    Thanks for this! I have a 96 Royal Star that sat in my garage for over a decade and I just had it rebuilt. I was out on the road Saturday and noticed it was suddenly really hard to shift. I looked up and saw no fluid! Following your video I was able to flush it out, and now it's shifting beautifully. And yes, I realize I may have bigger problems on my hand if that suddenly went empty, but for now, I'll take a win.

Thanks, new subscriber with bell notifications 😛Also, I have the 2009 Royal Star and for years I always found it to be best looking bike of modern times. I also drives so well. I love this motorcycle.

    I wanna thank you for this video .
    It made it real easy for me to do this job.
    I live in a rural area where if you have a problem and can’t get your bike to a mechanic then you are stuck.
    I was going to go for a ride and noticed I had no clutch .. it had a very small leak somewhere.
    I watched your video followed your instructions. And back on the road again.
    Thankd

    I love your pipes, I want those for my 2007 I'm thinking. What brand/model slip exhaust are they?

      These are regular stock pipes.

      @@kman-mi7su I like the sound of the stock pipes. They are not loud or quiet. To my ear, they are tuned just right.

    Will the clutch shift gears if the fluid is low/out/bad? My bike just stopped shifting gears. But the thing the clutch pushes in still goes in and out.

      @AmazingWorlds314  2 роки тому

      I would always make sure the fluid is not burned out and is clean and at proper level. However, what you are describing sounds like there may be a different problem with the clutch.

      @@AmazingWorlds314 yeah. Not gonna spend 1000$ to fix it. Qnd not gonna make payments on a piece of crap that went bad a few months after getting it.
      I'll do a repossession and let them deal with it.

      @@AmazingWorlds314 Just checked the fluids. Clutch is dark/empty. Brakes is pretty and light/full. Is a motorcycle syringe expensive? All i need is syringe and dot 4 fluids and a clear tube.

    • @AmazingWorlds314
      @AmazingWorlds314  2 роки тому

      @@HerbalistAce Any syringe will do. Take a look at the procedure in this video and you will successfully change the clutch fluid in your Royal Star. It's a rather straight forward procedure.

    You can run into trouble when squeesing the cluch. Ive worked on mike and rode my whole life. Alot of old bike machanics always told me to squeeze once then open then close then let go. Or you can get maybe 2 squeezes then open and close within about 2 seconds or 1 sec. But if it works for you then great job and ride safe.

      What do u mean, I was going to clean my filthy fruit out and I don't have a bleeder pump guess I could buy one if squeezing isn't good for it. I blew a cylinoid in my Tacoma pumping too hard.

      @@onewaylovethyneighbor9159 lol i ment my own bike. I also ment use a long tube on the bleeder valve with a 3/8 little rench. Pump the break or clutch lever twice then open the valve for either fluid youre working on then open the bleeder valve. Then close the valve then let off the break or clutch lever lol.

      @Cal G, What kind of trouble are you talking? The video is based on Clymer Manual for Yamaha Royal Star. Let me quote the portion from the manual about bleeding the clutch: "Pump the clutch level a few times and then release it." I saw some mechanics press the clutch just twice and some pressed it a few times. The Clymer Manual says "few pumps". The point is to get the old fluid out while getting the new one in. I changed my clutch fluid two years ago and the clutch works like a charm.

      @@AmazingWorlds314 for some reason my front break lever once i squeeze the lever it felt like it had some spung feeling when all the way in. I bleed out the fluid and its not doing it anymore. But i know i didnt have air in the lines so i was thinking my lever mite need to be replaced. I have a 1300 98 royal star with 40k on her but its the original lever. Maybe it was just me but i did have a buddy it happened too aswell.

    was your clutch slipping at all, mine is slipping a little going into 5th gear if I am really getting on it?

    • @AmazingWorlds314
      @AmazingWorlds314  4 роки тому

      My clutch was not slipping. I only needed to replace the hydraulic clutch fluid. There is some good information and troubleshooting guidance regarding the clutch in the Repair Manual. I got one by Clymer and it is pretty good. I would start there to troubleshoot the clutch.

      Royal Star clutches are junk around 30,000 miles. Upgrade to a Barnett clutch kit

    You keep saying "brakes" when you're bleeding the clutch.

    • @AmazingWorlds314
      @AmazingWorlds314  3 роки тому

      Correct. It is because a brake fluid is used in this process.
