You should cover William Uternmohlen. He was an artist influenced by Francis Bacon and German Expressionism but was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 1995, and did art until he literally forgot how to do art.
The "fox" painting is the most beautiful picture of madness I have had the pleasure to view. It is a summation of the artist and the art. Sublimely gorgeous!
Thanks for sharing a bit about Antonio. I'd never heard of him before before you presented this video. I'm doing a course in Early childhood and we've studied the impact of early childhood trauma, which is clearly what this poor block suffered throughout his adult life. An amazing artist, I love his work.
Wonderful artwork, glad he found success after such a tortured upbringing and never feeling like he 'fitted in' anywhere, no wonder he felt such an affinity for and with animals. Great video, thanks for your work, always a joy.
you should make a video on Henry Darger - he was a fantastic outsider artist and fused the grotesque with the childlike in a unique way & his art was unknown until his death.
Congrats on 200k subscribers Dweller! Been following you since the Black Paintings video and I can’t wait to see what you post next! You’ve really opened my eyes to more art than I ever thought I could enjoy, and for that I thank you! Here’s to the hundreds of thousands of more subscribers you will get with time!
This channel is such a Gem. I was never a big Art guy nir did i not like it but the way you represent, the points you make and the People you Pick e.g Kurt Cobain fpr your Videos shows a open mind with a big passion paired with great writing and speaking skills and makes these video essays to me more then just scientific disections of the technique etc . Some Videos of yours leave an lasti g impact on me like the one about Sveva Caetani and many more. Youre a reason why youtube is still relevant to me. Especiall the Philosphical aspects of your Videos is what makes then special to me never assume youre boring!!!! To me you are the Like Stories Of Old for Art ♥️.
It’s weird because I was JUST wondering when another one of your videos would be posted. Thank you for another wonderful virtual exposé!!! You’re my favorite!!
I had the chance to visit the Van Gogh exhibition in Rome's Palazzo Bonaparte earlier this year, and upon seeing the thumbnail of the video immediately recognized that I'd seen Ligabue's portrait there in comparison to Van Gogh's. Glad I'm getting the chance to learn more.
Thank you Blind dweller for researching Ligabue you really gave an excellent insight on his mind and art.He suffered a lot very misunderstood ,people couldn’t see passed his ragged looks. He loved his animals so much and when the PO river flooded he made sure to save his rabbits dogs and chickens from the water.it’s true the majority of people rarely understand diversity and innovation till it’s too late.At least Andrea Mozzali another established artist noticed his talent and just thanks to Mozzali we know about Ligabue.nevertheless Antonio would have continued to paint and sculpt even if he would have never been noticed because his art was the love he never found in people
I think an artist that you may enjoy is Mario Duplantier from the band gojira. He’s got some really beautiful paintings and ink work. A lot of it is very nature oriented and pretty powerful. On top of that he’s a great drummer.
At 3:09, a photo of Antonio shows a man infinitely broken and sad, but... also a look of genuine surprise that someone is taking an interest in him. I want to know more...
I must say *Antonio Ligabue* used an excellent technique painting those animals; especially all that detail in their patterns & those vivid bright colors ... beautiful & stunning
Love your work. Always a pleasure when a new one pops up. For a future video, I recommend the artwork of Clive Barker for it'll be great to hear what your thoughts are on him.
I was hoping for Ligabue to show up here! I am so happy it actually did! It is a great painter and deserves much more credit. Thanks for this video from Italy. ❤
Congrats on 200k subs!! 🥳🥳 I've been following you for almost a year, and I love the in-depth videos you do on the artists you cover. I also love that you use your platform to highlight and give exposure to current artists.
I really love the explanation behind the human skulls found in his work because that has been something I've been saying for a long time. That we actually overrate ourselves and if it wasn't for our little gadgets that makes killing a polar bear easier, then we'd be as helpless as the usual three ringed seal you can watch videos of being ripped to shreds alive, I also like that many of these artists you cover on here are self taught. I really relate to these type of misunderstood self made artists over the more favored and and privileged ones in classical art history. Maybe because I'm self teaching too and sometimes (like today) have serious doubts about my abilities as an artists, on top of going through shit circumstances, but HEY! If these people never gave up, then why should I? Also I hope you keep making videos like these as they are really inspirational, just some ideas. Have you ever considered covering James Jean, Vladimir Kush, or Avogado 6? I'd definitely love to hear your interpretation on these guys art, especially the third guy, he doesn't have much of a bio unfortunately but there is a lot of meaning behind his art so I think it'd still be worth it.
