Pretty sure my favorite character is Jason. Dude had a great turning point there with Salim. It was almost hard to believe his background story, but it felt real and relatable. Honestly seems like the real leader the entire game. He steps up into the role while Eric is just existing and trying to convince Rachel to love him the entire time 🤮 Salim is definitely my favorite. He's also super real being conscious about not wanting war and more than anything wanting to be there for his son. Best dad role ever.
My favorite was Jason and Salim. But dude I fucked up. I shot the shepherd in the beginning. It wasn’t an accident. I made a shitty call and I killed an innocent woman. Salim WATCHED ME DO THIS. And when they all met up Nick helped Salim take one of them down. But then when Salim saw Jason again a gun fight broke out and they got separated once again. But finally Jason and Salim were forced to work together and brought forth the most beautiful friendship ever. I couldn’t save Nick from the ancient one and I lost Rachel to suicide. But I did make it out with Jason, Salim and the Colonel that was married to Rachel. And I’m glad I got the ending I did. I wouldn’t have it any other way tbh. I had 3 survivors and the 2 people I lost, I wasn’t mad at it. Even though I really liked Nick I didn’t care for Rachel

He’ll get killed, and if he lets go, Rachel will be mad at him. There are a bunch more things that happened to Eric, but if I explain it this comment will be like a documentary so yeah.
For once in my life, have I ever seen an Iraqi republican guard as a main character of a story. Not only am I surprised, I think this is super cool! It really shows the humanity behind the combatants.
And he's the first one who acted friendly and humanely to other side when they were both in danger instead of sticking to the stupid hostilities of war

I honestly love how you wrote 'Good Ending' and not 'Best Ending' in this playthrough. Because the Best ending is when you kill Merwin before he fixes the radio and you don't call air support. If you do that then Salim won't get captured. Instead, he will walk home to his son before the air support arrives hence giving him the best ending
@@johnandsoon6081 I was confused why you said that, but I looked it up and I was unaware that Merwin dies no matter what choices you make, I was under the impression that he died if you made the choice to kill him before he fixed the radio, and not that he would also die immediately afterwards which is pretty cringe but a different point.

@JakobWasTaken__ it's not just about who can and can't be saved. With these games in this series, your actions also affect character traits and relationships with eachother. Just like with the rope. Rachel won't die either way, but cutting the rope or letting it snap changes her view of Eric.

never thought I'd root so hard for Salim and Jason, definitely best character and character dynamic of the entire series, and the end was just chef's kiss
I loved the dynamic with Salim and Jason. How they can become good friends and trust each other so well by the end is so heartwarming and nice. Also, which character is the whistler? The whistle in the beginning after the soldiers have their briefing. There's a creepy whistle. And I don't mean Salim whistling. It's one of the Americans. Edit: It also happens while they're searching the Shepherds huts for the silo
Amazing game. Love how instead of psychological horror this game was kinda more leaning towards joining hands with an enemy in order to survive. 1st 2 dudes and then Salim and this group. Though I don't think 'everyone' lived. Guess these are all the people who can possibly live at all.

I liked this one a lot, is more like until down than the first one, and the facial expressions are better overall. The characters are way more charming, specially Salim and Jason.
Honestly this was an interesting watch, the love triangle was annoying asf though and we can all agree Jason and Salim were the best characters in the games. R.I.P Merwin & Charlise they were some real ones.
Not the best ending since Salim gets captured but not the worst. Awesome! Better since monsters were real instead of all in the head like Man of Medan & Little Hope. Hate the fact that Clarice could've been saved if they had used UV light on her too.
Let's be honest here. Balathu and Kurum were the best starting dynamic for the whole Dark Pictures Anthology series. Even if they died, they'll be remembered as two badasses and enemies turned bros who stood against the horrors together before the inevitable doom.
God, I really hope the dev team behind this game one day does a story of Lovecraftian or Cosmic Horror, because their formula for narrative driven games is absolutely breathtaking.

Honestly, that scene is awful on PC. As it's the mouse you're clicking, there's pretty much no indication that it's different. Whereas on console, you see the button change colour (or shape) which makes it more clear that it's a choice. So many people accidentally kill Merwin because of that scene being ambiguous.

seriously makes me so sad you can’t actually save her because i loved her character model and story. It’s a shame we don’t get to see more of her and I think her skills would’ve made for an interesting story as well as far as helping them all survive. Missed opportunity 😩 otherwise overall a good game but shout out to Clarice
There actually are myth and legends in the middle east about bat like people. And there are combatants on all sides of the Iraq war (American, British, Iraqi, etc) who have claimed to seen or encounter them.

