Thank you for posting. I remember it being a real sensation to have chinese food delivered at this point in time. I doubt you'd get away with this ad now in more PC times. Jingle sticks in my head after all these years.
I see your point. Would half the country be offended by the old Yoplait ads stereotyping French people and their accent? Of course not, as French people do not share the same history that white Australia does with Asian immigration. But when you consider this type of admitedly innocent [and poor] imitation of a Chinese accent within the historic context of our fear of the 'yellow peril' [not just Pauline Hanson era 90s, but the WWII-era fears that spawned the White Australia policy] I can see why some would be offended by this, and I'm glad that ads like this would no longer be fit to air.
@@andrewhendry5050 You absolutely couldn't have this commercial on tv now. Not sure about the narration being an immitation accent as you said. I guess many people now would also get offended by the content in the old Bing Lee commercials. ua-cam.com/video/C-b3pufEcDo/v-deo.html
@@OldAussieAds no, I've e never found the ad. My dad founded Aussie Chopsticks. Have been trying to find the ad to show it to him again for inspiration. If anyone could help me find it, i would appreciate it
@@TheKritter91 Well until you mentioned it here, I wondered if I just made it up in my head. Glad to hear Aussie Chopsticks actually existed. What was the story behind that business and why did it stop?
I sing Diamond Chopsticks in my head still anytime I hear this tune!!
You are not alone
Same!
That tune is what brought me back here
Why does it surprise me I could find this ad on YT? This song still infiltrates my brain from time to time.
The safe spacers would shit a brick if this played today
Cause you don't have to make fun of yourself to make a dollar these days back then you did.
I'm sitting in a Chinese restaurant listening to this!😂
I remember this! It is one of those jingles that was so ingrained, that whenever I hear the Can-Can now I always find myself singing these lyrics.
How the hell can a Chinese business want 444 in their number?
😅😅😅👍Gold 👍
At least the Central Coast number had 888 in it.
👍😅😅😅
Its the gwailo dialing the death number you ring they bring.
I could never forget the phone number 🤣 For decades!!!
oh the wonderful memories.
Anywhere in Sydney in "around half an hour" wasn't even possible back then. I used to wonder about it whenever I saw the ad. 😂
I used to get diamond chopsticks from time to time. It wasn't bad either. Can taste the spring rolls and sweet and sour sauce now.

Good spotting, I live in Ctown and don't think we ever ordered from them... do you know where the returant was ?
@@__PJ__ no idea lol. I only remember the ad but not sure where the store would have been, I was barely 4 or 5 at the time when we moved to Mino
now imagine if this was made today
wow, this brings back memories...
I just learned this gem existed in this world. What a banger!
Where'd you learn it from, was there any rumbling going on while you learned?
@@MUIDYLANICE as part of a reaction. Maybe it was framed as problematic in the compilation, but I don't know.
Was to busy enjoying it :D
I remember this ad as a 10 year old, well not the vision but definitely the jingle chorus, that has stuck!!!
This is amazing.

ahh how much Australia has changed. Half the country would be offended if we aired this today.
Too true, Australia on the way down now, our best days are long behind us.

Someone in my class sang this song and then everyone started singing this song
i love how this ad had a google ad at the start
This was Chinese chopsticks, not Diamond chopsticks.
Where was Diamond Chopsticks located? I'm gathering if it was delivery anywhere in Sydney, they must have had quite a few.