I really enjoy your videos brother. Thank you for bringing to the spotlight lesser known artists ❤️❤️ … just a word of advice, as an artist it’s very hurtful to be called a “madman”, beautiful souls are sensitive. That’s all and keep rocking 😎❤️💪
Ligabue masterpieces are the portrait of the powerful nature down in Gualtieri on the river Po. The river there is so strong and the trees there are so particularlly unique. I tried to trace his feelings going exactly where he lived. I was expecting him coming out from the wood or strolling around Gualtieri's porches.
Wow! What a beautiful human! I wish I could've hugged him. I was thinking that some of his art did look to be influenced by Japanese art I've seen, which is very interesting. Those animal cards don't look like that kind of art so it's neat that his paintings look this way. I think it's awesome that he had an affinity for animals and nature in general. Maybe it's because animals love unconditionally and with him being homeless, he saw the way they take care of each other and their young. And those rabbits probably treated him better than most humans did at the time. Either way, what a cool man! I can relate to his love for animals and nature. I'm the type of person who apologizes to the grass when I have to mow it, or to saplings that threaten to grow into the foundation of my house when I have to uproot them. I feel like a serial killer...haha! I really do hate hurting anything that's alive. As for spiders- I LOVE them! I don't want them crawling on me while I sleep, but they're fascinating little creatures! Thank you for this video! I'd never heard of Ligabue before, but I have seen some of his work before. Just didn't know who created it.
As a photog for many years one of my favorite subjects to paint are rabbits/ hares/cats from my pics ... & I have many rescued cats that I adore ...even though they are whiskered trouble makers 🖌🎨🐰🐇
You should do walton ford. He is one of my favorite artists. He does art of rare or extinct animals including thylacines. He does HUGE watercolor paintings. Thanks for these videos!
I identify with being an outcast. I also identify with the large cats Roaring or Screaming! If I hear a piece of Art it's a Real Wonderful Thing for me. I'm Always anxious for your next Video. Thank you for sharing this with us!
13:44. I see a man looking similar to Antonio. A blue flower above the lion represents an eye. Leaves construct and other fauna constructs his face. The man is frowning, but not sad. Angry. Could it be he's angry because he is an animal hiding in the woods, intertwined with nature, hiding because he cannot come to terms with him the man or him the animal? I believe there are ciphers in his work, whether conscious or unconscious, he is always part of the work, even intertwined with the painting itself.
Thankyou! Amazing as always!❤ I’m wondering about that bit where you say that because he didn’t leave Italy he couldn’t see the wild animals he painted. Would you count the animals in circuses and zoos? They wouldn’t have been born in captivity back then.
How is Rousseau an insider and Ligabue an outsider?!? I love Rousseau but Ligabue is quite a bit better and more interesting painter. His art is outrageously good. Outsider art is a label the art world uses if they think the artist is actually the “r” word. It’s honestly pretty offensive when the person is not handicapped mentally.
Yes!! Either that or they just somehow don't fit into the pretentious/pseudo intellectual crowd. Ugh. Huge yawn, why do normies overrun the world, they're so dull and try to drag everyone down with them. NPC's in a bucket 😩
hey i think you should check out natalie frank, her art is right up your alley!! i love your videos thank you for making these i love discovering all these new artists
‘They’ say things like: ‘doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result is insane’, but ‘it’s the nature of man to confuse genius with insanity’ is it not?!;)
Never turn your back on the ocean. Domestication is an oxymoron. Nature is ancient. Judgement is isolating. Misery loves company. Psychosis is being close to a true God. In death peace is found.
I know this is my trauma speaking... However, I feel like he focused on animals so much simply because he considered them more friends to him than mankind. It's like a dude who grew up on the perspective of staring at the same parts of untamed wilderness all day for years and then him conveying his art. Personally, I believe he's a great fucking man. Wow! It's kinda cute how people don't see that. Ah, you normies. You make me chuckle at times.
You should cover William Uternmohlen. He was an artist influenced by Francis Bacon and German Expressionism but was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 1995, and did art until he literally forgot how to do art.
His mental health didn't negatively impact his art.
Prejudice negatively impacted his reputation and acceptance.
pretty much
I agree, and where is the merit in making so much of the subject inverse? really
The "fox" painting is the most beautiful picture of madness I have had the pleasure to view. It is a summation of the artist and the art. Sublimely gorgeous!