I’m just looking for a best ending where everyone lives and Eric and Rachel end up together and can’t find one 😭 granted I don’t think Rachel deserves Eric because she essentially cheated while he’s always stayed faithful, and Nick was really just a 2-week rebound - while he just used her for emotional support after the shit with the checkpoint. The choice shouldn’t even be hard for her. Honestly an Eric-Rachel reconciliation storyline would have been better than a love triangle. But oh well.
Yeah, and the way she holds the "you cut the rope" over his head makes me angry. What was he supposed to do? Not cut it and die? Also the fact that she mostly plays the victim with Eric about the accident and their breakup when he is the victim of her recklesness doesnt make her look good. Rachel may be my most hated chracter in the game tbh.
I just made a discovery… Everytime Jason or Salim mess up a move or action they are not killed out right and given a second chance- while if you screw up with any other character depending on the situation they will live through coincidence or die. Salim and Jason were made to survive unless you actually wanted them to die. Crazy right?
Imagine being stuck half dead half alive for thousands of years with a green goo on your body that made you alive for so long. Poor guy, had to go trough all this shit for so long
For some reason in my playthrough, despite making the QTE's, I can't get Salim to discover the sunlight weakness. He just kicks the vamp off and it never reaches the light. Then instead of him and Nick killing the vampire, for me they just sneak past the vamp entirely and it runs off. Frustrating bc I know I need that dang knowledge to keep them all alive haha.

You gotta love how in the beginning they were this huge creature that no man could slay and they would all just run. And then towards the end they are killing the vampires left and right easy peasy.
i can see that the creators of this Game found inspiration in Alien mixed with some Dracula/demon stuff and i must say if this was a horror movie they'd be getting all the awards
I watched a playthrough where they got Eric killed because they made him refuse to cut the rope with Rachel, and he ended up getting shot and falling onto some spikes. Its actually mad how much stuff later on is cut out when he's missing. Also kinda fucked up that if Eric doesn't cut the rope to stay loyal to Rachel, he dies for it. If he does cut the rope (so they both end up living) Rachel is pissed at him and lords it over him. Seems like the game gave you no option to repair Eric and Rachel's relationship, her only available option is to move on with Nick.
it annoys me how you have to be nice to an average looking cheating lying arrogant bitch for a good ending but such is the day of modern writing, cant be mean to the strong independent woman everyone hates.
The only thing i would’ve changed is leaving Merlin behind so nick can save Eric and Rachel isnt made at Eric. And i made sure salim didnt get captured, that man needs to see his son.
You notice the people in the choppers don't get questioned or we don't see them get questioned even though they definitely saw shot and maybe even killed some of the vampires.
This is great, game is a good idea. Random thought- SPOILER -when they get to the acid dungeon i almost had to double take because there is so much detail in the character models but they really put zero effort in the spores/acid blobs 💀💀💀
I'm so confused, online it says if we help clarice she later on kills eric but...everyone here is alive!! :o I'm sad the game didn't let them kill clarice before she transforms, you know...they keep saying they don't leave anyone behind but they don't even let her go of this horrific pain :(
@@jojkill I saw a youtuber called Zellendust (Spanish) play with a friend online, in their route Rachel tried to stop Jason, but Eric (controlled by him) restrains her and Jason shots Clarisse in the head. She is seen still moving after they leave, but never came back. Then again, they only saved Jason and Salim (accidentally sent Eric and Rachel to the passage with C4's and failed a skillcheck when Nick was fighting the zombi after the explosion) so I don't know if it would've been different with everyone.
I've come to my own conclusion that they left Rachel looking like a trash can full of shit and ded rotten flesh because they knew her character was absolutely horrendous. It really reflects her inner demeanor. I mean that last sentence really hit the final nail on the head. Acting like she's simping for Nick, but imo in the end she was using it as pretty much an excuse to get back at Eric. Feel bad for my dude Nick.

every horror game made by supermassive games and ofcourse evil within has some of the best death animations in gaming. Thanks for advice though :) but i will move on to other games

