in japan? Girl yes! let me know once you are here and we should totally get together! If you guys need anything once you arrive, don't hesitate to reach out!
anyone moving here 1000% move off base you'll be much happier. You'll get more space to yourself, much quieter plus no extra bs that comes with living on base tbh. Reccomend the north pole area as it is within 10-15mins from base . Most people go to safeway to food rather than the commissary anyways tbh plus Fairbanks is just a small drive down the highway.
Depends where your stationed, when i lived in Virginia base housing was crappy and i wasnt gonna allow them to charge me arm and leg for crappy housing, i also found out housing in norfolk, Virginia they allowed section 8 people to rent. So here we are military paying 1,800 for rent while my section 8 neighbor pays $500 🙄
Wow had no idea they did that. I think if it were another base (state side) I would live off base since BAH is based on rank and the size of your family will determine the size of your house...
I think it really depends where you are stationed at like you said. I personally don’t like living on base because of all the drama. Sadly there are too many drama kings and queens in a military spouse community :-)
We are arriving in September and this is my biggest concern. Would love the convenience but I’ve heard horror stories of how nosy and drama filled neighbors can be.
Drama can be found everywhere, it is how you choose to react to it. I personally don’t entertain it, and keep things to myself. I will usually avoid interacting with those who like to gossip, as that is not something I like to do or know about.
Patricia Vergara absolutely right I am not a person who jumps into that pool either 😂. But it seems like on base is more than of base at least at the 3 bases I have been Ramstein , Whiteman and Robins .
fixpacifica yes, the friends that commute daily find the drive easy for the most part. Of course during the winter you have to leave about an hr early depending on the road conditions.

I'm not a military family who's going to move to Eielson Air Force Base, but I clicked on this video, watched it till the end and gave it a thumbs up!
Your the best!!! 💕💕💕

Living on base is definitely more convenient especially in the winter
Dai'Quion Thedford yes I agree
Your channel has been so helpful! Me and my husband are moving to Alaska (fort wainwright) in August, the tips have been great❤️
Nina Espinoza yay so glad the videos help 🥰
We liked living on base. We had old base housing in the esrly 90's. Usually the community loves having military members as there neighbors.
Really like the edits and video quality!
Tunedinfitness - Mind, Body & Spirit thank you 🙏
My family will be moving to fort wainwright next may!!
Jessica Thorne 🥰🥰

Veronica Fudge you really can find it everywhere like Patricia said . I just choose to never live on base because my last 3 bases was just drama lol
Mischa Thompson LOL I’m coming from
Robins 😂 We are no drama, private people so hopefully that should help keep the nonsense away!
Do you know anyone who commutes in from Fairbanks?
When I was based at Beale AFB, everyone was desperate to move off base.

Good video
Thank you 🙏