Great video as always! I’ve never heard of this artist or seen their art before. Always a treat to find new artists.
Thanks Charlie! I was also new to his work until recently but as soon as I learned his story I had to share it 😁

Never heard of this artist before now, & I'll not forget him ir his art. Thank you for sharing this with us.🌹💜🌍
Whoa, I've never quite seen such intense cat faces before. His paintings look like a beautiful fever dream.

Antonio Ligabue is now my new favourite artist!!!
Thank Y❤️U, Blind Dweller for my extended art education, today !!!💖🙏💖🙏💖🙏💖🙏
Great video. I'd never even heard of this artist, but his work is fantastic. Such a great colourist.
Thanks for introducing me to this wonderful art.
Good to hear van Gogh’s name being pronounced so closely to how the Dutch say it.
I can’t express how much I appreciate your videos, insight, expression and exposure of these artists 😩💕

yesss
I would absolutely love to see his art in person. I bet the texture itself is mindblowing!

11:50 Absolutly stunning! I paint humans and animals together and I really connect with this artist! Thank you for the video!

Congrats on 200K 💜💜💜
Congrats on 200k. Thank you so much for making these videos.
Love your work. Always a pleasure when a new one pops up. For a future video, I recommend the artwork of Clive Barker for it'll be great to hear what your thoughts are on him.
Holy shit I went to an exhibit of his artworks near Bari last week, amazing experience. Thanks for talking about him
Tiger in a Tropical Storm is one of my favorite paintings too! It’s my current phone case
I was hoping for Ligabue to show up here! I am so happy it actually did! It is a great painter and deserves much more credit. Thanks for this video from Italy. ❤

I love his work. The colors, the conflict. Amazing. Than you for sharing. Thank you for opening his world to me.
Watching the first half of the video as I get ready to sleep. Turning over and closing my eyes while I listen. "Now lets look at the art"
I really love the explanation behind the human skulls found in his work because that has been something I've been saying for a long time. Really love your passion and commitment to sharing art. Thank you.
I'd love to see a video about Frida Khalo! I only briefly studied her in high school, but I'm endlessly fascinated by her and her work.
I really enjoy your videos brother. Thank you for bringing to the spotlight lesser known artists ❤️❤️

Wow! Beautiful artwork! Thank you!

You will never be boring to me, sir. I share your videos with friends on social media.
I enjoy the pacing on your videos, it feels easygoing enough for me to keep up, but it's not so slow that it doesn't keep my attention.
Finally, i really love Ligabue Art, i'm from Italy so it's cool to watch an analysis like this
I've subscribed only a day ago, I am amazed at how deep and involved the videos are. Wish I found your channel earlier!
You should do walton ford. He is one of my favorite artists. He does art of rare or extinct animals including thylacines. He does HUGE watercolor paintings. Thanks for these videos!
Congrats on hitting 200K
Congrats 🎉 You put a lot of work into your uploads. Thankyou ✨

Sometimes creative people are only seen as outcasts because they intimidate mediocrities.

I know he’s too mainstream but please, Salvador Dali. He’s on of my favorites!
Omg I share a birthday with him
Really cool! Definitely going to look into his work.
Such a good story and video ❤❤😊😊lovely .
Amazing artist..should be well known.
Hey thanks bro 👍🏼💙 I love your channel.
Some of his paintings are quite charming.
It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.
Love your stuff!😊

You should cover David Lynch, he was inspired by Francis Bacon I believe
Doomer self-portrait
Never heard of him but its good
Booty magik never thought I would hear you say that
I clicked on this video to find out what a bue is and how Antonio was like one.