Rachel gets on my nerves. She and Nick. Lol. You're the reason the dude lost his leg, you cheated on him while y'all still married, and YOUR the victim? Wtf. What kinda BS? The only one I liked was Salim. Well him and Jason(only when he stopped being an ass to him though). Everyone else is just irritating. Lol
House of Ashes was definitely the highlight of the first season for me. Hope things start shaping up a bit in the games to come - this season's plotlines all had potential, but most of them had a tendency to fall apart a bit due to lacklustre writing and dialogue, at least to my mind.
It's a given that they all die afterwards. Only the big wigs get to know this stuff. Best case scenario: everyone (including the pilots) are court marshaled for dubious reasons, and die mysterious deaths while in military custody.
I like to think that over time, in this run, Nick wakes up and see's just how horrible Rachel is and leaves her ass. She really said that she was stronger than all of them, basically saying she did it all on her own, that she survived on her own, after they saved her ass numerous of times.
I love this game. Out of its predecessors this is my favorite. I got curious about the song on the radio that Merwin was listening to while he was bench pressing, I was struggling to find it and I didn't know if anyone would know what the song was as the background noises are louder than it, but I found it. Raphael Lake ft. Aaron Levy, Dumi Maraire - Ready. Now that I know what it is I can re-watch this in peace.
Great looking game, I can see they got inspiration from Alien when it came round to the story. The only thing I am not a fan of in the game is I find when the characters move their heads their eyes don't always move, but its just a minor criticism I would rate this game a solid 9 out of 10.
Dude I was on the edge of my seat for five hours straight! Seriously I didn’t expect this story to be so intense! I will admit the whole love triangle thing was a bit annoying but thankfully it doesn’t ruin the story. In my opinion the best character was Jason. I think Jason, Chris Redfield, Captain Soap Mactavish, Captain Price, and Isaac Clarke would get along lol 😂. Storyline is dumb. I like the "enemy of my enemy is my friend" stuff, and people should stop killing each other over stupid flags, but as far as Rach goes, she could stay faithful to her husband while he was away for a year, and how she ended up a higher rank than him, on a mission with him, seems to be a "conflict of interest" that would effect the overall mission as you're seeing it played out here. Personally, the only two guys I hope survive is the Iraqi soldier, and the one American dude that treated him kindly, as opposed to the other soldiers who treated him badly.
Definitely the best out of the 3. Salim and Jason finding the vampires homes was kibda breathtaking, as well as the fact that the monsters were actually REAL this time around.
i wonder, do you think that the ending ( not the finale - The Devil In Me ) of the whole anthology is where the game explores the curator? I like how he said "homely" and then i paused and googled it immediately lol. I like the horror but love the endless possibilities of scenarios/ stories the Horror Anthology can take, i like it, i love it, i want it. Also, can we also take the time to appreciate how " AMAZING" the motion tracking was in the 'pit' and lighting. On a side note and more of side rant, can we make Super Metroid Reboot now please :).
Call me crazy, but I would love to see these guys take on the Martian Gothic storyline. I think it's a good story that can be made even better and immersive in the right hands, even if some stuff has to change to fit the formula and flow better.

Amazing game. Love how instead of psychological horror this game was kinda more leaning towards joining hands with an enemy in order to survive. 1st 2 dudes and then Salim and this group. Though I don't think 'everyone' lived. Guess these are all the people who can possibly live at all.

I liked this one a lot, is more like until down than the first one, and the facial expressions are better overall. The characters are way more charming, specially Salim and Jason.
Honestly this was an interesting watch, the love triangle was annoying asf though and we can all agree Jason and Salim were the best characters in the games. R.I.P Merwin & Charlise they were some real ones.

Let's be honest here. Balathu and Kurum were the best starting dynamic for the whole Dark Pictures Anthology series. Even if they died, they'll be remembered as two badasses and enemies turned bros who stood against the horrors together before the inevitable doom.
God, I really hope the dev team behind this game one day does a story of Lovecraftian or Cosmic Horror, because their formula for narrative driven games is absolutely breathtaking.

Honestly, that scene is awful on PC. As it's the mouse you're clicking, there's pretty much no indication that it's different. Whereas on console, you see the button change colour (or shape) which makes it more clear that it's a choice. So many people accidentally kill Merwin because of that scene being ambiguous.

seriously makes me so sad you can’t actually save her because i loved her character model and story. It’s a shame we don’t get to see more of her and I think her skills would’ve made for an interesting story as well as far as helping them all survive. I’m just looking for a best ending where everyone lives and Eric and Rachel end up together and can’t find one 😭 granted I don’t think Rachel deserves Eric because she essentially cheated while he’s always stayed faithful, and Nick was really just a 2-week rebound - while he just used her for emotional support after the shit with the checkpoint. The choice shouldn’t even be hard for her. Honestly an Eric-Rachel reconciliation storyline would have been better than a love triangle. But oh well.
Yeah, and the way she holds the "you cut the rope" over his head makes me angry. What was he supposed to do? Not cut it and die? Also the fact that she mostly plays the victim with Eric about the accident and their breakup when he is the victim of her recklesness doesnt make her look good. Rachel may be my most hated chracter in the game tbh.
Can I say it's really cool that one of the characters tries to scientifically document and study one of the creatures? Cause it is!
I just made a discovery… Everytime Jason or Salim mess up a move or action they are not killed out right and given a second chance- while if you screw up with any other character depending on the situation they will live through coincidence or die. Salim and Jason were made to survive unless you actually wanted them to die. Crazy right?
Imagine being stuck half dead half alive for thousands of years with a green goo on your body that made you alive for so long. Poor guy, had to go trough all this shit for so long

For some reason in my playthrough, despite making the QTE's, I can't get Salim to discover the sunlight weakness. He just kicks the vamp off and it never reaches the light. Then instead of him and Nick killing the vampire, for me they just sneak past the vamp entirely and it runs off. Frustrating bc I know I need that dang knowledge to keep them all alive haha.

