depression can also be a very perpetual cycle, you feel like nothing is worth doing, and as a result of that inaction you become even more depressed and less motivated, you are essentially convinced that any effort towards a goal is practically impossible and in addition, has no purpose, your entire psyche and outlook is negatively distorted, it's a hole that i've been in and man is it rough.

I understand MORE what vulnerabilities are now. Now I am thinking about them in terms of care. Like I have said in the past, I never had an attitude of care toward my own self. I was constantly emotionally in service to an entire family who rejected me every single time I did not step up for THEIR needs. Needless to say I was considered NEEDLESS and WANTLESS as the oldest girl, as far as my own needs. That is what living with narcissists does to a bright, shining empath... they destroy you. Listening to you about all the caring things that takes care of the self gives me a completely different attitude over time that I deserve care and that that is what has been missing for me in my life! I don't have to deserve care. I just have to receive it!

There should be two different terms for after childbirth effect for the mother and father. The mother can have postpartum depression due to several factors not least of which is the expelling of the placenta.
When the mother expels the placenta, the hormones produced by the placenta during pregnancy, the Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), human placental lactogen (hPL), estrogens, progestogens, relaxin are released from her system. That plus exhaustion, pain, lactation and lochia can produce postpartum depression. NOTHING in a man’s system can compare to this.
A fathers hormonal reaction to the birth of a child is quite different than a mothers.
Therefore I suggest that men are assigned a different diagnosis than postpartum depression. Give the mother her due.

Noting the fact that men undergo hormonal and chemical changes in no way, takes anything away from postpartum depression in women and your comment, kind of shows a little biased towards men in general

Niacin in high doses, should be mentioned. It’s vitamin b3 and a precursor to NAD+. Tapping, EMDR and Havening every night, also. They produce delta waves, gaba and oxytocin. A journal of good daily moments entered last thing at night, accumalated and then reread nightly would help. As would doing affirmations for positive cognition and visualisations.