You gotta love how in the beginning they were this huge creature that no man could slay and they would all just run. And then towards the end they are killing the vampires left and right easy peasy.

I watched a playthrough where they got Eric killed because they made him refuse to cut the rope with Rachel, and he ended up getting shot and falling onto some spikes. Its actually mad how much stuff later on is cut out when he's missing.
Also kinda fucked up that if Eric doesn't cut the rope to stay loyal to Rachel, he dies for it. If he does cut the rope (so they both end up living) Rachel is pissed at him and lords it over him. Seems like the game gave you no option to repair Eric and Rachel's relationship, her only available option is to move on with Nick.

@@jojkill I saw a youtuber called Zellendust (Spanish) play with a friend online, in their route Rachel tried to stop Jason, but Eric (controlled by him) restrains her and Jason shots Clarisse in the head.
She is seen still moving after they leave, but never came back. Then again, they only saved Jason and Salim (accidentally sent Eric and Rachel to the passage with C4's and failed a skillcheck when Nick was fighting the zombi after the explosion) so I don't know if it would've been different with everyone.
I've come to my own conclusion that they left Rachel looking like a trash can full of shit and ded rotten flesh because they knew her character was absolutely horrendous. It really reflects her inner demeanor. I mean that last sentence really hit the final nail on the head. Acting like she's simping for Nick, but imo in the end she was using it as pretty much an excuse to get back at Eric. Feel bad for my dude Nick.

i saved merwin in my playthough so if i had not cut rope the second time then eric gets impaled as nick won't be able to reach eric on time.

The only one I liked was Salim. Well him and Jason(only when he stopped being an ass to him though). Everyone else is just irritating. Lol
House of Ashes was definitely the highlight of the first season for me. Hope things start shaping up a bit in the games to come - this season's plotlines all had potential, but most of them had a tendency to fall apart a bit due to lacklustre writing and dialogue, at least to my mind.
It's a given that they all die afterwards. Only the big wigs get to know this stuff. Best case scenario: everyone (including the pilots) are court marshaled for dubious reasons, and die mysterious deaths while in military custody.
I like to think that over time, in this run, Nick wakes up and see's just how horrible Rachel is and leaves her ass. She really said that she was stronger than all of them, basically saying she did it all on her own, that she survived on her own, after they saved her ass numerous of times.
I love this game. Out of its predecessors this is my favorite. I got curious about the song on the radio that Merwin was listening to while he was bench pressing, I was struggling to find it and I didn't know if anyone would know what the song was as the background noises are louder than it, but I found it. Raphael Lake ft. Aaron Levy, Dumi Maraire - Ready. Now that I know what it is I can re-watch this in peace.
Great looking game, I can see they got inspiration from Alien when it came round to the story. The only thing I am not a fan of in the game is I find when the characters move their heads their eyes don't always move, but its just a minor criticism I would rate this game a solid 9 out of 10.

Dude I was on the edge of my seat for five hours straight! Seriously I didn’t expect this story to be so intense! I will admit the whole love triangle thing was a bit annoying but thankfully it doesn’t ruin the story. In my opinion the best character was Jason. I think Jason, Chris Redfield, Captain Soap Mactavish, Captain Price, and Isaac Clarke would get along lol 😂. Storyline is dumb. I like the "enemy of my enemy is my friend" stuff, and people should stop killing each other over stupid flags, but as far as Rach goes, she could stay faithful to her husband while he was away for a year, and how she ended up a higher rank than him, on a mission with him, seems to be a "conflict of interest" that would effect the overall mission as you're seeing it played out here. Personally, the only two guys I hope survive is the Iraqi soldier, and the one American dude that treated him kindly, as opposed to the other soldiers who treated him badly.

I like how he said "homely" and then i paused and googled it immediately lol. I like the horror but love the endless possibilities of scenarios/ stories the Horror Anthology can take, i like it, i love it, i want it. Also, can we also take the time to appreciate how " AMAZING" the motion tracking was in the 'pit' and lighting. On a side note and more of side rant, can we make Super Metroid Reboot now please :).

Call me crazy, but I would love to see these guys take on the Martian Gothic storyline. I think it's a good story that can be made even better and immersive in the right hands, even if some stuff has to change to fit the formula and flow better.
